Deborah A. Nemechek, age 86, of Blue Rapids, passed away on Tuesday, August 8, 2023, at Blue Valley Health and Rehabilitation in Blue Rapids. Debbie Chesney was born in Portland, Oregon on February 2, 1937, to Ina (Carlson) and Harold Chesney. Debbie’s family moved to Seattle, Washington, where she spent many childhood years. Her family made another move to California. Debbie graduated from Carlmont High School in Belmont, California in 1955. Debbie met her first husband a Navy Sailor, Byron Harder. The two were married in 1957. Debbie and Byron moved to Nebraska in 1964, where they raised their three children, Jay, Janet and Jeff. Shortly after divorcing Byron, Debbie met Melvin Nemechek. Melvin and Debbie were married in 1986. They lived out their lives in Blue Rapids. Melvin passed away in 2020. She was a member of the Blue Rapids United Methodist Church. Debbie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Melvin and her ex-husband Byron. Survivors include her children: Jay Harder of Pickrell, Nebraska, Janet (Dave) Newmyer of Wilber, Nebraska, Jeff Harder of Gretna, Nebraska, Bryon (Linda) Nemechek of Waterville, Kevin (Joanne) Nemechek of Inverness, Florida, Diann Elliott of Washington, and Jolene (Roger Miller) Musil of Marysville, a brother Doug Chesney and sister Carol (Bill) Knox, both living in California, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Viewing is from noon to 8:00 pm, Thursday, at Christie-Anderes Funeral Home in Waterville. Funeral services are at 2:00 pm, Friday, August 11, 2023, at the Blue Rapids United Methodist Church with Pastor Berniece Ludlum officiating. Althea Wertz will be the musician. Special recorded music will include "Bridge Over Troubled Water" and "Somewhere Over The Rainbow". Casket Bearers include: Randy Newmyer, Sam Newmyer, Mark Newmyer, Zachary Harder, Jacob Harder and Christopher Harper. Burial is in Riverside Cemetery, Waterville. Misty V. (Hardman) Long, 61 of Blue Rapids, KS passed away Tuesday, November 21st at the Ascension Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan, KS. Visitation will be at Kinsley Mortuary in Marysville, KS on Monday, November 27th from 1-9pm, with family receiving guests from 5-7pm. The funeral service will be held at the Winifred Baptist Church in Winifred on Tuesday, November 28th at 10:00 a. m. , with interment and graveside service to follow at the Antioch Cemetery, southwest of Frankfort. There will be a luncheon following the graveside service at the Winifred Baptist Church. The pallbearers will be Jeremy Long, John Schneider, Eric Claycamp, Mike Gee, Ron Raub and Jeremy Henderson. The honorary pallbearers will be Nathan Ngugi, Harold Ogg and Ken McAlary. Misty was born on May 7, 1962 in Coffeyville, KS to Phillip Sr and Golda Scott. At the age of 2, she was adopted by her loving parents, Francis and Dorothy (King) Hardman of Marysville, KS. She attended school in Marysville, graduating from Marysville High in 1980. Misty later pursued and received her master's degree in business management with emphasis in hospitality. She was unified in marriage to her loving husband, David Long on August 9, 1980. Misty lived a fulfilling life, dedicating herself to serving others. She had a diverse career which included working as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and a Certified Medication Aid (CMA) at various care homes in the area. She also provided compassionate home healthcare to numerous individuals in need. Misty operated a restaurant, Dorothy’s Place in Marysville, KS and also made a positive impact on young minds as a substitute teacher during her career. Misty attended Winifred Baptist Church and later became a member, along with her husband David. During her teenage years, Misty accepted her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at church camp. That led her to a lifelong commitment of Christian service such as volunteering at vacation bible school, bible camps and bible studies, which included starting a bible study at her care home recently. She enjoyed helping with several local community volunteer programs, including the meals on wheels. Misty’s hobbies and interests included doing arts and crafts, with crocheting being one of her favorites. She enjoyed entertaining family and friends, playing piano, cooking, reading and most importantly watching her K-State Wildcats and Kansas City Chiefs. Preceding Misty in death are her biological parents and 2 brothers, as well as her adoptive parents, Francis and Dorothy Hardman. Misty leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication to her family. She is survived by her devoted husband, David Long of Blue Rapids, KS; and her children, Jason Long of Mt Vernon, SD, Carrie Ngugi of Topeka, KS, Kristin Long of Salina, KS, Amanda Long of Plankinton, SD, and Aaron Long of Blue Rapids, KS. She is also survived by her 4 grandchildren, Adrionna (Matthew) Wantoch, Jeremy Long, Becca Long and Nathan Ngugi. In addition to her immediate family, Misty is also survived by her brother, G. N. (Jeannie) Hardman of Lyndon, KS, her sister, Lora Hardman of Lawrence, KS, along with several biological siblings. Her impact on those around her will be remembered fondly and she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. A memorial fund has been established and will be designated at a later time. Harold D. Singleton, 76, of Blue Rapids, KS, died June 26, 2023, at the Blue Valley Health & Rehab in Blue Rapids. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 28, from 4 to 8 p. m. at Padden Funeral Chapel in Frankfort. The family will receive friends from 4-6. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a. m. , Thursday, June 29 at the Padden Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Frankfort City Cemetery. Harold was born January 25, 1947, in Fairbury, NE, to William "Bud" and Alta Mae (Richmond) Singleton. On March 29, 1970, he was united in marriage to Sharon Dowd at the Blue Rapids Baptist Church. He worked as a security guard at Sac & Fox Casino and the Topeka State Hospital. He also worked as a custodian at St. Benedict Catholic School. Harold enjoyed fishing, camping, going to the casino and driving in the country. In his spare time, he worked on small engines and lawn mowers. Harold enjoyed mowing yards and volunteering at the Frankfort Fire Department. He was a member of The Independent Order of Odd Fellows. Harold was preceded in death by his parents and six sisters. Survivors include his wife, Sharon; children, William (Mary) Singleton, Topeka, Paula (Everett) Murk, Blue Rapids, Sue Lineweber, Elba, AL, and Lori (Chad) Patton, Crete, NE; and godchild, Marcie Down, Marysville. LuEtta Bernice Moehlenbrink, 91, Blue Rapids, passed away Thursday, December 1, 2022 at Blue Valley Senior Living in Blue Rapids. A funeral service will be 10:30 a. m. , Tuesday, December 6 at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Marysville. Burial will be in the Immanuel (Hermansberg) Lutheran Cemetery, Bremen. A lunch will be served after the graveside service at Immanuel (Hermansberg) Lutheran Church. LuEtta was born on January 27, 1931 to Paul and Martha (Meyer) Schotte at rural Herkimer, Kansas. She attended Immanuel Lutheran Parochial School, Bremen. On September 7, 1952, she was united in marriage to Arlin D. Moehlenbrink at Immanuel (Hermansberg) Lutheran Church, Bremen. To this union three children were born, Alice, Larry and Kristin. LuEtta was a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, the Evening Circle and the Mt. Calvary Church Choir, for many years. She loved working at the Blue Rapids Medical Clinic for Dr. Lawless and with all her other wonderful coworkers. She belonged to the Crazy 8 Card Club, 20 Century Club and was a 4-H Cooking leader for a few years. LuEtta loved to cook and bake for family and friends. Many will remember her for her delicious cinnamon rolls, pies and her family favorite, fried chicken. She never wanted anyone to leave her table hungry; she loved seeing everyone full. Having all grandsons, she was elated to get two great granddaughters several years ago. LuEtta loved her flower gardens and her big garden she and Arlin raised each year. Nothing pleased her more than to share their bounty with family and neighbors. She also loved to quilt and made many for her family. She was always excited to watch Royals baseball, K-State (first) then KU basketball. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Arlin; sisters, Lyla Schotte and Delores Pralle; brothers, Paul Schotte and Norbert Schotte; and grandson, Andrew Barbour. Survivors include children, Alice (Dan) Barbour, Poplar Bluff, MO, Larry (Diane) Moehlenbrink, Phoenix, AZ, Kristin (John) Collier, Alta Vista; five grandsons, Benjamin (Denise) Barbour, Aaron Barbour, Joel (Jenni) Barbour, Ryan (Katie) Moss, Brandon Dugan; two step-granddaughters, Rachel (Nick) Jones, Amanda (Tyler) Graves; and six great grandchildren, Austin Pasternak, Andrew Pasternak, Georgia Moss, Viviana Jones, Charlie Graves and Lyla Barbour; sister, Anita Holle; sisters-in-law, Darlene Moehlenbrink and Anita Kruse; and many nieces and nephews. Bulah M. Martin, 94, Marysville, died Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at Blue Valley Nursing Home, Blue Rapids. Visitation will be Noon until 9 p. m. , Sunday, March 6 at Kinsley Mortuary. A funeral service will be 10:30 a. m. , Monday, March 7 at the United Methodist Church in Beattie. Burial will be in the Beattie Union Cemetery. Bulah was born November 14, 1927 to Eber Theodore and Austre (Johnson) Frye at Hardy, NE. She attended several schools in her childhood and later graduated from Marysville High School in 1945. After graduation, she worked in the old Randell Hospital in Marysville. When Community Memorial Healthcare was built, she went to work there for thirty-six years and a nurse aide. At the age of 54, she decided to go back to school and became an LPN and worked for twenty more years at CMH, before retiring. On September 18, 1946, she married the love of her life, Howard L. Martin and to this union five boys were born, Steve, Monte, William, Theodore and James. Bulah was a self-taught artist in oil paints and china paints. Her paintings can be found from coast to coast, she taught numerous people of all ages how to paint on canvas and china dishes. Bulah was a member of the United methodist church of Beattie, serving eight years as president of the church and was a member of auxiliary for twenty-five years. She was known to oversee concessions stands at numerous farm sales. Bulah was known as the pie lady of Marshall County in her later years, up to the the age of 90. Preceding her in death were her husband, Howard; son, Monte Martin; daughter-in-law, Wesley Carleen Martin; and great grandchildren, Rykas Moore, Arianna Martin and Ryder Martin. Survivors include sons, Steve (Nancy) Martin, Glenwood, IA, William "Bill" Martin, Marysville, Theodore "Ted" (Ginger) Martin, Blue Rapids, James "Jim" (Kelly) Martin, Batavia, IL; and fifteen grandchildren, thirty-nine great grandchildren and fourteen great-great grandchildren. "Some people come into our lives, leave footprints on our hearts and we are never ever the same. " A memorial fund is established to the Beattie United Methodist Church.
