Roger Frederick Bishop, 77, left this world in sure and certain hope of the resurrection on December 2, 2023. He was a longtime resident of Ezzell, Texas where he lived with his wife of 55 years, Diane Bishop, who preceded him in death. Roger was the father of four children--Jeffrey Paul Bishop (wife Cynthia Gryder Bishop), Christa Lyn Bishop Marek (husband Victor Marek), Nathan Wesley Bishop (wife Angela Rizo Bishop), and Matthew Todd Bishop (wife Catherine Heeter Bishop). He was born on October 15, 1946 to the late John Paul Bishop and Bonnie Klaus Bishop in Edinburgh, Texas. He was the middle child with two brothers, John Paul Bishop, Jr and Thomas Michael Bishop, both of whom preceded him in death. In 1954, he moved with his family to Ezzell, Texas, his father's family home. After the death of his father in 1961, the brothers lived with his grandmother Isabelle Ponton Bishop. He was a graduate of Hallettsville High School in 1965, and married Diane Green on September 2, 1966. Roger worked for several companies over the years, including Dupont, Hancor, Polydynamics, Formosa, and South Texas Electric Cooperative. He also owned and operated a dairy farm from 1974 to 1994. Roger never met a stranger and was a beloved colleague at his places of employment, especially South Texas Electric Cooperative in Victoria, Texas. He was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grand father; he was a dedicated friend to many, many people. Roger is survived by his children, daughters-in-law and son-in-law. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, Devin Nicole Otto Grasshoff (husband Jake Grasshoff), Alyson Jaye Otto (fiance Jered Carrizzeles), Madeleine Grace Bishop, Isabel Lee Bishop, Lydia Clare Bishop, Henry Michael Bishop, Felix Roger Gabriel Bishop, Lyla Ruth Bishop, Amelia Ines Bishop, Vincent Charles Raphael Bishop, and Nora Caroline Bishop. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren, Jaycee Layne Grasshoff and Ridge Louis Grasshoff, and Alyana Brooke Carrizales, Abygail Grace Carrizales, and Jonah Miguel Carrizales. Visitation will be held Friday, December 15, 2023 from 5:30 - 7:30 pm at United Methodist Church, Halletsville. Funeral Service will be Saturday, December 16, 2023 at 10:00 am at the church with burial to follow at Salem Cemetery, Halletsville. His pallbearers are: Carl Hermes, Jason Kurtz, Jason Mares, John Packard, Clayton Schutz, and Joel Smith. Honorary pallbearers are: Jered Carrizales, Jake Grasshoff, and Victor Marek. Doyal W. Horadam passed away December 2, 2023 at the age of 90. He was born January 3, 1933 in Victoria, Texas to the late, Henry S. Horadam and Lillie M. Reimann. Visitation will be Monday, December 11 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM with a funeral service at 1:00 PM at Grace Funeral Home, 2401 Houston Hwy in Victoria, Texas. Burial to follow at Coletoville Cemetery. Doyal was a beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather. His family and community will miss him. Doyal "Papa" graduated from Patti Welder High School and attended Victoria College. In 1953, he was drafted into the U. S. Army where he served as Personnel Management Specialist while stationed at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas. After serving our country, he returned to Victoria, Texas and worked at Texas Employment Commissions. Papa also worked at Urban Grocery and Market at night and on Sundays to help support his growing family. He was a husband and proud father of three daughters. He raised his family and attended Trinity Lutheran Church. That tradition continued with his grandchildren. He would prepare a Stanley thermos with cold milk and donuts before Sunday school. He retired from TEC to pursue a self-employment opportunity. He started a firewood and brush control business where his ties with the community were put to use. Papa could talk to anyone. He never met a stranger. Papa would go duck/dove hunting and fished for fun. He made sure his grandchildren went to every Disney movie. He donated avidly to South Texas Blood and Tissue until he was no longer medically able to. At the age of 74, he began working at Walgreens. He was described as the most reliable employee while he was there. His home was always open to his family and he loved to host birthdays and holidays. He leaves behind 3 generations who loved him dearly and will miss him daily. Papa was sentimental and kept detailed records of his familys' achievements and milestones. He made it to many of their events. He will live on in our hearts forever. In addition to his parents, Doyal was preceded in death by his first wife, La Cleata Anna Davis; fourth wife, Lourdes C. Chua; daughter; sisters, Inez Horadam, Ruth Miori, Maureen Armstrong; great-grandson, Rylan Wallace. He is survived by daughters, Debra Culp, Angela Horadam, Kimberly Egg; son, David Burnett; grandchildren, Clare Villanueva (Anthony), Tiffany Carroll (Anthony), Adam Egg (Danielle), Cody Cowsert, Jessica Wallace, JoAnn Horadam (Chris), Danielle Gonik, Amber Horadam, Matthew Hengst, Kelly Jo Burnett, David Wayne Burnett; great-grandchildren, Skylar Crisp, Kade Crisp, Mathieu Carroll, Alannah Carroll, Alyssah Carroll, Sarahlynn Carroll, Grayson Carroll, Ronan Horadam, Oliva Carpenter, Wyatt Egg, Logan Egg, Adeliah Tucker, Jimmy Cowsert, Ryder Cowsert. Dr. Jose V. Ferreira, 84, of Miami Lakes, passed away on Tuesday, November 28, 2023. He was born in Perdoes, Minas Gerais, Brazil on September 3, 1939. He attended The Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais, Brasil from 1960 - 1965 and earned a Medical Degree. He was a House Physician in Januaria, Minas Gerais from 1965-1969. Jose met the love of his life, Oliva Elisabeth Tupina in Januaria, Minas Gerais in 1965. They wed on July 15, 1971. He completed an internship in Toledo, Ohio at Mercy Hospital from 1969-1970. From 1970-1974 he completed a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. He was a House Physician at St. Raphael Hospital in New Haven Connecticut from 1974-1975. Jose was in private practice in Alice, Texas from 1975-1983. Jose and his family moved to Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil in 1983. He returned to the US to build a better life for his family and settled in Miami Lakes, FL in 1984 where he was in private practice until 2023. Throughout his life, Jose was known for his humility, kindness, patience, wisdom, generosity, loyalty, and love for his family. Jose enjoyed nature, the beach, watching tennis and soccer, good food, and spending time with family. He loved being a physician and surgeon. His greatest joy was to be in the company of his grandchildren. Jose is survived by his wife, Oliva Tupina Ferreira, daughter Priscilla Ferreira; and sons Joseph Marc Ferreira; Alexander Ferreira; and Sergio Adrian Ferreira. He is also survived by sisters Leila Mendes Pomarico; Maria Leticia Lin; and Cleuza Maria Mendes Rezende; and brother Paulo Roberto Ferreira. Jose will be missed dearly by his family and all who knew him.Show more
