Chesterfield, VA

David Milton Hull, 75, of Chesterfield, VA, passed to his Heavenly home on October 6, 2023. Dave, born September 18, 1948, grew up in the log cabin his grandfather purchased in 1932 and named Upacove, living there his entire life exploring every inch of Gregory Mill Pond, swimming and canoeing with his sisters Laney and Linda, enjoying the beauty his artist parents Helen Hull Bailey and Morgan Milton Hull created. Dave and his wife Jackie married on August 23, 1969, and raised their two sons Jason and Nate in the three-generational cabin. Dave was an adoring husband to Jackie for 54 years as they shared a very special bond they knew the Lord had ordained. A problem solver and life-long learner, an avid reader, lover of dogs, Dave enjoyed fixing anything mechanical, electrical and electronic. His passions were gardening, sailing, and watching his sons and grandchildren grow into amazing people. He loved watching Virginia Wesleyan University women's softball where his granddaughter Hanna played. Dave was a goliath of a man but his nature was gentle as a lamb. His creativity, hugs and keen (but sometimes irreverent) sense of humor delighted his family and friends. Dave retired from Beckman Coulter in 2013 where he was a bioanalytical engineer. He was an Air Force Veteran and served in the Viet Nam war from November 1971 through November 1972, after which he finished his education in electronics engineering. Dave was a member of the Broad Rock Fishing Club serving as its president for 30 years and where he made many life-long friendships. Dave will be greatly missed by his wife Jacqueline York Hull; sons Jason A. Hull (Stefany), Nathaniel D. Hull (Kelley); grandchildren Hanna H. Mazingo (1st Lt. Robert Mazingo, Aviator, US Army Reserves), Jason N. Hull, and Morgan R. Hull; soon-to-be born great grandson Riley G. Mazingo; sisters Elaine H. Mullen, Linda H. Felcone; brothers-in-law Joseph J. Felcone, Jonathan E. York, Joseph S. York; and many loved cousins and friends. A gathering of family and friends will take place 4 p. m. to 7 p. m. on Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at Bliley's Chippenham 6900 Hull St. Road. A private graveside service at Dale Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Richmond Fisher House, 1201 Broad Rock Blvd. , Richmond, VA 23224.
