Roger William Selking, 80, of Columbus, Indiana passed away Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield, Indiana.He was born on December 26, 1943, in Decatur, Indiana to the late William A. Selking and Jennie (Erxleben) Selking. Roger was united in marriage to Melissa Kipfer on August 7, 1970, at First United Methodist Church in Decatur, Indiana.He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in New Palestine, Indiana and was also attending St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Columbus, Indiana. Roger was a member of the American Legion Post #182 in New Palestine, Indiana. Roger graduated from Monmouth High School in 1962. Following his graduation, he was employed at GE as an electrician for 28 years at the Decatur small motor manufacturing plant. After GE closed, he got his Associates Degree in Applied Science and a Bachelor of Science Degree, where he used his new skills by working for Navistar in Indianapolis for 10+ years before retiring. In his retirement years, he really didn’t sit still. He worked for TSA at the Indianapolis Airport and also at the Auto Dealers Exchange where he was proud of his ability in being able to drive a manual transmission vehicle.Roger served in the United States Air Force as an Airman First Class during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged following his service. Roger greatly enjoyed singing in the church choir. He cherished spending time with family at Big Long Lake at the cottage. In his spare time, he liked going to the gun range, bowling, golfing and traveling. Roger is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Melissa Selking of Columbus, Indiana; daughter, Laura (Mike) Hayes of League City, Texas; son, Chris (Staci) Selking of Columbus, Indiana; son, Doug (Rachel) Selking of Carthage, North Carolina; sister, Mariann Koeneman of New Haven, Indiana; brother, Donald Selking of Evansville, Indiana; seven grandchildren, Chloe Selking, Brody Selking, Nora Selking, Jack Selking, Josie Selking, Nathan Davis and Alayne Davis.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two sisters, Virgene Sanders and Dorothy Zeller.A funeral service for Roger will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, March 1, 2024 at St. Paul Lutheran Church – Preble, 4510 W 750 N, Decatur, IN 46733. Burial will follow the service at the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery – Preble with military graveside services will be conducted by the American Legion Post #43 Color Guard.Friends and family will be received from 3-7 p.m. on Thursday, February 29, 2024 at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, 520 N. 2nd Street, Decatur, IN and also one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.Preferred memorials are to Worship Anew or Donor’s Choice.Arrangements are by Zwick and Jahn Funeral Homes of Decatur, Indiana.

Rowland “Archie” Clarence Gorman, 92, passed away on February 20, 2024 at Brandywine Care Center, in Greenfield, Indiana. Rowland was born on December 6, 1931, in Knightstown, Indiana, to Alonzo and Mary Gorman. He was one of seven children.Rowland attended Knightstown High School, but moved to California where he completed high school in Grossman, California. He later served in the United States Navy. On May 31, 1953, Rowland married Carol “Hawkins” Gorman, and to that union was born three children. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge where he was a Past Master of his jurisdiction. After becoming a Master Mason, he joined the York Rites. Rowland was an accomplished artist and enjoyed painting oil paintings.Rowland leaves to Cherish his memory, his daughter, Lovii (Nigam) Arora, five grandchildren and one great-grandchild and one daughter-in-law, Roselee Gorman.He was preceded by his wife, Carol, son, Michael (Roslyn) Gorman, daughter, Melinda J. Gorman, five brothers, Lawrence, Gerald, Lowell, James, and Kenneth, and his sister Mary Flores.A Celebration of Rowland's life will be announced and held at a later date.

Gregory “Brian” Crossman, 65, of Greenfield, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 at Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield. He was born on January 29, 1959, in Greenfield, Indiana, a son of the late Ronald Lee and Peggy Jean (Pryor) Cain. Brian was a 1978 graduate of Knightstown High School. He worked for Corley Construction in Indianapolis for many years and recently worked for himself in roofing. Brian was always a kid at heart and loved anything family-oriented: bonfires, listening to music, and playing with his grandbabies. Brian loved being outdoors and walking, and he especially loved his dogs, Cocoa and Rescue. Those left to cherish Brian’s memory include a son, Joshua Crossman, and a daughter, Emily Crossman, both of Greenfield; two granddaughters, Olivia and Ayrabella Rennier; his first grandson is due in June; brothers and sisters, Shannon Jones of Greenfield, Jeff Crossman, of Greenfield, Leon (Tracy) Cain of Shirley, Davett (Jim) Rednour of Greenfield, and Shelly Griffiths of DeFuniak Springs, Florida; his former wife and dear friend, Angela Muse of Greenfield, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, March 2, 2024 at Heritage Funeral Care in Knightstown. Eugene Francis Mader (68) of Greenfield, Indiana passed away on February 17, 2024. Gene was born to Eugene and Frances Ley Mader on June 15, 1955 in Indianapolis, IN. He graduated from Scecina Memorial High School in 1973 and attended night school at IUPUI to obtain his bachelor's in mechanical engineering. Gene worked at Allison's Transmission for the majority of his career as a tool and die maker and Wire EDM Operator. Gene is survived by his daughter Shelby Mader, sister Roseanne (Tom) Huckleberry, sister Catherine Odle, brother Gerald (Eileen) Mader, and 13 nieces and nephews. Gene was predeceased by his parents Eugene Sr and Frances Mader, and his sisters Jeanette Hall and Marianne Mader, S.P. Gene enjoyed many hobbies such as photography, playing harmonica, dirt biking, movies, and lamp making. He had a huge heart and cared deeply for his animals. Dan was one of five children.Dan graduated high school in 1972 and enlisted in the United States Army, where he worked as a Machinist. After serving 20 years, he retired with honors in 1992. Christine Bernice Chaplin, 66, passed away on Saturday, February 10, 2024. Chrissy was born on March 28, 1957, in Indianapolis, IN, to Blanche E. (Butler) and George F. Chaplin III.Born with epilepsy, Chrissy overcame the odds of thriving through not only a young age that her physicians did not believe she would surpass, but indeed, she did surpass the struggles with her enthusiasm, her kindness, her spirit, her child-like demeanor, her infectious smile and laughter, and so much more. She was tough-as-nails, pure, always happy, worry-free, and carefree. She had not one wrinkle and her skin was like silk. Her love for the small things made even strangers smile, such as constant clapping, grilled cheese sandwiches and Dt. Coke, McDonald’s chicken nuggets and French fries, naptime, and Mr. Lawrence Welk. She loved dogs, stuffed animals, arts and crafts, playing Bingo, music, the color pink, the song “Amazing Grace”, and family. With the new addition of a great-nephew to the family, she was enamored with his presence, telling all at the residence hall his name and being super-proud to show him off. Chrissy attended Fountaintown United Methodist Church. She worked at Shares, Inc. for many years and thoroughly enjoyed her time there.Chrissy is survived by her loving mother, Blanche Chaplin; siblings: George F. (Vicky Lawson-Chaplin) Chaplin IV, Charles E. Chaplin, and Cassandra E. (Shannon) Bromagen; nieces and nephew: Erin D. Waltz, Brianna Baker, Bailey Bowman, and Nathan Bromagen; and great-nephew, Forrest Baker.Chrissy was preceded in death by her father, George F. "GREENFIELD - Ronald Edward Dettlinger, age 87, passed away on Thursday, February 1, 2024, in his home with his loving wife by his side. She cared for him for the last 38 years. Ron was born on January 23, 1937, in Louisville, KY to his late parents, John and Mary Dettlinger. He had a brief stint in the Navy. After the Navy, he met his wife, Dorothy (Dot) and was married on October 6, 1956. Ron’s career path led him to Burrough/Unisys Corporation for the next 30 years where he was the branch manager before retiring. His hard work ethic set a great example for his children and provided a comfortable lifestyle for his family. Prior to his disability, Ron was incredibly talented with his hands. He could build and repair about anything, including home remodeling, decks, and automobile maintenance. He loved gardening, playing cards and boating. And he did not mind a beer or two. Ron and Dot were blessed with four children. They had two sons, Butch (Connie) Dettlinger and Chuck (Kim) Dettlinger, along with two daughters, Becky (Becky Buening) Dettlinger and Sandy (Chuck) Theobald. Ron is also survived by five grandchildren, Missy (Clay) Thoreson, Bennett (Hayley) Dettlinger, Cameron Dettlinger, Nikki (Dan) Lynch, Leslie (John Moguel) Theobald, as well as two in-law grandchildren, Mikel (Jon Hixon) Theobald and Britany Theobald. Ron was also blessed with nine great grandchildren, Sydera, Chelsea, Brielle, Axel, Ethan, Drew, Collin, Norah, and Charlotte. Ron leaves behind three sisters, Donna (Ron) Perkins, Linda (Les) Demaree and MaryAnn Nunn. Ron was proceeded in death by his grandson Chuck Theobald IV and brother-in-law Tom Nunn. Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 4, 2024, from 1:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary \u0026amp; Crematory, 1484 W. US 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, February 5, 2024, at 10:00am at St. Michael Catholic Church, 519 Jefferson Blvd, Greenfield, IN 46140. Fr. Bill Stump will be officiating. "GREENFIELD – Melvin Wayne “Slim” Curry, 87 of Greenfield, passed away on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield. He was born on July 9, 1936, in New Palestine, Indiana. Slim graduated from New Palestine High School with the Class of 1954. He married, Carole Lynn Wierman on July 12, 1958, in Indianapolis. Slim grew up on his family farm and began working at a very young age, which greatly contributed to his life-long hard work ethic. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and was a member of the Indianapolis Teamsters #135. Slim was a true family man and could often be found watching a variety of sports which included, NASCAR, IndyCar, the Indiana Pacers, Indianapolis Colts, or the Cincinnati Reds. Slim is survived by his children, Robin (Randy) Adams of Fairfield, Ohio; Lynne (Tracy) Riley of Greenfield; Tricia Curry of Greenfield; brother, Jim Wampner of Valparaiso; sister, Becky Harter of Indianapolis; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren with two more on their way. He is preceded in death by his mother, Katherine Wampner; wife, Carole Curry; and sister, Linda Stuart. "GREENFIELD – David Kenneth White, age 67, of Greenfield, passed away on Sunday, February 11, 2024, at St. Vincent Carmel Hospital. He was born in Greenfield on February 14, 1956, the son of Kenneth and Helen Jean (Addison) White. David graduated from Greenfield-Central High School in 1974. After high school, he took an agriculture short course at Purdue University. David married Darla (Jones) on February 11, 1978, in Cumberland, IN. He was a lifelong farmer in Hancock County. David was a longtime school bus driver for Greenfield-Central Schools, retiring in 2022. He was the past president of Hancock 4-H Agricultural Association and a past Hancock County 4-H leader. David was a member of the Hancock County Cattleman’s Association and Hancock County FOP. He was a past board member of Hancock County Farm Bureau, Hancock Farm Service Agency, and NineStar Election Committee. Most mornings David would attend McDonald’s Breakfast Club. He enjoyed watching tractor pulls, attending the county fair, and cheering on Butler and Purdue Basketball. He loved supporting his granddaughter in all her activities and hanging out at the FSA Office. Many call him friend and will miss his routine phone calls. David is survived by his loving wife, Darla White of Greenfield. On the day of his passing, they held hands and celebrated 46 wonderful years of marriage. Also surviving are daughter, Lori (Hans) Cooley of Greenfield; granddaughter, Addy Cooley of Greenfield; special sister, Sheryl (Dennis) Smith of Missouri; and several cousins and special friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Helen Jean White. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 15, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary \u0026amp; Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 16, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., at the mortuary. Burial will follow at Washington Park East Cemetery in Indianapolis.
