David Henry Honsinger, Jr. , (1941 - 2023) - Devoted father, loving husband, stalwart brother, good samaritan, and exceptional human being passed away peacefully, with family by his side, at the Van Rensselaer Manor Nursing Home on September 8th. Though Dave lived and battled with Parkinson's Disease for nearly 30 years, his illness is not what defined him. A graduate of the LaSalle Institute class of 1958, he was granted a full scholarship to RPI, which he declined in favor of an apprenticeship at the Watervliet Arsenal. He held a variety of positions over the course of his career at the arsenal, which spanned nearly 4 decades, before retiring and continuing to consult as an American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Certified Senior Level Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD & T) Professional. He served as Vice Chairman of the ASME Committee, led GD & T training seminars across the country, and created the TecEase font. As much as Dave excelled and committed himself to his work and professional career, he dedicated himself to his family and community even more. As a father to 9 there was no short supply of sporting events, after school activities, and extracurriculars but somehow Dave managed to attend and enjoy the majority. He had an affinity for computers and led a series of adult continuing education classes on basic computing skills at Brittonkill Schools. He was a lifetime member of the Pittstown Volunteer Emergency Corps, having served as ambulance driver and EMT for over 20 years. Dave was also a world class whistler, had a terrific singing voice, and loved to dance. He and his late wife, Donna, taught County Western Dance at The Loft in Brunswick for many years. He enjoyed stargazing, watching storms roll in, and playing along with Jeopardy- always "betting it all" in the final round and almost always coming up with the correct answer. Dave was one of the good guys, always willing to help a neighbor or a stranger in need. He was clever and witty, always had a twinkle in his eye and his laughter was contagious. He lived life to the fullest while always doing the right thing. He was loved by all who knew him, and he will be deeply missed. He is survived by his children; David (Susie) Honsinger, III, Karyle (John) Spink, Michael Honsinger, Laura Johnson, step-son James "Jimmy" Hennessy (Jackie Wilcox), Delia Hubbard, Robert "R. J. " Honsinger (Melissa Flaherty), Donna Riley, and Nedra (Walter) Apple. He also leaves behind 11 grandchildren; Andrew, Leah, Lily, Samantha, Emily, Megan, Timothy, Claire, Lauren, Benjamin, and Violet, as well as his siblings; Dennis Honsinger, Mary (George) Henkle and Karen Honsinger-Charbonneau. He is predeceased by his parents; David Henry Honsinger, Sr. , and Mary Catherine McGuire, his wife Donna (Horton) Honsinger, and his brothers Thomas Honsinger and Daniel Honsinger, and his 1st wife, Karyle Doe. Family and friends are invited from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Tuesday September 12th at the Wynantskill Funeral Home 294 Whiteview Road, Wynantskill. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at a time and place to be announced. In lieu of flowers family requests donations in David's memory be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research. The family would also like to express their deepest gratitude to Dr. Era Hanspal of Albany Med Health System, without whom Dave's life would have undoubtedly been less full.

In Loving Memory of Todd Michael Bauer Jr. (TJ) - November 19, 2023 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved TJ, a bright and loving 14-year-old who brought so much joy and laughter into our lives. TJ was taken from us far too soon, leaving behind a void that can never be filled. Born on August 14, 2009, TJ was a cherished son, brother and friend. He was a remarkable individual, known for his unwavering passion for football and his deep love for farming; his dream was to live and work on a farm. When Todd's life ended tragically last week, he took those dreams with him. Leaving behind to mourn and forever miss him is his Grandmother Barbara Primeau of Champlain and Latham, NY whom he lived with most of his life, Father Todd Bauer Sr. of Averill Park, NY, his additional parents Michael and Lisa Maynard of Schaghticoke NY, and siblings Eric M. Bauer (Lindsey), Cassie P. Bauer and Emily E. Bauer. He is also survived by his Aunt Michelle Rathbone (Andrew) and Uncles Michael Bauer (Sharon) and Scott Bauer (Cheri) along with his godfather Jason Bauer (Sam), Great Aunts Elizabeth Murphy, Brenda Premo and Great Uncle Raymond (Barbara), Larry and Diane Wolff, devoted friend and mentor Scott Decker, many cousins and the Maynard's. He was predeceased by aunt Marilyn Bauer and great aunt Bernice Primeau, great uncle Ronald Premo, uncles Eric and Jason Coker and his cousin Jaydn Bauer. Todd was a student at Northeastern Clinton CSD (NCCS) high school. He enjoyed being outdoors whether it was doing yard work, working on the farm, fishing, riding four wheelers or just tromping through the woods. TJ loved to work and would volunteer to help with jobs most kids would shy away from; he even helped his Uncle Rick build a fence for his farm. TJ developed a profound respect for hard work. He was just the most helpful boy; no job was too big for him. TJ had a deep love for his family, and cherished the time they would spend together. He loved to play practical jokes, games like backgammon, family trivial pursuit and card games. TJ loved to go to work with his father and ride in the dump trucks. His passion and love for football was evident and anyone who knew him knew how much he loved the Giants. TJ lived with his grandmother, his smile lit up her life and his loss will be immeasurable to her. TJ was loved and cherished by many and he returned that tenfold. A gathering to honor TJ's life for friends and family will be held on Tuesday November 28, 2023 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm with a service beginning at 1:00 pm the Wynantskill Funeral Home, 294 Whiteview Road, Wynantskill, NY 12198. In lieu of flowers, our family kindly requests donations to be made to The American Farmland Trust https://farmland. org/donate/ or the Wounded Warrior Project https://www. woundedwarriorproject. org/donate, as he deeply cherished his time on the farm and felt moved to donate to the wounded warriors himself. As we say our goodbyes to TJ, let us remember the light he brought into our lives. May his passion and kindness inspire us all to embrace the things we love and to live each day to the fullest. Rest in peace, dear TJ. You will forever be in our hearts. With immense love and sorrow, Todd's loving family. Please visit www. wynantskillfh. com.Show more

Patrick Sturn

Age - 76

November 14, 2023

WYNANTSKILL - Patrick W. Sturn, 76, passed away quietly at home, late Friday evening, November 10 , 2023. He was comfortable according to his wishes and in the presence of his wife and daughter. Born in Albany in 1947, Patrick was the son and the eldest of three children born to the late Ursula M. (Boyle) Sturn and Willard E. Sturn of Farley Drive, Rensselaer, NY. He was the first-born grandson to Anna A. McDonough and Willard F. Sturn of Albany and to Mary (Regan) Boyle and George T. Boyle. He was the beloved & 'lovingly spoiled' nephew of Magdalen U. Boyle and Jean Ann (Sturn) Plume. Patrick was joined in marriage to his sweetheart, Veronica Mary DeGroff of Rensselaer, both at age 22. Patrick was preceded in passing by his younger siblings, Teresa M. Sturn (in 2007), and Vincent E. (Mary) Sturn (2018), as well as his parents, aunts, and uncles. Patrick is survived by his wife, Veronica Sturn and his only daughter, Terra Magdalen (Gary) Haight of Brunswick; sister-in-law, Mary Sturn of Castleton; and cousins Richard Boyle, Marcia (Val) Riordan, and Pamela VanOverwalle. An honors graduate of Van Rensselaer High School (VR, class of 1965), he then earned a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature at the SUNY- Albany campus and pursued further graduate studies at Siena College. He was employed with the NYS Dept. of Health, Office of Medicaid Services, retiring in 2010, and was recognized for his contributions to oversight and technological advancement of the health data management systems. Pat was an extremely gifted artist of photography. His personal experiences, family, local and political histories, and interpretations of life are vividly captured and documented through thousands upon thousands of his photographs and photographic artwork. He had an amazingly keen eye for the candid shot -- both intimate portraits and public moments. He completed a photo documentary assignment for NYS Office of General Services spanning ten years of the construction of the Empire State Plaza buildings. He captured many candid images of Nelson Rockefeller and Mayor Corning -- one of 'Rocky' purportedly by climbing directly through the Governor's office window (can't do that now), Empire State celebrations and events, aerial views of the skeletal Corning tower and the Egg in progress, as well as sketching life in Albany, the City of Rensselaer, and the Hudson River at Albany and Troy. He favored black and white photography as a medium for much of his work through the early '70s. Pat was decidedly a loner and characteristically kept feelings close to himself. He was a sensitive soul who loved his family though it could not be said and was rarely demonstrated. In particular, he deeply loved his brother Vinny and sister Terri and mourned them privately within his own emotional and spiritual spaces. Pat loved music, literature, films, nature, and spicy foods. He explored the Adirondack mountains and lakes throughout his lifetime - camping, backpacking, hiking, kayaking, and photographing. He completed the entire Northville-Placid Trail, as a solo expedition in the 1990s. He found his musical self within the images of Bob Dylan, John Lennon, George Harrison, Arlo Guthrie, and Jerry Garcia. Elvis has left the building! Love you Dad. Visitation hours will be Friday, November 17 , from 5- 7 p. m. , at W. J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Avenue, Rensselaer, NY. All are welcome. A brief memorial will be offered at 7 p. m.
