"David Michael Hicks, age 75, of Elizabethton passed away on Sunday, September 10, 2023 at Ivy Hall Nursing Home. He was the son of the late Harry and Edith Whitson Hicks and was born on January 19, 1948. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita DeLoach Hicks; and a daughter, Brandy Ann Hicks. David retired from Kennametal as a machinist. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Johnson City and was a United States Navy Veteran. Those left to cherish his memories include his daughter, Angela Whitson; a grandson, Christoper Cunningham; a granddaughter, Zoe Attkisson; a great-grandson, Jasper Cunningham and a great-granddaughter, Henleigh-Mae Simmons. A graveside service to honor the life of David Michael Hicks will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Pastor Hobbie McCreary officiating. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Everyone will meet at Tetrick Funeral Home at 10:00 AM on Wednesday to go in procession to the cemetery. "Frances Soffiotto was carried by angels to be with our Lord on December 2, 2023. On that day Frances joined her beloved husband, Carl Hamm. Her father and mother, Ernest and Myrtle Davis. Frances also embraced her four brothers, Sunny Davis, Jean Davis, Paul Davis, and Jimmy Davis. And three dear sisters, Lee Stewart, Jane Barnett and Opal Nelson. Frances had a love for the Lord that could be seen in the light shining from her eyes and bright smile. Her joy for life was contagious and her love was limitless. Left here to cherish her memory are her husband, Angelo Soffiotto. Her children, Mike and Sheila Hamm, Sondra and Keith Prichard, Karen and Rick Nelson, Michael and Pam Dill, Anne Smith, Burt and Andrea Soffiotto, Betty Soffiotto, and Tino and Lisa Soffiotto. Ten grandchildren, Jessie Hoyle, Chassidy Clark, AJ Smith, Nick Nelson, Joshua Nelson, Brandi, Fowler, Courtney Coppage, Maddie, Dill, Hannah Burleson, Jennifer Sheppard, and 11 great grandchildren. She will be mourned by many more relatives, countless friends and church family. "Kenneth Wayne Ramey, 78, gained his wings on November 29, 2023. Originally from Erwin, Tennessee, he had lived in Johnson City, Tennessee for forty-two years. He was the son of the late Kenny and Edith Ramey. He was a retired electrician and had worked for several contractors within Eastman Chemical Company for 35 plus years. He was an avid lake enthusiast that enjoyed his time at both Lakeshore Marina on Watauga Lake in his early years and Jay's boat dock on Boone Lake during his later years. He was of the Methodist faith. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his three children, Denise Ramey, Jill Newman and Michael and wife Monica Ramey, all of Erwin; grandchildren, Natosha Lee of Bristol, TN and Dustin Bennett of Elizabethton, TN; great grandchildren, Braydon Bishop of Bristol, TN, Khloe Bennett and Jackson Bennett, Elizabethton, TN and three special nieces. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Debbie Ramey; brother, and wife Tom and Gracie Ramey; grandson, Nick Crowder; several aunts, uncles, and cousins. "Mr. Mike Allen, 58, passed away Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at Johnson City Medical Center. Mike was a lifetime resident of Johnson City and the Second Son of Ted and Dot Allen. Mike attended Science Hill High School and enjoyed his time there when he showed up. Mike worked for multiple years for Perkins on Roan Street and Bennigan\u0027s and behind the blue poor (taps). Then Mike moved on to what would be his lifetime career. He was proud to be an old school truck driver, when they needed it to be there, he took pride and got there on time. Mike enjoyed his NASCAR, whether at the track or following through media outlets and the same could be said about his love for the Vols, he was also a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1831, Johnson City, TN In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by the one love of his life, his wife Donna K. Allen. She truly calmed him and helped focus his dreams. Survivors include two brothers Randy Allen and his wife Vickie and Johnny Allen and his wife Sheri and many nephews and cousins. The family of Mike will have a small graveside service at Washington County Memory Gardens on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at 10:00am with Pastor Jody Jenkins officiating. "Virginia Morton Jenkins, age 91, of Johnson City, Tennessee went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at the Johnson City Medical Center. Virginia was born in Johnson City to the late Alonzo Milton Osborne and Goldie Mae Hodges Osborne. In addition to her parents, Virginia was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Wesley Jenkins in 1996; two brothers; and two sisters. Virginia was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and took great joy and pride in being a housewife and homemaker. She was of the Church of God faith and loved to church, shopping, gardening and spending time with her loved ones. Those left to remember and cherish Virginia's memory include her two beloved daughters, Sandra Garland (Ralph Mitchell) and Joyce Chesser (Montie); two grandsons, Michael and Dennis Chesser (Catie); two great granddaughters, Brennan Robinson and Laney Chesser; two brothers, Carrick "Tick" Osborne (Gladys) and Donald Dale Osborne (Sue); one sister, Shirley Street; and two special friends, Mary Hembree and David Rauhuff. By Several nieces and nephews also survive. A graveside service to celebrate Virginia's life will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Thursday, November 30, 2023 in the Mountain Home National Cemetery. "Randall Sherman Matney (Randy), age 72, of Johnson City, TN, passed away peacefully at home following a brief illness on November 7, 2023. Randy was the son of the late Sherman and Peggy Charles Matney of Grundy, Virginia. He was a graduate of Grundy Senior High School, Milligan University and Johnson University. Randy also attended ETSU, Atlanta Christian College and Emmanuel Christian Seminary. In his first career as a Certified Public Accountant, he was employed by Dent K. Burk Associates in Bristol TN, Lewis Robinson and Associates, Floyd and Stacy CPAs, and Goldstein and Sons, all of Griffin, GA. His accounting specialty was tax and auditing. He began his second career with a desire to have his talents used for his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Not knowing how his gifts might be used, Randy spent 2 years in Biblical and preaching study at Johnson Bible College, now Johnson University, in Kimberlin Heights, TN. Upon graduation in 1984 he was called to Emmanuel Christian Seminary in Johnson City to use his accounting, finance and technology skills. Randy served at Emmanuel for 20 years. , retiring as Vice President of Finance and Data Processing. He continued to use his business skills for other Christian organizations including Atlanta Christian College, Roanoke Bible College and Park Springs Christian Camp and Retreat Center. Randy has held ministries at Keenerville Christian Church (NC) and Fall Branch Christian Church (TN). He served on the board of several churches and organizations including Appalachian Christian Camp, East Tennessee Christian Men's Fellowship, Martindale Recreation, and others. His mission was always the responsible stewardship of the financial resources available for the Lord's work in every situation. Randy enjoyed fishing and golf. He loved his regular spring and fall fishing trips to Georgia and South Carolina with his special fishing buddy Roy Smith of Abbeville, SC. They fished and camped twice a year for well over 35 years. Their meeting was by chance in a South Carolina campground where Roy had a camper and Randy had a boat and a crockpot. They spent many days fishing and evenings around a campfire talking about God, listening to gospel music and occasionally singing along. In addition to his parents, Randy was preceded in death by his brother, David Matney of Grundy, VA. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Laura Caley Matney; two daughters, Sara Reed and husband Brad, Johnson City, Alison Stamper and husband Joshua, Carlton MN; four grandchildren, Bowen Reed, Ansley Reed, Jasper Stamper, and Griffin Stamper; one brother, Doug Matney and wife Connie, Louisa, VA; one sister in law, Debi Matney, Bristol TN; several nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Randy's Life will be held Saturday, November 18, 2023, at 3:00 P. M. , in Boones Creek Christian Church. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service from 1:00 - 3:00 P. M. There will be a private committal service and inurnment at The Garden Chapel of the Risen Lord on the Emmanuel Christian Seminary campus at Milligan College. The family wishes to thank the doctors and staff of The Spine Center (6400) at the Johnson City Medical Center, Amedisys Hospice, our Boones Creek Christian Church family, and especially our private at home care givers for their compassionate care of Randy and the entire family during this difficult time.
