Geraldine Deanie Thomas Canipe, age 90, of Newton passed away Thursday, April 25, 2019 at her home. Deanie was born January 9, 1929 in Banks County, GA to the late Hamby and Pearl Brown Thomas. She was a member of Westside Baptist Church in Maiden. Deanie accepted Christ at the age of 12 and lived for Him all her life (78 years!). In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 3 sisters and 3 brothers. She is survived by: Husband of 69 years: Alfred Dwight Canipe of the home Daughter: Robbin Peeler and husband Mike of Conover 2 Sons: Sonny Canipe and wife Cheryl of Newton and Rev. Joe Canipe and wife Elaine of Lincolnton 4 Granddaughters: Summer Hoelter and wife Katie of Belmont, Christy DeHart and husband Jason of Maiden, Hope Janowitz and husband David of Pisgah Forest, NC and Alishia Lidke and husband Ray of Newton 5 Grandsons: Joshua Canipe and wife Michelle of TX, Jason Canipe and wife Ashley of VA, Andrew Pennell and wife Hilary of MI, Josh Peeler of Charlotte and Stephen Peeler of Hickory 12 Great Grandchildren The funeral service will be on Sunday, April 28, 2019 at 4:00 p.m. at Westside Baptist Church in Maiden with Rev. Bud Painter and Rev. Jason Canipe officiating. Burial will follow at Maiden City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2:00- 3:45 p.m. at the church, prior to the service.
