"Dawnita Lynette Thompson, age 60, of Grand Island, passed away suddenly Thursday evening, September 28, 2023, at Bryan Hospital due to complications during a surgery to repair her heart. A memorial service and celebration of Dawnita\u0027s life will be held at 11:00 a. m. Friday, October 6, at All Faiths Funeral Home. A gathering of friends and family will be held on Thursday, October 5, from 4-6 p. m. followed by a Rosary at 6 p. m. Dawnita was born July 5, 1963, in Grand Island, the daughter of Donald and Ramona Kelly. She grew up in Grand Island and graduated from Grand Island Sr. High. The last 12 years of her life she was employed by Aldridge Pite LLP as an auditor. Dawnita will be remembered most for her outgoing personality and her positive outlook on life. She always wore a beautiful smile and always saw the best in people and life in general. Dawnita loved fishing with Stacey and members of his family. She also loved watching her grandchildren compete in sports and other school activities. She enjoyed the family life and being with family and friends. Dawnita also loved traveling, sightseeing, nature, casinos, Husker football, and socializing. She was a people person with a heart of gold. She lit up a room with her presence and impacted people's lives with her laughter and positive attitude. Dawnita will be truly missed and never forgotten. Dawnita was preceded in death by husbands, Bill Stahl and Jimmy Gregory; and cousins Mark Peace and Gary Peace. Those who cherish her memories included her mother and father, Don and Ramona; brother, Jeff and his wife Vicki; significant other, Stacey and Stacey\u0027s entire family, sons, Robert Stahl and Tony Stahl; Robert's two sons, Memphis and Evan, stepdaughter, Marrisa and family; uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and all of her dear friends. Marilyn J Musil, 78, of Ravenna, Nebraska passed away on November 27, 2023 at CHI St. Francis Hospital after a long battle with cancer. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. She was born on May 1, 1945 to Gale and Helen (Davis) Benson in Grand Island, Nebraska. She grew up and attended school in Grand Island, Nebraska. She married William L. Baker in 1964 and was divorced in 1980. She married Alan Musil on August 20, 1982. They made their home in Ravenna, Nebraska. While living in Ravenna Marilyn enjoyed helping at the Senior Citizen Center. During her life Marilyn worked several different places including Delicious Food in Grand Island, Nebraska; Leon's Plastics in Alda, Nebraska; Good Samaritan Center, Dew Drop Inn, Henningson's and City Hall in Ravenna; Baldwin Filters in Kearney, Nebraska. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband Alan, her daughter Helen (Tim) Bockerman of Kearney, Nebraska; her son Sean (Beth) Baker of Cypress, Texas; brothers Gary Benson and Roger Benson and her sister Glenda (Bruce) Rodabaugh; her sister-in-law Sandra Benson; her grandsons Jacob, Nathanial and Anthony; her granddaughters Briana and Devon; great-grandson Sean. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother Dennis Benson; her sons William (Billy) Baker; Gale Baker and David Baker, both deceased at birth; her grandson Daniel. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, reading and playing games on her Kindle. "Lonnie Charles John at the age of 74, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 10, 2023 at the Nebraska VA Hospital in Grand Island, NE, surrounded by his family after an 18-year fearless and courageous battle with cancer. Lonnie's wishes were for cremation. All Faiths Funeral Home is assisting the family. The family wishes to thank Dr. King and the third-floor staff at the VA Hospital, for their kindness and care during our last moments with Lonnie. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, November 17, 2023, from 2-4pm, at the United Veterans Club in the Liberty Room on Capital Ave. The Celebration will kick off with Military Honors at 2 pm. Dress casual but remember Lonnie's dress code - sweats, t-shirts, and flannel shirts. Lonnie was born March 4, 1949, in a farm house in Valley County Nebraska to Lumir and Ruby (Layher) John. After graduating from Ord High School, he started working at Sperry New Holland which lasted 34 years until his retirement. He was drafted into the Marine Corps in April of 1969, serving a tour of duty in Vietnam, and honorably discharged on December of 1970. Three months after returning home, Lonnie married his senior prom date and the love of his life, Connie L. Wajda, in Ord, NE. Lonnie always said he'd pluck her out of the hills in Valley County. To this wonderful union their daughter Erin Lou and son Adam Charles, joined them in their ventures through life. Lonnie was a great father, coaching his kids in all sports on the field and in the stands. The John's house, was the gathering place for the neighborhood kids because Lonnie was a player as well as a coach. After retirement, he was an all-weather walker with his four-legged companion, Lexi. "Papa" was also a full -time chauffer on- call to help with his eight granddaughters. His greatest joy was cheering for his granddaughters at dance recitals and sporting events. Lonnie and Connie Shared a life time of family and friends and memories traveling, camping, and riding ATV's. Lonnie was a member of the Grand Island United Veterans Club and the Saddle Club. He is survived by Connie, his wife of 52 married years; daughter Erin (Chad) Ackerson and their daughters, Emily, Rylee, and Payton all of Clarks, NE; son Adam (Jolene) John and their daughters, Maly, Lauryn, Annaston, Maddi, and Ellie all of Kearney, NE; mother-in-law, Vivian Wajda of Grand Island; sister, Lana (Larry) Blair of Shreveport, LA; brothers, Gordie (Linda) John of Brady, NE, and Danny (Jennifer) John of Sun Valley, AZ; sister-in-law, Rowena Wajda of Elba, NE; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Lonnie never met a stranger and would always talk to anyone. Lonnie was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law, Louie Wajda; brother-in-law, Larry Wajda; nephew, Eric John; and some close friends of the "basement boys. Julie M. Epperly, 86, left this world to be with her Lord on November 15, 2023. She had family and friends by her side at the Grand Island Regional Medical Center. As per her wish, cremation was chosen. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with family. Julie was born on May 25, 1937 in Akron, Ioana to John Norcross Thatcher and Vera Lucille Adams. She grew up on the farm near Akron and attended the Akron school system. She attended Minnesota Bible College in Minneapolis, MN at the same time as Bill Miller, who became a professor at Nebraska Christian College in Norfolk, NE. Thee of her sons attended NCC when Bill was a professor there. She met her husband, Dick, at a grocery store/ice cream parlor there in Minneapolis. They were married on May 10, 1957 in Akron, Iowa. Dick and Julie lived in Iowa twice, Minnesota, Kansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico and then Grand Island, NE. Each of the four boys was born in a different state. Corrie was born in Minnesota, Mark in Oklahoma, Tom in Iowa and Darin in Nebraska. Julie was a homemaker but did work a couple places for a few years after the boys were older. Dick and Julie were charter members of Third City Christain Church of Grand Island. They later became members of the Stolley Park Church of Christ in Grand Island. They had many friends from both congregations. Julie babysat her granddaughter, Jasmine, until she started first grade while mom and dad worked. They became very close and made many memories together. Julie enjoyed painting with her friend, Kathy Boggs and many people asked for advice on many things. She was a strong Christian woman. Julie was preceded in death by her husband, Dick, in April of 2017; six of her seven siblings and their spouses, the last brother-in-law, her parents and grandparents: Lewis H. and Elizabeth (Paice) Adams and Isaac B. and Sarah Jane (Mitchell) Thatcher. She is survived by her four boys and spouses: Corrie & Julie of Albany, Oregon & his four children - C J & wife, Katrina Renee and children, Chloe, Hannah, Andrew & Christopher; Kristin and child, Jordan; Tyler & Kelela; and Tiffany & husband, Bryse Greene and children, Nash & Ivy -- Mark & Doreen of Marquette, Nebraska and daughter, Jasmine - Tom & Kristen of Ashland, Kentucky & his four girls - September & husband, Bryan and their three girls, Amelia, Violet & Penny; Sarah & husband, Nathon and their children Elijah & Lydia; Courtney and her two children, Artie & Scarlet; and his fourth daughter, Haley - Darin & Jan of Norfolk, Nebraska and their two children, Kaytlin & Jackson - and one sister, Ruth of North Carolina. "Sara Ann Baker (Van Vuren), age 60, of Centerville, IA, formerly of Grand Island, NE, passed away on Tuesday, November 14, 2023. Sara was born on July 4, 1963, in Grand Island, NE, to Edward Van Vuren and Sharon (Lewton) Trampe. She was raised by Ronald and Sharon Trampe and graduated from Grand Island Sr. High in 1982. Sara then attended Wayne State College, graduating in 1986 with a Bachelor of Science degree. Sara was blessed with 2 sons, Cameron and Caleb. Sara began her career in the Human Services field at the Department of Health and Human Services in Nebraska, before moving to Iowa in 2000 and working for the Iowa Department of Human Services. She held various positions including social worker, adoption worker, CPW (Child Protective Worker) and most recently, supervisor. Throughout her career, she devoted her time to many different projects, such as being Supervisor for Family Treatment Court, Parent-Partner Liaison, and working with the Protect and Connect Team as well as the Equity Team. Sara had a very strong work ethic. She was very kind, compassionate and generous and dedicated her life to helping others. Sara enjoyed being outdoors and fishing. She also enjoyed playing Pitch and Cribbage with her family. Sara loved to spend time visiting with her friends and family. Sara's true joy in life was being a devoted mother to Cameron and Caleb. She never missed an event of theirs, no matter how far she had to travel to get there. She was a very proud grandmother, loving daughter, caring sister, and loyal friend who will be missed by many. Sara is survived by 2 sons, Cameron Baker and Caleb (Katie) Baker; 2 grandchildren, Rory and Reese Baker; a sister, Cindy (Mark) Dardis; and 2 brothers, Brett Van Vuren and Travis Trampe. Sara is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, good friends, and her work family. Sara was preceded in death by her parents, Edward VanVuren and Ronald and Sharon Trampe; a sister, Kristi Van Vuren; and an aunt, Velma (Sam) Highley. A Celebration of Life will be held from 1:00-4:00 p. m. on Sunday, November 19, 2023, at Albia Golf, 300 N Country Club Rd. , Albia, IA 52531. Donna K. Repenn, 84, of Grand Island, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 14, 2023, with her loving family by her side at CHI Health - St. Francis Medical Center, in Grand Island, Nebraska. A Celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 A. M. on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at Jacobsen-Greenway-Dietz Funeral Home in St. Paul - 411 "O Street, Nebraska. Pastor Daniel Bear is officiating. Donna was born to Eugene & Lola (Ganow) Engle in Grand Island, Nebraska on December 22, 1938. The family moved to Exeter where Donna attended school, graduating from Exeter High in 1957. Donna married Arlan Ehlers in 1958. To this union, six children were born. Donna and Arlan were also foster parents to multiple children throughout their years of marriage. Donna was later married to Henry Repenn in 2008. The couple resided in Palmer, where she was actively involved in the community, senior center, and the church. Donna was a loyal employee of Dreisbach's Restaurant for 15 years. Donna then received her insurance license and taught pre-licensing and continuing education out of her home. Donna's greatest joys were spending her weekends at Skate Island, driving the Eddy Street underpass, cemetery tours, and riding the elevator at the Golden Towers with all her children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Donna enjoyed camping and traveling with her family. Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Russell Ehlers of Grand Island, Bobby (Christine) Ehlers of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Joe (Cathy) Ehlers of Alma; daughters, Judy Griffin of Florida, and Tina Ehlers of Lincoln; sisters, Janice and John Miller, Sandy Bock and special friend Larry Plasek of David City, and Glenda & Richard Cole of Columbus; 15 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
