David Starr passed away peacefully on May 4, 2023, at the Cardinal in North Hills, his Raleigh home. He was born July 31, 1932, in Malden, Massachusetts to parents Herbert and Stella Starr. He is survived by his wife, Oneida Park Starr; his three children, Wendy Smith (Stephen), Sandra Starr (Paul Baumgardner), Bradley Starr (Carla); three grandchildren, Benjamin Starr (Sarah), Hunter Starr (fiance Kaitlyn), Stephen "Blair" Smith, JR. ; and three great grandchildren, Mary Austin Starr, Payton Starr, and David Starr. David grew up in Malden, Massachusetts and graduated from Northeastern University in 1955 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering. He served as a 1st Lieutenant in the Army and enjoyed a long career with General Electric as a Quality Manager contributing to multiple business segments, including the Aircraft Engine Division in Cincinnati where he ended his career. Dave was a devoted husband and father, married to his high school sweetheart Laura Mae Babcock for 54 years. Dave walked with Laura through her challenge with kidney disease and managed her care flawlessly. Later in life he married Oneida Park, and they enjoyed ten years of life together. Dave's lifelong passion for travel and exploration led him to the International Airstream Club. He attended several international rallies and caravans and traveled to Alaska twice. Dave was an athlete and meticulously tracked his exercise throughout his life. His favorite sport was tennis and he enjoyed playing, attending tournaments, and watching the pros on television. Dave will be remembered as an eternal optimist, his optimism driven by his unwavering and confident faith which he freely shared. He was generous with his leadership skills, serving his church and civic organizations. His amazing smile and encouraging words will be missed by many. The family would like to thank Franca, Efe, Patricia and Margaret, his devoted caregivers, and Transitions Lifecare. All provided valuable dedicated service. The family will have a private service in Raleigh on Tuesday, May 9th followed by interment in Cincinnati.
