David passed peacefully on Thursday, September 7th, surrounded by the love of his family. David was a loving son to David and June, devoted brother to Carolann (Rod) Mike (Cathy) and Sandy (Ron), and dear Uncle to Lindsay (Jesse), Kyle (Krystal), Matt (Noelle) Adam, Hannah, Ronnie, and Jack. He will be fondly remembered as a great Uncle to Hunter, Jake and Colton. David had a successful career as an accountant for many years. He led a quiet life filled by his passion for reading and classic movies, but most importantly his love and devotion for his family. A special and sincere 'thank you' to the palliative care nurses, social workers and all the doctors involved in David's care. The family will be having a private celebration of life for David. In lieu of flowers, donations in David's memory can be made to the Joseph Brant Hospital Foundation.

Peacefully on December 1, 2023, in his 60th year surrounded by his adoring family after a lengthy, courageous battle with Leukemia. Predeceased by his father, Rocco Martini (1988) and his mother Irma Martini (2022). The most loyal, devoted, and caring husband to Lisa Martini. An amazing Pappy to children Natalie Martini, Leah Martini (Sam), and Rocco Martini (Sofia). Adored and loved, the best Pappy to grandchildren Victoria and Eva (Natalie), and Jayrome and Lorenzo (Leah). The best big brother to Rosella Sorce (Pat). Proud uncle to many nieces and nephews. He will be missed by many relatives and extended family in Canada and Italy. Luigi was a great man. His love for his family and friends was immeasurable. Those who knew him know that he was special. Maybe you have tasted his homemade wine, or his sausages, and if he really liked you, he would give you some of his tomatoes from his garden. In the Summer on Sundays, you could find him on the golf course, and when it was football season, you could find him cheering on the Bears. His love for fishing will be carried on through his children and grandchildren. The legacy he leaves behind is comparable to no other. Those lucky enough to have known him remember him as a giving, selfless man. Heaven has gained an honourable man. Shirley was a school teacher before raising a family and then in later years a long-time employee of Fallsview Casino until her retirement. He was the loving husband of Catherine (nee Scrimshire) and loving father of Andrew Niemi (Joy). Predeceased by his father Arvo, mother Irja, brother Reino Niemi and sister Miriam Walton. Survived by brother-in-law David Walton, sister-in-law Lillian Niemi, niece Dawn Walton (Chris) (daughter Kirsi), niece Nancy Niemi, niece Janice Sweitzer (daughter Ashlynn, son Jett) and nephew James Niemi (Tanja) (son Gavin) and by many cousins in Finland and Sweden. Olavi was a member of Trinity United Church, Union Lodge #7, McCallum Chapter #29 RAM, 14 degree Scottish Rite, Historic Chapter #194 OES. His interests included fishing, hunting, gardening and wood carving. Cremation has taken place. It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our mother Audrey Bilan on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 in her 92nd year. Beloved wife of the late Peter Bilan. Loving mother of Richard (Pat) and Philip (Gail). Audrey was born in Darley Abbey, Derby, England in 1932. She grew up in Derby where she married her husband Peter in 1953. They were married for 67 years. In 1966 Audrey and her family immigrated to Canada, where she lived in Burlington, until her passing. Audrey, as the centre of the household spent her years as a caring mother to her two sons, a loyal wife to her husband and a caregiver to her father-in-law and mother. She also found time to volunteer with the Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital Auxiliary for over ten years. Special thanks to the staff at Creek Way Village for the exemplary care provided to Audrey in her final years. A funeral service will be held at SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME, 485 Brant Street, (one block north of City Hall), BURLINGTON (905-632-3333), on Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at 1 p. m. Surrounded by his loving family and close friends, Stephen Brown, 73, peacefully passed away in his home on Wednesday, November 29, 2023. Loving husband to Carmela (nee Morreale), married 51 years. Beloved father to Teresa and Stephen, and was an adored Papa to Madison and Irelyn. He is predeceased by his mother Helen, father Stanford, and sisters Patsy and Wendy. Survived by his sisters Rosanne (Scott), Nancy and brother John. He leaves behind long time friends Bill and Carol, and many nieces and nephews. Steve was retired from Westinghouse after many years of service. He enthusiastically supported his children and grandchildren in sports and different activities, whether by cheering them on from the sidelines or actively coaching. Steve will be remembered for all the heart, patience, kindness, and generosity he shared with his family and friends. Special thanks to all the doctors, nurses and caregivers over the years. Joe is survived by his mother-in-law Simone (the late Edmund) Curno, siblings Connie (Tony) Rosati, Linda (Tom) Condello, Frank (Toni) Palumbo, Tony (Chiara) Palumbo and sister-in-law Tina (Duane) Fougere. James Bonnay

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of James Earl Bonnay in the early morning hours of November 27th. He went peacefully at his home at Upper Canada Lodge. Born on June 26, 1937, he graduated from Delta High School in Hamilton and opened a camera store in Centre Mall (Camera Corral). He then found his profession of choice and dedicated his work career to general insurance. Not only acting as a broker for clients, but he also taught the subject at Mohawk College (from which he was granted an Honorary Diploma) and later in his career as an expert witness to help people who challenged rulings of their insurance company. Survived by his brother Len (Judy), sons Mike (Melissa) and Steve (Kelly) and grandsons Nick (Kat) and Jake (Megan). He will be missed.
