Sanford- Ruth E. Lake, 74, of Twombly Rd, Died Friday Nov. 17th, 2023 in Sanford. She was born in Dover-Foxcroft, Maine on Dec. 1st, 1948. The daughter of Mary and Charles White. She attended Dover-Foxcroft Academy as well as the University of Maine school system. Ruth loved quilting, writing poetry and was a published Laureate of Poetry in three anthologies. She was an artist, painting landscapes and giving them generously to her friends and family. When she was not making quilts for babies who were entering this world, Ruth loved making quilted bags and an avid seamstress. She was a member of both the Amvets and American Legion of Sanford. She loved cooking for their Thanksgiving meals, holidays and spending time with her many friends and veterans. She loved reading and belonged to a small book club. The ladies would purchase books and circulate them amongst each other. Ruth loved mysteries. Her favorite time of year was Christmas. Throughout the many years she loved spending the holidays with her children, grandchildren, and friends. Surviving are her three daughters, Melissa J Albert and her husband Michael A. Albert of Bath, Maine with her two grand-daughters Jacqueline Lyn Herndon her husband Brian Herndon, Valerie Amber Albert and John Stuart with her great grandsons Bennett Goody and Brady Stuart. Her daughter Claudette Georgia Humphrey and husband Derwood Humphrey with grandson Tyler Wintle and grand-daughter Lauren Humphrey of Benedicta, Maine . Her daughter Holly Beth Devine with her granddaughter Aasta Devine and great grand daughter Camdyn of Hollowell, Maine. In addition to her husband Corlie who died June 29th, 1995, she was also predeceased by her Mother and father, Brothers, Charles White, Stephen White and Joel White. Ruth did not want a burial or funeral services, she wanted her family and friends to remember her as the loving, creative and giving person that she was. Kim Novak Kimball, 66, of North Berwick, Maine passed unexpectedly on November 6th. Kim was Born in Beverly, Massachusetts on July 24th predeceased by parents Bette and William "Bill" Novak and siblings Judy Bright and David Eckmann, and survived by siblings Gary Eckmann, and Gail St. Charles. Kim graduated from Beverly High School, who then attended Montserrat College of Art. She met Glenn Kimball in 1981 in Maine and was married in 1986. She worked at Pratt & Whitney for several years before making the decision to stay home and raise her three children. Family was central to her and she fiercely supported those around her. After her children entered school age, she worked several administrative positions before returning to Pratt & Whitney where her career started; Kim proudly retired after 30 years in 2022. Kim was best known for her love for art, music, literature, and the Boston Celtics. She enjoyed family trips all over the US, countless trips to various beaches, local holiday festivals, loved experimenting with food and other culinary adventures with her husband, mother-daughter trips (New Orleans, Charleston, NYC, to name a few), sporting events with her son, phone calls/ video chats with her grandchildren, & showering them with gifts to cultivate their creativity. Education was deeply rooted in her family values, she was very proud of her daughters pursuit of Masters degrees and her son's Associates degrees. She always instilled in her children and grandchildren that everyone has the ability to be an artist, and that the greater our integrity and awareness, the more original and creative our time will be. Tragically, her life came to a sudden and unexpected end in a rare cardiac event. She passed peacefully at Wentworth Douglas Hospital surrounded by her whole family. She is survived by her husband of 37 years Glenn Kimball (North Berwick, Maine), her daughter Chelsea Kimball (and Will Thompson who are expecting Ava Thompson-Kimball in Dec 2023 and children William & Isaiah Thompson) in New Hampshire, her daughter Hailey Battle-Jones (son in law Jay Battle-Jones, and grandkids Ezekiel & Luna Battle-Jones) in Colorado, and her son Shea Kimball (soon to be daughter in law Kate Gardella) in New Hampshire. Patricia C Hansen, 76, passed away on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at Wentworth Douglas hospital after a brief and courageous battle with leukemia. Her husband Richard and her daughter Kimberly were by her side. She was born on July 5, 1947 in Jersey City, NJ. Patricia worked at the University of New Hampshire and lived in Durham, NH for 25 years before her and her husband moved to Sanford, ME in 2013. She enjoyed going to the local YMCA spending time with her husband, their two dogs, Lucy and Phillip and family and friends. Patricia will be deeply missed by her family, friends and neighbors. Patricia is survived by her husband, Richard Hansen of Sanford, ME and her children Christopher Hansen and Kimberly Gordon both in NH; her sister: Ann Lane and her husband James Lane in New Jersey; sister in law: Arlene Hansen in New Jersey; brother in law: Gene Hansen and his wife Helen Hansen in Ohio; cousins in New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Florida and many friends. Kenneth C. Mayberry, 87, longtime resident of Berwick, and current resident of Pinnacle Health Care in North Berwick, went to be with the Lord on October 28, 2023. He and his twin brother, Milton were born March 8, 1936 in Lewiston, ME, the sons of Kenneth and Theo (Purington) Mayberry. For many years he worked at local shoe shops and retired from a leather finishing shop in Portsmouth, NH. Lovingly known as "Chucka" or "Uncle Chucka", he loved fishing and hunting but especially just watching the deer. He enjoyed long walks in the woods and visiting the dairy farm at UNH every weekend with his nieces and trips to the horse farm. The cows were his favorite and seemed to remember him every time he visited. Chucka had a green thumb and took great pride in his tomato gardens and raising over 300 chickens at one point. He shared his bounty with family and friends. Chucka was so helpful on the family farm with all the chores with the animals, gardening, shoveling and whatever needed to be done. Surviving is his twin brother, Milton Mayberry and his wife Charlotte of Berwick; 7 nieces and nephews who were like his own children, Randall Mayberry of Sun City, AZ; Crystal Dixon and husband Richard of Lebanon, Bonnie Mayberry and Kimberly Mayberry of Berwick, Candace Mayberry of Cornish, Eric Mayberry of South Berwick, Scott Mayberry and wife Tina of Woodville, NH as well as many great nieces and nephews. Colleen Arvilla Wolfinbarger, age 72, of North Berwick, passed away peacefully, October 9, 2023 in Wentworth-Douglas Hospital after a courageous 7 1/2 year battle with cancer with her family by her side She was a true warrior who fought until the very end She was born April 25, 1951 in Lawrence, MA, the daughter of Frank Manning and Arvilla Prescott, graduating from North Berwick High School in 1969 Colleen served in the United States Air Force from 1969 to 1974 In 1975, she had her only child, Michelle whom she adored Joining the work force in 1987, she worked for Dave Tuttle at Riverside Farms then earned her CNA license so she could care for the elderly at the Varney Nursing Home in North Berwick In 1997, she needed a change of pace so went to work for Walmart in Somersworth, NH where she was loved by so many and fondly referred to as "Grams" She cared for her grandchildren Autumn and Tyler until her daughter relocated up Maine, then would vacation several times a year in Fort Fairfield; Halloween being her favorite to spend time with the grandkids trick-or-treating Colleen took the grandkids home with her for a few weeks every year as well They would return home with a whole new wardrobe and all the school supplies they needed She adored them all and loved to spoil them Colleen attended Eliot Baptist Church She was baptized after accepting Jesus Christ as her Savior Colleen was predeceased by her parents, her soulmate of 44 years, Ken Newhall, brother Gary Manning and sister Sharon Emery She will be sorely missed by her daughter Michelle Manning and fiance Randy Parady of Fort Fairfield, ME; 2 granddaughters, Autumn Parady of Presque Isle and Makenna Parady of Fort Fairfield, 2 grandsons, Scott Parady of Fort Fairfield, and Tyler Thibedau who moved in with Colleen to help care for her over the past 4 years; and great-grandson, Roman Voisine and expecting her first great-granddaughter, Raelynn Leigh Voisine in February She also leaves behind her 2 sisters, Cindy Wyman and husband Bill of North Berwick, Harlan and Kathy Clock of Sanford A special thanks to Pastor Joel, she loved you so much; to her weekly Bible study group, Tyler, Cindy, Sylvia, Ruth and Donna and the doctors and nurses at Wentworth Douglas and her numerous friends and family for helping her in this battle A time of visitation will be held Friday, October 13 from 10am to 12pm immediately followed by a funeral service at 12pm at the Johnson Funeral Home, 26 Market Street, North Berwick, ME Interment to follow in Hillside Cemetery with Military Honors Arrangements are entrusted to the Johnson Funeral Home where condolences may be expressed at www JohnsonFuneralHomeME comShow more
