David was born in St Paul MN to Earl and Carol Truitt. He graduated from St. Paul Open School in 1979. He joined the US Navy in 1980 and actively served through 1985, transferring to the Naval Reserves until the end of his career. He worked as an equipment mechanic for the VA Medical Center in Minneapolis for 30 years, retiring in 2020. He had many interests and hobbies and was always busy working on them, often several at once. He was creative and artistic, with a love of learning and discovery. He loved the outdoors, boating, camping and hunting. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Cassie Sweeney-Truitt, as well as an aunt and uncle, many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother Carol and brother Paul. He will be deeply and forever missed. David’s celebration of life will be held in the Oak Room at Sweeney’s Saloon at 96 Dale St in St. Paul on September 3 from 2:00-5:00 PM.

Nancy Lou Pedersen was born in Austin, MN. to parents Leonard McLane Flannery and Margaret Dunbar Flannery. Preceded in death by parents, Leonard and Margret Flannery; father and mother-in-law, Carlos and Elvina Pedersen; sisters, Patricia Brooks (Richard), and Mary Margret Johnsen (Mike); brother, James Dunbar Flannery (Jo); children, Carolyn Jean Pedersen Ebner (Christoph) , and David K. Pedersen. Survived by husband of 65 years, Kenneth D. Pedersen; brother-in-law, Robert C. Pedersen and sister-in-law, Karen Pedersen, sister-in-law, Lorelei Bliss (Rick); and several nieces and nephews . Nancy graduated from Austin H. S (1953), Austin Community College (1955), and Macalester College (1957). She married Kenneth D. Pedersen in December 1958. They began their married life in Isle, MN. Ken taught history and assisted with coaching, Nance taught elementary school. After Isle, new job opportunities for Ken led them to Hendricks, MN. (59-61), Barnesville, MN (61-63), Fairmont, MN (63-65), Albert Lea, MN (65-70), Roseville, MN (70-73), and Stillwater, MN (73- present). Family was Nancy’s priority: Carolyn - born in Hendricks, MN 1960 (huge two-day snow storm and 20-plus hours of labor may have caused a bit of rethinking) and David - in Moorhead, MN 1962 (the doctor never made it to the hospital for the birth). Travel, camping, bible camps, church, reading, knitting prayer shawls (170) which were given to others. Also volunteer work with shut-ins, starting a restaurant with two other women, houseboat trips on the St. Croix with family and providing aid, encouragement, and assistance to those in need. She was active with the Stillwater Public Library Board, Christian Women’ groups. Bible studies, and part-time work with Woodbury Lutheran Church. Staying busy and giving to others was important to her. Memorials preferred to Valley Outreach. St. Croix Croix Valley Foundation, Carolyn J. and David Pedersen Scholarship Fund. Helen Chiarella (Franek) Age 94 of Oak Park Heights, formerly of St. Paul, MN Passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on December 7th, 2023. She was preceded in death by her loving husband George, parents Helen and Joseph Franek, son George, siblings Ray Franek, Marlene Knack, Joe Franek and Catherine Lighten. She is survived by her son Steve (Sue) and daughter-in-law Linda, grandchildren Jason (Amy), Heather, Jenny (Matt), Lindsay, Steve, Kristine (Daren) and Brian (Kathy) as well as great-grandchildren Adam, Luke, Hannah, Maya, Sophie, Evie, Arianna, Jaxson, Kaitlyn and Nicholas. She retired after a long career with Bailey Nursery. In retirement she kept busy being active in her church, volunteering for The Missionary Sisters of St. Peter Claver, gardening and spending as much time as she could with her loved ones. You could always find her at any of her grandkids sporting events, recitals, birthdays, and she always put her beloved family first. Helen was devoted to her Catholic faith and held on strongly to her relationship with Christ. Helen was an avid cookie baker especially her Christmas cookie varieties which were a pleasure for all. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Croix Hospice or The Missionary Sisters of St. Peter Claver.
