David Craig Leake Sr. , 82, of Spotsylvania, passed away on Wednesday, October 4, 2023. He was the son of the late Wallace and Esther Leake. David was the longtime owner of Leake's Lawn Service. He attended Bethel Christian Church. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Peggy A. Leake; granddaughter, Macey Leake and husband Nick Scurto; grandson, Evan Leake; and two great-grandchildren, Stella and Abel. He was preceded in death by his son, David Craig Leake, Jr. ; and a brother, Lewis Leake. A Funeral Service will be held at 11am on Saturday, October 7, 2023 at Woodward Funeral Home, 200 Fredericksburg Ave, Louisa, VA 23093. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Bethel Christian Church Cemetery, 5542 Courthouse Rd. , Spotsylvania, VA 22551. Faye J. Lettner, 80, died peacefully at Falls Run Nursing & Rehabilitation Facility on Thursday, November 30, 2023, surrounded by family. Faye lived in Spotsylvania and retired from Fredericksburg CVS Distribution Center. She is survived by four children, Pam Holladay (Gary), Karen Shelton (Patrick), Kelly Gibson (Curtis), and Lee Lettner (Dana); brother, Lewis Hall (Doris); sister, Helen Upperman; sister-in-law, Lillian Hall; and five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Faye was preceded in death by her brother, Raymond Hall; brother-in-law, Don Upperman; and her parents, Willard (Pat) and Rachael Hall. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service for Faye will be held at 11:00 a. m. on Saturday, December 9 at Hebron Baptist Church, 6431 Courthouse Road, Spotsylvania, Virginia 22551. The graveside will be private. Cynthia Robin Hicks of Louisa VA, age 66, passed away peacefully at 8:50pm on November 11, 2023, with her children by her side. Born to Robert and Hazel Hicks of Louisa, Cindy to her friends and Robin to her siblings, led a life of exuberance and spontaneity, and was loved by her family and friends alike. Cindy was a naturally caring person and worked as a home health aid in her spare time, and as a CNA for the University of Virginia until 2013. Cindy loved to cook, and she loved rock and roll. She would instantly light up any room that she was in. Cindy was the mother of two children, Heather and Steven, and was MeMe to her grandchildren, Brianna and Piper, but never "grandma. " She was always the bright light of hope in everyone's life, and she never met a stranger. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her sisters, Lana Carpenter and Vicki (Louis) Schwartz. Memorial services will be not be held at this time, but a celebration of her life is planned for 2024.Show more

Carol Madison, 77, of Spotsylvania, passed away on Monday, November 8, 2023, in Louisa at the Louisa Health & Rehabilitation Center. Surviving family members include her sons, John, Chris, and Travis Madison; and her grandchildren, John Michael, Eric, Noah, Eden, Maddie, Quincy, Brody, and Nico. Other survivors include her sister, Jule Byers; and brothers, Carl "Buck" Wheeler and Donald Traynham. A private burial will be held with only her immediate family members. A celebration of life will be held at 3 p. m. on Friday, December 8, 2023, at Bethel Christian Church, 5542 Courthouse Road, Spotsylvania, VA 22551. Our Heavenly Father thank you for the time Chris, Travis, and myself had with our mother. You blessed us with the best mom a son could have, and she will be missed tremendously. Her smile was contagious and beautiful. Mom, we will talk to you in our prayers every night before we go to bed. I know Dad was over the moon to see you again. Sharon Ross Hamlin, 68, of Bumpass, passed away on Wednesday, November 22, 2023. She retired from the Virginia prison system. She was a skilled wood carver and loved going on cruises. Her cat Missy brought her so much joy. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Barbara Ross. Family left to cherish her memory include her brother, David Ross; nephews, Daniel Ross and Steven Ross; and best friend, Patsy Brumage. Chad is survived by his loving girlfriend, Nevaeh Vasholz, who he loved very much. Chad was born in Charlottesville, VA on Thursday, August 11, 2005. He was a Fluvanna County High School Graduate, Class of 2023. He had a love for working on and building fast cars. Chad was super proud of his projects, loved to race, and go to car meets. He enjoyed riding dirt bikes and four wheelers with his brothers, Rick, Tyler, Jordan and closest "dawgs" Alec Smith and Darius "D" Billings. Chad also spent a lot of time hunting, fishing, and playing video games with his friends and family. He was a very shy person until you got to know him. Chad brought so much joy and laughter to every room he walked into. During summers and after Chad graduated, he worked with his Dad at Computer Cabling and Technology Services. In May of 2023, he began to work with his Step-Dad, "Big Boy", at Digs, Inc. Chad left behind his parents, Ricky and Rachel Sponaugle and Mary and Phillip Powell; his siblings, Rick Sponaugle Jr. , Tyler Sponaugle, Jordan Powell and Leia Sponaugle; his grandparents, Judy Lewis, Jackie and Mark Barrow, Jerrell and Virginia Steadman, Andrea Powell and Mike and Peggy Powell; and an abundance of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Chad was preceded in death by his grandfather, Charles Sponaugle. A memorial service will be held at 11 a. m. on Saturday, December 2 at Fluvanna County High School, 1918 Thomas Jefferson Pkwy, Palmyra, VA 22963. Lynn T. Greene, 71, of Bumpass, Virginia passed away peacefully in her home on November 10, 2023, surrounded by her family, after a brief fight with pancreatic cancer. Lynn is survived by her daughter, Emma L. Madison (Travis). She is also survived by her three grandchildren, Jacob Barlow, Abigayle Barlow and Madelyn Madison; two sisters, Judy Greene (Kermit) and Evelyn Nelson (Frank); and many nieces and nephews. Lynn is preceded in death by her husband, Russell Greene; a daughter, Jennifer Barlow; parents, Lena Knott Turney and Raymond Ashworth; brothers, Charles Turney, Donald Turney Gerald Turney, Wayne Turney; and a sister, Alice Greene. Lynn spent the majority of her career working for Louisa County Department of Social Services as an Eligibility Supervisor. Her most prized title was "Nana" to Jacob, Abby and Maddie. In her spare time, Lynn loved flowers and was head of the altar guild at Church of the Incarnation for many years. An avid seamstress, Lynn could sew anything she put her mind to. Whether it was making wedding dresses, curtains, hemming a pair of pants, or sewing what seemed like hundreds of Girl Scout patches to a sash or vest, she took pride in every stitch. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, December 9th. Visitation will begin at 10:00am followed by Celebration of Life at 11:30am at Church of the Incarnation, 102 Louisa Ave, Mineral, VA 23117. There will be a reception immediately following the service.
