Elaine Somers, age 83, passed away peacefully at Dimensions Assisted Living Facility in Burr Ridge, on Tuesday, October 24, 2023. She is survived by her children, Robert E. (Debbie) Thompson III, and Tracy L. (Sebastian) Unger; grandchildren, Andrea Thompson, Eric Thompson, Annelise Thompson, Alaina Thompson, Annemarie Thompson, Amalia Thompson, Emily Unger and Christian Unger; and her sister Judy (late George) Marshall. Preceded in death by her husband Robert Thompson Jr. ; parents Paul and Adele Zegley;Elaine will be remembered for being a genuinely kind and caring person. She loved to rescue animals and volunteered at the Women's Crisis Center. When she was younger, she worked as a Special Religious Head Coordinator at St. Terrence in Alsip. She was also a Hospital Volunteer in the Emergency room at the St. Francis Hospital in Blue Island for many years. Services for Elaine will take place on Friday, October 27, 2023 at St. Jude Catholic Church, 241 W. 2nd Street in New Lenox, with a Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 10am.Show more

Rita A. Ohlson (nee Robertson) Rita A. Ohlson, 94, passed from this life into eternal life on May 24, 2023 in Burr Ridge, surrounded by the love of her family. Rita was born on February 11, 1929, in Chicago, IL, the only daughter of the late John and Loretta (nee Wall) Robertson. She was a graduate of Lucy L. Flower Vocational High School and the College of St. Francis in the St. Joseph's Nursing Program where she attained an RN and worked at Hines VA Hosptial in Maywood. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all who were blessed to know her. Rita was a devout Catholic who led by example. She was an active parishioner of the Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus, where she was a Lector for many years and was also in the prayer and rosary group, leading the rosary for many years. Rita was also a Secular Franciscan. Rita is survived by her children, Grant III (Jean), Debra Ann, John (Lavonne), Loretta (Scott) McWilliams, and Thomas (Paula); grandchildren, Gwen (Joe) Smith, Brenna (Morgan Keller) Ohlson, Grant M. (Melissa) Ohlson, John (Tara) Ohlson, James (Melissa) Ohlson, Scott and Zachary McWilliams, and Reed and Cooper Ohlson; step-grandchildren, Crystn (Mike) Zloza, Lauren (Jeff) Duncan, and Samatha (Steve) Reese; and13 great-grandchildren. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. She is preceded by her loving husband of 57 years, Grant W. Ohlson, Jr. ; her parents; and one brother, John J. (Henrietta) Robertson. The family would like to thank Kathy Kowalska for the many dedicated years of loving care that she provided as well as the staff of Dimensions Living of Burr Ridge. Funeral Services for Rita A. Hon. Gregory Robert Ginex, retired Cook County Associate Judge, age 75, of Burr Ridge, Illinois, passed away April 6, 2023. Born on September 25, 1947 to Angelo and Nelda Ginex. Beloved husband of 48 years to Wanda Ginex, father to Angela, Gregory (Marla) and Joseph (Grace), and grandfather to Grace and Lucy. He is survived by his brother, Riccardo (Karen), brother-in-law, Peter (Kathy), and brother-in-law, Joseph (Ann Marie). He is also survived by nieces and nephews, Carlo (Amy), Mario (Aimee), Anthony (Victoria), Sheri (Jim), and Dianna (Peter), as well as many great-nieces and nephews and cousins. An avid reader and traveler, with strong pride in his Italian heritage, and boundless generosity toward his family and friends. A highly respected member of the Illinois judiciary, he will be fondly remembered by his many colleagues and friends. Nicole is survived by her parents Richard and Pat Carlson; son Max Jansons, Chicago IL; sisters Stephanie Crider, Troy, IL, Shelle (Jason) Crabtree, Tarpon Springs, FL, Kara (Jan) Petersen, Woodlawn, IL; her partner for 21 years, Ray Baldi, Burr Ridge IL. Nephew Dawson Crist, Troy, IL; nieces Savanna and Ryan Ann Petersen, Woodlawn, IL; uncle David (Diana) Higgins, Waltonville, IL; aunt Donna Lynch, San Jose, CA. After she graduated from Mt. Vernon Township High in 1987, she went on to study at Illinois State University. Shortly after graduation with a degree in Business Administration, Nicole moved to Chicago and started her first job at the Cubby Bear then moved into the financial investments world with Schwab and a financial advisor with Chase Bank. She established DIY Media Group Network Marketing Consultant and currently was involved in its operation. Nicole will be remembered as a giving soul with a heart of gold. Everyone that knew her can attest to that. She always said the greatest achievement of her life was her son Maxwell.
