Mr. David Jamel Lingard, 42, passed on Sunday, September 24, 2023 at his residence. Born May 26, 1981 in Yonkers, NY, he was the son of Shirelle Lingard, David Lee Walton and step-mother, Celine Walton. Educated in the public schools of Rowan County, he attended Salisbury High School. He was last employed as a maintenance worker with Cracker Barrell. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Diane Lingard, Leroy Payton, Beatrice Walton and William Goode; and sister, Sparkle Walton. Those left to cherish his memories are his mother, Shirelle Lingard of Salisbury; father, David Lee Walton (Celine) of Bronx, NY; brothers, Eric Watkins of Yonkers , Brandon Lingard and Tyler Lingard both of Salisbury, Jason Walsh of Pennsylvania; sister, Traci Worsop of Long Island, NY; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Martha Hughes, age 81, of Concord, North Carolina, passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2023. She is a member of the Straightway Holiness Church in Soddy- Daisy, TN. She was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee and lived there until she married and moved to Michigan where she started a family. Later in life, she moved back to South Pittsburg, TN until 2017 when she moved to North Carolina to be near her children and grandchildren. Martha was a devout Christian who enjoyed reading her bible and watching online church sermons. She loved her family and played a substantial role in the upbringing of many of her grandchildren. She was a collector of things and enjoyed browsing thrift stores to find her treasures to add to her collection. She was loved by many and made an impact on many people's lives. She is preceded in death by her husband Homer Hughes; sister, Charlotte; brother, Randall; and parents, Arthur and Della. Martha is survived by her sisters, Phyllis and Barbara; children, Donna Widner and David Hughes; Grandchildren, Jennifer and husband Kevin, Tammy, Johnny, Thomas and Laura and husband Donte; eight great Grandchildren; and one great great Grandchild Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at 1:00 PM at Coulter Garrison Funeral Home with Pastor Troy Simmons officiating. Mr. Barry E. Hough, 81, of Palaside Drive, Concord, passed away on Thursday, November 30, 2023. A memorial service celebrating his life will be conducted at 2:00 PM Friday, December 8, 2023 at Calvary Lutheran Church, 950 Bradley Street NE, Concord. Dr. Deborah Frye, Pastor, will officiate. The family will receive friends prior to the service in the Yount Fellowship Hall from 12:30PM to 1:45 PM and will be at the home at other times. Born January 25, 1942 in Concord, Mr. Hough was the youngest son of the late Ted Smith Hough and Marjorie McEachern Hough. He began his schooling at Winecoff Elementary and graduated from Winecoff High School with the Class of 1960. He attended Wingate Junior College for two years on a Charles Cannon Scholarship and graduated from Appalachian State Teachers College in 1964 with a BS degree. Barry taught school in Monroe for two years and then went to work for American Oil Co. He spent most of his working years in sales and management with the Commercial Roofing Division of the Celotex Corporation. His last years of employment, he enjoyed working with Nelson Hall and Associates Consulting Firm as Director of Marketing. Barry loved his family dearly, new and old. He also enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, playing cards, and dancing. He loved all kinds of music, especially blues and bluegrass. He was a friendly, fun loving person with a great sense of humor. He is survived by wife, Anne Suther Hough, two daughters and one son. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Elvin Lee Hough.
