"David A. Endres, 72, of Traverse City passed away peacefully at his home on September 10, 2023 after battling stage 4 cancer. Dave was born on March 1, 1951 in Traverse City to the late Frank \u0026quot;Junior\u0026quot; and Geraldine R. (Yorks) Endres. David served our country honorably stateside in the United States Army from 1971-1973. Following his time in the service, he moved to Alaska for 5 years where he worked in a body shop. He later returned to Traverse City where he met his soul mate, Christine Kay Draper. The two were married on June 30, 1984. He worked for nearly a decade at Classic Autobody fixing up vintage cars and then went to work for Cone Drive where he served in the manufacturing department and also as a supervisor. After retiring in 2014, he enjoyed spending time in his hobby shop. Dave is survived by his wife of 39 years, Christine; their sons David and Matthew; his siblings Mary (Duane) Lautner, Mike (Donna) Endres and Christine Collins. The memorial service will be held on Monday, September 18, 2023 at 3 pm with visitation beginning at 2:30 at the Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be directed to Special Olympics. "

"Ethel Carolyn (Roehm) Johnson of Traverse City, Michigan passed away on December 3, 2023 at age 85. She was born June 7, 1938 in Detroit to parents Arthur and Loella (Broderick) Roehm and was one of four siblings. Ethel graduated from Birmingham High School in 1956. Following high school, Ethel married Bob Larson and raised three loving daughters, Pam, Patty and Lynda whom she adored throughout her life. After twenty-six years, her first marriage ended in a divorce after which she began a career as a realtor. The following year, she re-met an old high school friend at a class reunion, Howard Johnson, who had been two years ahead of her in high school. They would marry at the Bloomfield Village Women's Club on September 6, 1985. An excellent athlete, Ethel was an outstanding bowler in her youth and went on to be a very good golfer - carding three holes-in-one over her lifetime. Ethel continued her Real Estate career until she and Howard both retired in 2006 and moved to Bluffton, SC where they lived until moving to Traverse City in 2018 to be closer to family. She is survived by her husband, Howard and his children, Jeff, Jody and Mark Johnson; daughter Pamela Ann Roddy (John) and their two children, Brian Roddy (fiancee, Isabelle) and Colleen Holmes (Jeff); daughter Patricia Jean (Douglas) Grambeau and their three children, Mallori Schadegg (Dylan), Alexis and Kelsey Grambeau ; daughter Lynda Elizabeth Purcell (Craig) and their three children, Mike (Molly) Purcell, Megan (Marc) Garza and Eric (Kendal) Purcell and five great grandchildren. Ethel was predeceased by both parents Loella and Arthur Roehm, and siblings Georgia Williams, David Roehm and Patricia Roehm. "Barbara Ann Coesens, 89, of Traverse City, Michigan passed away December 5, 2023. Barb was born on March 3, 1934 in Maumee, Ohio to the late Louis and Kathryn (Rohr) Hansen. She met and married the love of her life Norman L. Coesens who predeceased her in 1989 after a brave battle with cancer. They were united in marriage on December 12, 1953 in Detroit, MI at the Christ Lutheran Church. Together, they lovingly raised three wonderful children. Barb dedicated her life to being an adoring mother and devoted wife, finding joy in her family above all else. Originally from Detroit, the family later moved to Traverse City. Barb was an active member of the Grand Traverse Hockey Association, showcasing her passion for community involvement. In her spare time, she enjoyed ceramics, sewing, reading, puzzles, camping, and yardwork. Barb worked many years undertaking various roles within the Traverse City school system, notably in the kitchen and on the playgrounds. Also as a secretary at Detroit Edison prior to that. Her love for sweets, especially cookies, was well-known, reflecting her indulgence in life\u0027s simple pleasures. Barb cherished moments on pontoon boats and finding happiness in the company of her family. She leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth that will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her. She is survived by her children, Kim Simon of Traverse City, Michigan, Kelly (James) Goff of Farmington Hills, Michigan, Kurt (Melanie) Coesens of Highland, Michigan; grandchildren, Kate (David) Evans, Michael Haven, Michelle (Marc) Pouliot, Brian (Kristin) Goff, Brenden Coesens, Riley Coesens; great grandchildren, Alex, Carter, Logan, Lilah, Emma, sister-in-law Maureen Hansen, nephew Scott (Becke) Hansen, niece Lynn Hansen and many other loving family members and friends. Barb is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Norman and her brother Gerald "Jerry" Hansen and Nephew-In-Law Steve. Funeral services will be held for her on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at 11am with a visitation held one hour prior. "Norman Paul Krogel, age 65 of Traverse City, Michigan passed away on Monday, December 4, 2023 at his home. Norm was born on May 23, 1958 in Traverse City to Kenneth and Grace Krogel. He married the love of his life and high school sweetheart, Emily Benak on July 28, 1979. Norm, the oldest of four, graduated from Elk Rapids High School in 1977. Norm had been employed with United Technologies for 22 years. He also was a truck driver for Double Check and most recently he enjoyed driving a courtesy van for Turtle Creek Casino and Resort. Norm was a dreamer, he always enjoyed working on cars or starting a new project. In his spare time, he loved being outdoors hunting and fishing. Above all, spending time with his family was his greatest joy. Norm is survived by his loving wife, of 44 years, Emily, his two sons and a daughter; Chris Krogel, Ryan (Lauren) Krogel and Lindsey Krogel and three grandchildren, Arabella, Paisley and one on the way. Also surviving are his mother, Grace Krogel, two brothers and a sister; Jim Krogel, Debbie Showalter and Ken Krogel, also special friends, Don Benak and Jim Wilson as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Krogel. "Sonia Jean Olson, born August 7th, 1936 passed away on November 30, 2023 at 87 years old in Traverse City, Michigan. Sonia was born in Flint, Michigan to Thomas "Bud" G. H. Cocking and Elizabeth "Betty" Zitterkoph Cocking. She grew up on a farm and spoke German, teaching her grandparents English. Her educational drive brought her to Michigan State College (University), where she received her bachelor's degree in teaching and was a member of the Alpha Xi Delta sorority. It was in college where she met her husband Wallace "Wally" Olson. Sonia and Wally were married on June 25th, 1960. Sonia taught school in both Flint and near their first home in Livonia before moving to Traverse City in 1968. Later Sonia became Office Manager at Century Vending working alongside Wally until they both retired. Sonia always lovingly supported her children through swimming lessons in East Bay, dance classes, sporting events and a few trips to the hospital. Sonia was a pillar of the community. Along with her mother, Betty, she was an active member of Acme Women's Club, and Central United Methodist Church. She spent much of her time volunteering at the State Hospital, where she would bring homemade baked goods to patients. Together Sonia and Wally were active in the Mercedes Benz Club where she competed in timed events and brought home numerous trophies. The couple fully embraced Northern Michigan, enjoying snowmobiling with friends and boating in East Bay. Sonia was a fierce advocate for women's rights, ecological conservation, and animal welfare. While she was known for her sharp wit and undeniable presence, she would also drop everything to help an injured animal or pet. She will be missed by her neighbors, her circle of snowbirds in Arizona, local friends and her loving family. She is survived by her husband Wally, her children Eric (Kim) Olson, and Elizabeth (Kevin) Young-DuFort, and her grandchildren Spencer (Mary) Olson, Adam (Brooke) Olson, Rachel Young, and Catherine Young. According to Sonia's wishes there will be a family service later this month followed by a celebration of life in the spring. Memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Greater Michigan Chapter, Norther Michigan Office or the Cherryland Humane Society.
