A funeral service will be held for Dawn McNeill at Greenoaks Funeral Home located at 9595 Florida Blvd on Saturday, April 29, 2023, at 11:00 AM with visitation from 10:00- 11:00 AM. Dawn entered the loving arms of her Lord and Savior in the late afternoon of Tuesday April 18, 2023, leaving behind her family and her many friends. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She loved spending time with all of children as well as her grandchildren, many loved ones and friends. Dawn never met a stranger, whether in the grocery line, watching her grandkids at different sporting events, while at church, or just walking around the block. Those who had the pleasure of meeting Dawn, know that she lit up every room she entered and did so with her knack for designing her outfit complete with the jewelry that spoke the loudest. She loved reading, fresh flowers-especially sunflowers, going to church, red wine from a box, seafood, and was never one to turn down a spicy Bloody Mary. An avid LSU fan, she watched any sport that bore their name. Dawn was born in Dallas, Texas and was the daughter of the late Genevieve Cagle and Matt Schneider. She was preceded in death by her eldest son, Jay Russell. Dawn leaves behind her loving husband of 47 years, Dave McNeill; sons: Scott Russell of Santa Rosa Beach, FL, Richard Russell (Fran) of New Roads, LA and James McNeill of Santa Rosa Beach, FL and daughter-in-law, Cheryl; grandchildren: Joey Russell (Hedi), Laura Schesser, Brennan Russell (Skyler), Stephanie DeLisi (Nick), Meghan Russell and Mari Russell; and great-grandchildren: Logan, Madison, Chloe, Avery, Brody, Allie, and Duncan. Dawn has one great-great-granddaughter, Baylor. She is also survived by her brother Michael M. Schneider, a retired U. S. Army Brigadier General (Paralee), nephews Michael M. Schneider Jr (Margaret Mary) and Steven Schenider along with their children. In lieu of flowers, please take a moment to express prayers for those dealing with the debilitating disease of Dementia. A special thanks to her devoted caregivers: Sonya Guillory, Charlotte Goins-Jones and Kim Rogers.
