Obituary of David Knepshield David Wilson Knepshield, 74, of Gerry, NY passed away peacefully on February 1, 2019 at Heritage Village in Gerry, NY surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 1, 1944 in Apollo, PA, the son of the late John Oliver and Anna Elizabeth Klingensmith Knepshield. David graduated from Cassadaga Valley Central School in 1963 and was a veteran of the US Army serving in Korea. Prior to his retirement in 2009, he had been employed by Cummins Engine Plant, Lakewood, NY for over 30 years. He was a life-time member of the Gerry Volunteer Fire Department and for many years enjoyed volunteering at the Gerry Rodeo. He took pride in preparing the beef for the rodeo dinners. He was a member of the IOOM Moose and the American Legion. In his younger days, David enjoyed hunting, bowling and golfing with his friends and was loved by all who knew him. He enjoyed comedy and was quick witted and humorous. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his in-laws, with whom he was very close, Dudley and Kate Joynt; brothers: Jack, William, Robert and infant brother, Dean. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, E. Ann (Joynt) Knepshield, three daughters: Julie (Scott) Fisher of Warren, PA, Lori (Brian) Pumford, Jamestown, NY, Carrie (Ryan) Hendrickson, Mint Hill, NC and eleven grandchildren of whom he was very proud: Sydney and Ryan Fisher, Andrew, Emma, Claire, Christian and Ethan Pumford and Cael, Drew, Madden and Price Hendrickson. David is also survived by brothers, Gary (Sharon) of Leroy, NY, Richard of Falconer, NY, James (Pam) of Colorado Springs, CO and Daniel (Darlene) of Bemus Point, NY, one sister, Joyce (Donald) Phillips of Bruceton Mills, WV and several nieces and nephews. The family would like thank the staff at Heritage Village Rehab & Skilled Nursing for their excellent care and support during his stay. They would also like to express their gratitude to the Office of the Aging, Taft and Present Centers, the Veterans Administration and Clinic for all their help and support during his illness. David has gifted his body to the University of Buffalo Anatomical Gift Program. A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, March 3, 2019 at 3:00 pm in the Falconer Funeral Home, Falconer, NY. Rev. Doug Kibbe pastor of Church on The Rock will officiate. Friends will be received by the family from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, March 3, 2019 in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Chautauqua County Office of the Aging, the Alzheimer's Association or the Gerry Volunteer Fire Department.
