David C. "Fergie" Ferguson, 59, died September 7, 2023 at home with his beloved wife by his side. David was diagnosed with stage 4 liver cancer in February and put up a fight to the very end. Born in St. Petersburg, Florida, he was the son of Barbara (Cappy) Ferguson and the late Calvin Ferguson. He was the loving husband of Lisa (Christina) Ferguson with whom he shared 2 years of marriage before his passing. David had a passion for fishing and hunting. He loved animals, especially his chocolate lab, Jinx. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and being outdoors. David will be remembered for his big smile and loud laugh. David is survived by his wife, Lisa; his two daughters, Rachael Ferguson of St. Petersburg, Florida and Brittney Ferguson of Wilmington; mother, Barbara (Cappy) Ferguson; twin brother, Daniel Ferguson of Louisville, Kentucky; sister, Barbara Hazzard of Lorain, Ohio and his granddaughter, Kaylee Costa. David's graveside funeral service will be at St. Mary Cemetery in Beverly, on Friday, September 15, at 11:00am. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Ronald H. Simmons, 82 passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, December 3, 2023 after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease. Born in Beverly, where he lived his entire life, he was the son of the late Harry Simmons and the late Muriel Maclean Simmons. He was the beloved husband of Nancy Robishaw Simmons. He was a lifetime member of The Masons and proud Veteran of the US Army. He was the owner of Simmons Heat Treating on Park Street in Beverly until his retirement in 2003. In his younger years he raced boats and was an avid skier from teenager up into his seventies. Skiing with his friends, kids and grandchildren was his passion and he rarely missed a weekend on the slopes. In his spare time you could find him reading, riding mountain bikes or walking in the woods with the dogs. Ronald is survived by his wife, Nancy Simmons, his daughter Dina Petrosino & husband Jim Petrosino of Beverly, daughter Elanna Kooistra & husband Eric of Florida, stepson Barry Piecewicz & wife Becky of Merrimac, MA, stepson Kevin Piecewicz & wife Lisa of Maryland, stepdaughter Kristen Piecewicz & significant other John Thistlewood of Byfield, MA, nephew David Shipp & wife Kathy of Beverly, Nephew Daniel Shipp & wife Dee of Beverly, niece Diane Cormier & husband David of Georgia, brother in law Donald Shipp & wife Elizabeth of Florida. Ronald was also beloved Grampie to Colton Petrosino, Tyler Petrosino, Logan Petrosino, Lexa Kooistra, Shanna Kooistra, Keenan Guilmette & Kyerstien Stanford, Courtney & Kyle Traver, Cameron Piecewicz, Charles Piecewicz, Luke Piecewicz, Olivia Piecewicz, Ryan Piecewicz and he had many great nieces and nephews. Charlie Mullen was called away to the heavenly baseball hall of fame on December 1st after a lengthy decline caused by Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis, a disease that claimed the lives of two of his brothers. He died at home on his own terms in his chair, as he wanted. Charlie was born on August 9,1954, and grew up in the wilds of West Gloucester. He spent his summers as a child playing baseball and swimming in Little River with his brothers and the West Gloucester Crew from sunup till sundown and pitched a perfect game for his Babe Ruth Team. Charlie loved muscle cars. He parted with his Green 73 Dodge Charger just a few weeks before he left us. Charlie was grateful and proud of his thirty-five years of sobriety, which led to many friendships. Charlie began working as a longshoreman (lumper) alongside his father and his brothers around the age of 16 and up until his disease retired him at the end of 2020. He also owned a small landscaping business with his daughter Sara. He enjoyed walking the boulevard with his beloved dogs, swimming on Pavilion Beach, and working in his garden, Charlie and his partner Andrea enjoyed long rides around the back shore and visits to Todd's Farm on Sunday Mornings. Charlie was pre-deceased by his parents Henry and Miriam (Mattson) Mullen, his brothers Matt, Pat, John, and his sister Ann. He is survived by his long-term partner, Andrea Ramos and her sons Ron and Peter Ramos of Manchester-by- the-Sea, his daughter Sara Mullen, her partner Michael McLaughlin and their boys, Logan, Hunter, and Winter, his granddaughter Ariana (Mullen) Scola, his brother Peter all of Gloucester. His family extends their gratitude to the many friends and relatives who visited or lent a helping hand and especially to Eddie Parnell whose daily caregiving allowed Charlie to stay in his home till the very end. Of South Hamilton, MA, suffered a stroke and died peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on November 25, 2023, at age 70. Beloved husband to Mickey (Mckee) Hargrave; loving father to Kate Hargrave and Caroline Armington (husband, Nick); cherished grandfather of Kaylee, Mackie, Juliette, Henry and Teddy; and brother to Ann Loos (husband, Karl) and Dave Hargrave (wife, Nancy, deceased). Trip was born August 6, 1953 in Rochester, NY to Bobbie and Mark Hargrave, Jr. He attended Brighton High School and in his youth was a committed Eagle Scout. He earned a BA from St. Lawrence University and went on to receive his MBA from the University of Rochester. In 1979, Trip and Mickey relocated to Boston, where they began a family and Trip embarked on a lifelong career in banking. In 2013 Trip founded Links Capital Partners to provide financing for real estate developers, working with numerous companies along the East Coast from Maine to Florida. Dedicated to his community and faith, Trip was a devoted parishioner and vestry member at Christ Church in Hamilton & Wenham, MA and later at Emmanuel Church in Manchester-by-the-Sea, MA. He was a longstanding board member of the Boston Rescue Mission, for which he ran six Boston Marathons. A philanthropist through and through, Trip contributed to a wide range of causes including sponsoring an annual golf tournament supporting the Northeast ARC of Danvers. Trip's passion for golf was well known. A longtime member of Myopia Hunt Club, he was a two time club champion. His many interests included skiing, backgammon and travel with family and friends. He was a talented photographer and documentarian. Trip was famous for his competitive nature, love of games, positivity and gentle spirit. Family and friends were Trip's top priority in life. He was modest, gracious, and generous to all. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at St. John's Episcopal Church, 705 Hale St. , Beverly Farms, MA 01915, on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at 11am, with reception to follow in the parish hall. H. Elaine (Campbell) Hardy, passed away November 22. She was the loving wife of the late Wilbur Hardy with whom she shared 72 years of marriage before his passing. Born in Beverly, she was the daughter of the late Malcolm and Manilla (York) Campbell. Elaine lived most of her life in Wenham with her beloved brothers, sisters, and extended family. She graduated in 1941 from Brisco High School in Beverly and worked at the GE plant until she married Wilbur Hardy and settled into their home in Wenham. Elaine was devoted to family and friends and created a warm and loving environment around her. There wasn't a Jello recipe she didn't try or a casserole that couldn't be delivered to someone. She was an active in a number of charitable and church activities, and a long-time member of the Christian Woman's Club. Elaine is survived by her daughter Catherine (Hardy) Tinsley and husband Douglas of Wenham; her grandchildren, Chief Boatswains Mate Robert Munroe, Katie Munroe, Sgt First Class Shawn Tinsley, Craig Tinsley; great grandchildren, Joshua, Bryanna, Owen, Aubrey, Gianna, and much loved nieces and nephews and their families. She was predeceased by her husband Wilbur and their son Richard; brothers, Ellison Campbell, Vernon Campbell and Carl Campbell (WWII) and sisters, Marjorie Godfrey, Merle Sillars, and Lillian Salvo. A Celebration of Life will be held at the North Shore Baptist Church, 9 Hart St. , Beverly Farms. Date to be announced. Roger Coburn, a long-time resident of Beverly passed away at the Concord Hospice House after a period of declining health. Roger was born in Milo, ME to Alice and Matthew Coburn and raised in Brownville Junction. He is the youngest of seven siblings, survived by his brother Whit and wife Linda of Brownville Junction. Roger is pre-deceased by his longtime companion Mary LaCraw. After graduating from Brownville Junction High School in 1951, Roger joined the Maine Army Reserve and then served as a cook in the U. S. Army before his honorable discharge. Roger graduated from Coyne Electrical and Technical College in Boston, which led to a 35-year career at Otis Elevator where he enjoyed servicing commercial elevators across the North Shore. Roger was a longtime member of several social and fraternal clubs - including the Union Club in Beverly, the Shriners, and Masons. When he wasn't busy winning trophies in his local billiards league, he enjoyed cooking up big batches of chowders, stews, and deviled eggs to serve at different Club events. At home, one of Roger's many hobbies were hooking rugs - wildlife and naturescapes were his favorite designs. Roger will be remembered by many as the guy who was always willing to lend a helping hand with any job that needed to be done. Electrical, painting, siding, roofing, woodworking, boats, it didn't matter. If he couldn't fix it, it was time to get rid of it. Roger has left us but rest assured, he is raising cain at his next destination already. Roger is survived by his four children: Mary-Anne and her husband Fred Sisolak of Georgetown, sons Blair of Belmont, NH, Craig and his wife Kathy of South Berwick ME, and James and his partner Charles of Rosendale, WI. He also leaves behind grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. His funeral service will be at Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly, on Tuesday, November 28, at 6pm. Christopher M. Thompson, 68, passed away peacefully November 10, 2023. He was born in Gloucester, MA to the late Archie Thompson and Theresa V. T. Hadley. Chris lived in Gloucester most of his life. He graduated from Gloucester High School and attended North Shore Community College and earned the title Certified Welder. He began his career at Industrial Cab, then worked at Varian. He opened his own business, Thompson Welding and managed Miles River Sand and Gravel in Ipswich, MA for over 30 years where he retired from. Chris was very well known in his industry where he worked very hard, and mentored many people along the way. He had a passion for welding, excavating, big trucks, fast cars (mainly corvettes), and motorcycles. Chris was known for his great sense of humor and could put a smile on anyone's face. He was extremely proud of his four daughters, and grandchildren. He is survived by his companion, Susan O'Neil of Nashua, NH; four daughters, Caroline Thompson of Gloucester, Christina Godfrey and husband Michael of Gloucester, Carrieann Vecchione of FL, Nicole Carter and husband Andrew of Narragansett, RI; ten grandchildren, Nicholas Lucido, Kyla Forsyth, Andrew Forsyth, Jackson Godfrey, Caree Godfrey, Alliyah Vecchione, Ayden Vecchione, Tayla Vecchione, Cruz Carter, Bianca Carter; one great grandchild, Ash Vecchione; two sons-in-law, Morgan Forsyth, and Jesse Vecchione; two former spouses, Carol Anne Quadros, and Kathryn (Arnold) Thompson. Robert N. Felix, 80, died Monday November 13th, 2023 at home surrounded by his family after a long illness. Robert graduated from Beverly High School class of 1961. Robert went onto further his education at North Shore Community College and graduated with an Associate Degree in Science. Robert started his employment at the United Shoe Corporation where he was employed for 22 years and ended his employment in Aerospace at Jet Engine Technologies where he was a Quality Control Manager and was happily retired ever since. For 36 years Robert was the loving husband of Virginia Eaton Felix. Robert enjoyed his camp in Maine, bowling, playing pool, and remodeling his home. Robert was an active member of the Franco-American Club in Beverly, MA since the age of 21. In addition to his wife Virginia, he is survived by two daughters Suzanne Felix and her longtime partner Carl Randall of Newburyport, MA, and Cheryl Engdahl and her husband Carl Engdahl of South Hamilton, MA. Robert is pre-deceased by his parents Lucille LaRochelle Felix and Ernest G. Felix of Beverly, MA, sister and her husband Rochelle and Ronald Gagne of St. Augustine, FL, and son Robert N. Felix Jr. of Newburyport, MA. Robert is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
