Ronald Jack Mears, 75, passed away on December 2, 2023, with his family by his side. He was born on February 17, 1948 to Jack and Doris Mears in Natchez, Mississippi. He grew up in Meridian, Mississippi and attended the Mississippi School for the Deaf. He then attended and graduated from Gallaudet University in Washington, D. C. in 1973. It was there at Gallaudet that he met his lifelong sweetheart, Nancy. Ron and Nancy married in 1974 and settled in Jackson, MS where they welcomed and raised their three children, Bill, Steve, and Laura. Ron began working for the United States Post Office and worked the night shift there for over 35 years until his retirement in 2009. He was affectionately known as "Bulldog" Mears by his co-workers because of his devout love for his Mississippi State Bulldogs. Anyone who knew Ron would attest that he was a hard worker at his job and also to anyone around him who requested assistance. He was often chosen to be the treasurer of several different organizations throughout high school, college, and even beyond because he possessed a knack for "crunching numbers". The jobs that his family would say he worked the hardest at were being a provider and being a present husband, father, and perhaps his favorite job of all, being a grandfather (Bampa). His love for his 5 grandchildren was evident by the way he lit up when he was with them or even when he just talked about them. Ron is preceded in death by his parents Jack and Doris Mears.
