Debbie, "Red" Strickland of Kuna passed away Saturday, December 17, at home after a short, courageous battle with cancer. Debbie was born November 7th, 1950 to Sterling and Doris Daniels. Deb's parents divorced when she was young and she was raised by her Dad, Sterling and her mother, Eunice Daniels from the age of four. Debbie was born with a motherly instinct. Growing up she was often found taking care of her younger siblings and nurturing them. Especially with her youngest sister, Sonnie, forming a bond that will carry them until their union in heaven. Debbie met Larry Bradley in 1969 and they were soon married. From this short union two of her biggest blessings were born, Carrie, in 1970 and Melissa, in 1971. Debbie married the love of her life, Greg Strickland, in May of 1982 on her family's farm. Together Greg and Debbie added one more blessing, Sarah, to complete their family in 1984. Debbie worked the majority of her adult life at Hewlett Packard and the last 13 years of her working career for the State of Idaho. Debbie loved fishing, thrifting for a good deal, camping, and trips to Jackpot, Reno, Tahoe and Seattle. Her biggest love, by far, was loving people and being with her family. While raising her girls, her home was always filled with teenagers laughing, looking for advice, love and acceptance. Deb was that person to everyone that came through her door, showing them unconditional love, an ear to listen, and a swift kick in the pants when needed. Her home and heart was a safe place & refuge for many, including her sister in-law Michelle who lived with Debbie and Greg as a teenager. While the kids were growing up, Deb and Greg would often be found adventuring the mountains, camping and fishing. As an adult Debbie was blessed with reuniting with her older sister, Marilyn. They grew a relationship that had been missing for many years and Debbie's dream of having a true older sister was fulfilled. Deb's heart was like a puzzle that was completed with the arrival of each of her grandchildren; Kyle, Devin, Jessica, Michael, Adam, Lex and Hailey. When you spoke with Deb, you knew that her love for her girls and grandkids was beyond words as she filled you in on what was going on in each of their lives. Debbie loved to laugh, from inside jokes to razzing people, to acting silly with all of those she loved. She had a love for life and time spent with her often led to sore checks and tummies from the laughter shared. If you knew Debbie, you knew the feeling of unconditional love and laughter. This legacy will live on through each of us that were lucky enough to be loved by her. Debbie is survived by her husband of 40 years, Greg Strickland, daughters; Carrie (Tom) Akers of Horseshoe Bend, Melissa (Tim) Eads of Vine Grove, KY, and Sarah (Clint) Watts of Kuna, her grandchildren; Kyle Akers, Devin Eads, Jessica (Dylan) White, Michael Eads, Adam Akers, Lex Watts and Hailey Watts, siblings; Marilyn Davis, Bill Daniels, Sherrie (Vee) Compton, and Sonnie (Dave) House, and numerous nieces and nephews and extended family that love her. She is proceeded in death by her parents Sterling and Eunice Daniels and Doris Jackson, numerous grandparents, brother, Donald Daniels, and niece, Shelley Compton and premature grandson whom she is now holding in heaven. The family will be having a Celebration of Life in the Spring and all who knew her will be invited.
