With sadness and compassion, Craig R. Tremble Funeral Homes, Inc. , Statesboro Chapel, along with the Family, announce the passing of Deacon James Fred "Stucky" Smith. Deacon Smith, age 88, passed peacefully away on Friday, September 8, 2023 surrounded by family, at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah, GA. Deacon Smith was born and raised in Bulloch County. He received his high school education at Williams James High School, graduating in 1954. Upon graduating, he went on to pursue his college education at Savannah State University, formerly known as Savannah State College, receiving a bachelor's degree in Mathematics in 1964 and a master's degree in Elementary Education in 1974. He spent many years as an Educator, retiring from the Bulloch County Board of Education in 1994. Deacon Smith was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a proud member of many civic affiliations namely, William James Elks Lodge #1346, a mason with Widow Son Lodge #396, the Lucky Ten Club and a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. He was the Chairman of Finance at the Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Association. Deacon Smith served faithfully as a deacon of The Little Bethel Missionary Baptist Church of Brooklet, GA. Deacon Smith leaves to cherish fond memories with his lovely wife of "62" years, Jannie Ruth Smith, Brooklet, GA; daughters, Jennifer Smith, Lawrenceville, GA and Lawanda Johnson, Clito, GA; son, Dwayne (Kathy) Smith, Pembroke, GA; five grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. He enjoyed numerous activities, especially wrestling, playing video games, football with his dad and brothers, soccer, drums, guitar and playing the piano. He especially loved his family. Ms. Eleni Michele Radford, 30, of Statesboro passed away Sunday, December 3, 2023. Ms. Radford was born February 11,1993 to Christopher Alan Radford and Patricia Fries in Millen. She grew up in Summertown, Georgia with her daddy, her bonus mom Lindsey and her sisters, Taylor, Brailey, and Colbie. She attended Swainsboro Elementary school, but later transferred to Emanuel County Institute where she completed her schooling in 2011. Eleni had a large extended family with many people that loved her. Some of her special family includes her extra parents, Charity & Timmy McManus, grandparents Larry & Deborah Flake and her sister, Kourtney. Eleni loved to camp, fish and shop. Spending time with her family was her favorite thing to do. Her most favorite thing of all was she loved being a mother to her three children Hunter, Enlee, and J. J. Eleni was a devoted mother that loved her children very much. She had a heart of gold. She loved big and she loved hard. Eleni's love was always pure and unconditional. Eleni was a true angel on earth. She is preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Larry Flake. Ms. Radford is survived by her parents, Chris & Lindsey Radford of Midville, Charity & Timmy McManus of Hephzibah, Patricia Fries of Millen; sons, Hunter Radford, J. J. Judy Garland Zetterower Futch, age 85, passed away on November 28, 2023, surrounded by her loving family at Southern Manor in Statesboro. She was born on August 6, 1938, in Statesboro, GA to Robert and Jewell Hunter Zetterower. With a heart as big as the Georgia sky, Judi dedicated her life to being a homemaker and spreading love and kindness to all those she encountered. Judy had a personality that radiated warmth and compassion. She embodied generosity and selflessness, always willing to lend a helping hand or give someone the shirt off her back. Her love for people was evident in every aspect of her life. Judy found joy in assisting others and making a positive impact on their lives. When it came to her hobbies and interests, Judy had a love for the simple pleasures in life. Camping trips with her family provided cherished memories of adventure and togetherness. She also enjoyed the peacefulness of picking up pecans during autumn and took great pleasure in listening to the soothing melodies of bluegrass music. Judy's family meant everything to her, and she cherished each moment spent with them. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, as well as her devoted husband of 54 years, Mr. Rufus Futch, and their son Floyd Futch. She is survived by her loving son and daughters-in-law, Jake and Kim Futch, along with Lynn Futch; as well as her daughter and son-in-law Miriam and John David Donaldson - all residing in Statesboro. A brother, Owen Zetterower of Statesboro; Judy's grandchildren include Hunter Futch of Brevard, NC; Sally Marie Futch of Statesboro, Lindsay (Matt) Beatty of Savannah; Chad Love (Lexie Monroe) of Meldrim, Madelyn Love, JD Donaldson, Hayden Futch, and Luke Futch, all of Statesboro; many great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and her K9 companion, BiBiThe family will receive friends beginning at 10:00am on Thursday, November 30, 2023 from the Statesboro Primitive Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. Lizzie Mae Alvin was born in Jenkins County on August 4, 1944 to the late Mr. James and Mrs. Agnes Scott. She departed this life on Friday, November 17, 2023 at Azalea Health & Rehabilitation Center in Metter. She attended Willow Hill School in Portal, then later transferred to William James High School in Statesboro, Georgia. She was employed by Pleasant View Nursing Home in Metter for many years. Lizzie met Danforth Alvin in Metter, GA. The couple married in 1999. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Danny Herrington; and three brothers: Albert Scott, Lee James Scott and Jimmy Scott. , age 82, passed early Friday, November 17th, 2023, at Heritage Inn Health and Rehabilitation Center. Andy was from southern Maine and moved to Georgia in 2004. He served in the Army in the early 1960's and did maintenance work throughout his career. He liked to be known as "Handy Andy". He enjoyed listening to 50's and 60's country music. Andy was fascinated by geology. He obtained his amateur radio license (ham) and his call sign was KB1CWM. Andy loved cats and rescued several throughout his life. He enjoyed tent camping and organized various camping trips with friends and family throughout his life. He is predeceased by his wife Viola Michaud (Marcus), his sister Dorothy (Donald) Cassidy and his son Dean (Anita) Michaud. He is survived by his twin sister Judy (Emile) Cote, his brother Terry (Phyllis) Michaud, and his sister Bernice (Howard) Christianson, his two (2) children Kelli (Bartley) Hainz, and son Andrew (Lindsey) Michaud Jr. In addition, his grandchildren, Drew "Kole" Hainz, Daniel Michaud, Lake Hainz, Samantha Neal (Michaud), Oliver Michaud and seven (7) great grandchildren. Alphalene Bowers, 84, of Statesboro, Ga, passed away after a long battle with dementia, on Thursday, November 16, 2023, at Azalea Health and Rehabilitation. Alphalene was born in Millen, Georgia, she was the daughter of Alfred and Coleen Farrow. She was married to Lester Earl Bowers for many years, until his passing. She worked for several years in Environmental Services at Candler County Hospital. Alphalene enjoyed spending her time fishing at the Altamaha River with her late husband, Earl. She also had a joy of cooking for others and shopping. Alphalene and her good friend, Mildred Bragg, spent a good bit of time together dancing. In addition to her parents and her husband, she is preceded in death by her son, Curtis Mark Bowers, and her daughter, Vickie Ann Bowers. Her memory is kept alive by her daughter, Jeanie (Gerald) Tucker; her longtime companion, James Hayslip; grandchildren, Jerica Tucker, Brian (Ashley) Chester, Michael (Robin) Chester, Lindsay (Brian) Peeples, and Erin (Tommy) Baldridge; 9 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
