Michael Cashon Sr

Michael Cashon Sr

Age - 58

November 28, 2023

Services will be held at 11:00 A. M. Friday, December 1, 2023 in the Leonard-Marker Funeral Home Chapel. On January 18, 1965 at 1:59 p. m. , a beautiful blonde headed baby boy was born to Ralph L. Cashon, Jr. and Emma Sue Ballenger Cashon in Tulsa, Oklahoma. MICHAEL SCOTT CASHON would bring joy and complete the Cashon Family, joining his siblings David, Steve and Leasa in their childhood home in Bixby, Oklahoma. On Friday, November 17, 2023 at 4:13 p. m. , that family joy turned to deep sorrow as Scott was escorted by angels from his earthly home to be welcomed by his Lord and Savior. Selfishly, the fleeting 58 years, 9 months, 30 days, 2 hours and 14 minutes we were blessed with this kind and gentle soul transpired far too quickly and his loved ones are now left with only his precious memories until we meet again. From the union of Scott and Darbi Hines, Michael Scott Cashon became Michael Scott Cashon, SR when his son Michael was born. Years later, his sweet Holly would be born. Karlee would complete the Cashon lineup from the union of Scott and Keri Hand. At an early age, Scott was given the title of "Nubbin" by his Grandad. Nubbin was followed by "Scottkins" and then "Scotty". After high school, he was dubbed "Scub the Nub" by his brother Steve. Following graduation, Scott fabricated his new nickname that would forever live on in the family history. He was asked to sign a petition at a hockey game and quickly obliged, giving his name as Bucky Dykes, Jr. All the logical variations such as "Bucky", "Buck", "Big Buck", "Buckster" were tagged on him as he progressed in life, as well as "Scubbers" and "Scubs". Most of the family had their own special nickname to call him and he answered to all of them as he was rarely called by his name!A rowdy and energetic boy, Scott grew up in Bixby, Oklahoma and graduated from Bixby High School in 1983. As a young child, he loved all things nature and was especially fond of falling from trees and breaking his arms! He was blessed with many natural physical talents and excelled in baseball and football during his school years. There was no one on this earth that was a better catfish fisherman than Scott. He excelled at the art of catfishing. Not just catfishing, but pretty much any kind of fishing. Scott alway had a fishing pole ready to go and knew how to find the fish. From flatheads, blues, or those nasty channels, he had it figured out. Crappie, trout, bass, and ocean goers all would fall to his fishing prowess. Although he had an insane love for fishing, some of Scott's greatest joys and happiest times were spent watching and cheering for his children and grandchildren playing sports and exhibiting their natural Cashon athleticism. After graduating, Scott went on to Okmulgee Tech to become an electrical journeyman. He worked in various occupations throughout his life. Whether it was a telphone line installer/technician or a sod farm manager, an electrician, an HVAC installer and repairman, a foundryman, a carpenter or a semi truck driver - Scott was always the hardest working guy on the job and the one everyone would go to for the answers. He always rose to the top due to his intelligence and hard work. He found his calling in life when he began his career at Maggie House in Charleston, Arkansas, where he worked with teenagers in the foster care system who have been through major traumas. From a job sprang inspirtation in him to give hope and help to young, hurting lives. The impact he had on these young men and women is surpassed only by the impact that they made on him, giving him a purpose and happiness he had searched for. The Maggie House staff and kids that were so special to him will always hold a special place in the Cashon family hearts. Scott was preceeded in death by his father, Ralph L. Cashon, Jr; his Grandad and MamMaw, James Wilson (Bill) Ballenger and Myrtle Marie Briley Ballenger; his PawPaw and MamMaw Cashon, Ralph Cashon, Sr. and Lillian Pauline Wood Cashon. Scott will be forever and lovingly be remembered by all those he left behind when he was called home. His love lives on in his son, Michael "Bucky" Scott Cashon, Jr. and his wife Jessica of Skiatook, Oklahoma; his daughter Holly Trimayne Cashon Emeigh and her husband Mathew of Coweta, Oklahoma; his daughter, Karlee Sage Cashon of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; his grandchildren, Jett Cashon, Charlie Grace Cashon and Benji (Benny) Cashon of Skiatook, Oklahoma and Harper Kaye Emeigh and Haven Raye Emeigh of Coweta, Oklahoma. He is also survived by his mother, Emma Sue Cashon of Glenpool, Oklahoma; his brother, David Cashon and his wife Susie of Bradenton, Florida; his brother Steve Cashon and his wife Tisha of Mounds, Oklahoma; his sister Leasa Mulkey and her husband Chris of Glenpool, Oklahoma; his special cousins and caregivers, loyal to the very end, Leslie and Joe Shaw of Bixby, Oklahoma, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles and his furbaby companion, Sissy.
