David Salazar, Sr. passed from this life on April 8, 2023 from his home in Lubbock at the age of 91. He was born December 29, 1931 in Falls City, Texas to Cresencio and San Juana Isabell Salazar. He married September 23, 1950 in Lubbock County and they shared 62 years together. David was a self-employed master stone carver. He was well known throughout West Texas, New Mexico, and Kansas in the cemetery industry for his master craftsmanship in designing monument carvings. David was a member of the Templo El Buen Pastor. He enjoyed preaching, playing guitar, singing, and watching western movies. He was a fan of the Texas Rangers and Dallas Cowboys. David will be remembered as a loving, caring husband, father, and grandfather. He was loyal to his church and family. David is survived by his ten children Abel Salazar, Isabel and David Hernandez, Freddie and Yvette Salazar, Yolanda and Armando Camunes, Beatrice and Samuel Guiterrez, Jessie Salazar, Jacob and Gloria Salazar, Bobby Salazar, Joel and Rafaela Salazar, Joseph Salazar his adopted grandson, 27 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his sons Cresencio Salazar and David Salazar Jr, his wife Erminia Salazar, and his grandson John Michael Smiley. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 13 at 10:00 a. m. at Templo El Buen Pastor 1111 36th Street Lubbock, TX with Reverend Miguel Casanova officiating. Interment will follow at the City of Lubbock Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 12 at Guajardo Funeral Chapels from 3:00 to 9:00 p. m. with a prayer service at 7:00.
