Debra Bailey Obituary

Debra McDonald Bailey, 55, of Statesville, NC, entered into eternal rest on Thursday,October 5, 2023. She was born in Iredell County on February 28, 1968 to Shirley Dobbins McDonald and the late Edmond McDonald. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Bailey, a sister, Barbara McDonald and a brother Melton McDonald. Debra’s grandchildren whom she loved wholeheartedly, and who in return loved her dearly, were the center of life. Cooking was her lifetime passion in addition to the care of her grandchildren. Those left to embrace her memory are two daughters, Alagra (Star) McDonald of Statesville, Starlete Bailey of Alaska, two sons, Antonio McDonald of Statesville, Thomas Bailey, Jr. of Chicago, two stepdaughters, Sherese Bailey and Estee Bailey both of Virginia, three grandchildren, Devante’ Patterson, Sir Smith and Oriyan McDonald, three brothers, Kelly McDonald, Eugene McDonald, Junior McDonald and a sister, Mary McDonald. A visitation will be held on Friday, October 13, 2023, from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Nicholson Funeral Home. The family will assemble at 226 Jobe Drive, Statesville, NC from 5:00 pm to7:00 pm up to and including the day of visitation. In lieu of flowers, keeping with Debra’s love for her grandchildren, contributions should be made to "Grandchildern of Debra McDonald c/o Alagra McDonald".
