February 8, 1966 to September 12, 2023 Dave passed away on Tuesday September 12, 2023 leaving behind his parents Duncan & Elaine Durham, his brother Rob (Jennifer), the nieces & nephews he so enjoyed - Brittany (Jordan), James, Emily, and Sydney - as well many cousins, and friends in both Toronto and Ottawa. He was pre-deceased by his brother Chris (Jennifer). Dave was a kind, thoughtful, and generous person - he would go out of his way to take an interest in those he loved and follow their lives & activities with great enthusiasm and interest. He was born and raised in Toronto and moved to Ottawa to attend Carlton University. While he would return to Toronto from time to time, he always returned to Ottawa and his many friends there. He was proud of the work he did as part of a crew on a multi-year project to restore the buildings on Parliament Hill. He loved sports, both playing and watching. He loved music, especially live music. He was loved by many. He will be missed by all. Visitation will be held at Dixon Garland Funeral Home on Saturday, September 23, 2023 from 11 - 12p. m. In loving memory of David, a Memorial Service will start at 12 noon followed by a time of refreshments and fellowship. Forever Loved, Never Forgotten . . . April 4, 1928 to November 15, 2023 It is with heavy hearts that we share the unexpected passing of Mona at Markham-Stouffville Hospital at the age of 95. Predeceased by her loving husband of 70 years, Bruce (2020). She will be deeply missed by her children Beverley (Daniel Tooley) and Paul (Christine). Proud grandmother to Kelly and Derek Tooley and Kyle (Grace), Justin and Craig Couperthwaite and GiGi to Henry and Emma Couperthwaite who will miss her dearly. Mona will be sadly missed by her siblings Joyce, Doug (June), and Anne; predeceased by her sisters Lois and Elizabeth and her brothers-in-law Murray and Tom. Mona will be missed by her sisters-in-law Helen Tatters and Helen Coup; predeceased by siblings-in-law George (Ruby), Clarke (Doris), Melville (Marilyn), Marion (John), June (Bill), and Keith. Her many cousins, nieces, and nephews will miss her dearly. Mona, eldest daughter of Elgin and Jean (nee Henderson), was born and raised in Keady, Ontario. In 1949, she married Bruce and they built a home on Maple Lane in Unionville. They enjoyed traveling and tending to their large vegetable gardens and she enjoyed hanging the laundry at home and at the cottage on Canal Lake. Mona took great pride in caring for her husband, children, and home. Mona enjoyed baking and loved when someone brought her something sweet to enjoy. Mona was an avid card player and enjoyed playing bid euchre with family and friends at the Markham Lawn Bowling Club and Rouge Valley. She will be missed dearly and lovingly remembered by those who knew her. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to all of the staff at Chartwell Rouge Valley in Markham for their kindness and compassion in caring for Mona. Family and friends will be received at Dixon-Garland Funeral Home, 166 Main Street Markham North, Markham, on Wednesday, November 22, 2023. Always loved and forever missed. . . Raymond Bushell Oct 5, 1930 - Nov 6, 2023 It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our father Raymond John Bushell. Passed peacefully at Markhaven Nursing Home on Nov 6th. Proud father of Kevin, Wayne, and Michael. Loving husband to Maureen Bushell (nee: Galletley). Born in Old Swan Liverpool on the 5th of October in 1930 to Jack and Ruth Bushell (nee: Wood). Raymond immigrated to Canada in the year of 1952 arriving in Montreal on the Ascania, making his way to Markham where he resided for the remainder of his life. Raymond was a master plumber by trade and brilliant at his craft. Raymond and Maureen bought their home in Markham in 1956 and raised 3 boys. Raymond was also a gifted piano player and avid bicycle rider who was a member of the merseyside wheelers who competed in a bicycle tour from Montreal to Quebec City in 1954. Raymond was a brilliant father and husband who constantly provided for his family. Not only did he provide for his family but he was also willing and able to help anyone who needed it. He offered his neighbors and friends a helping hand with any handiwork and plumbing issues up until 85 years of age. Raymond and Maureen remained in the same home for 67 years until moving to Markhaven Nursing Home in June of 2022. Predeceased by his brother Derek, sister Joy and first born son Kevin. Survived by his brothers Norman, Ron, and Ken and his sister June. Raymond made a great impact on the community who will be fondly remembered and sadly missed. Thank you to all doctors, nurses, and support staff at Markhaven and Markham Stouffville Hospital for everything you have done for Raymond. Also a great thank you to all his friends, family and neighbors for all your love and support throughout the years of his life. Thank you Raymond for being an amazing father teaching us important life values and providing us the great life that you have given us. We know that you are in great company now and forever. Robert Pascua Osoteo "Bert" August 11, 1947 - October 24, 2023 It is with heavy hearts our family announces the sudden passing of Robert Pascua Osoteo on October 24th, 2023 at Markham Stouffville Hospital with family by his side. Those left to mourn his loss are his loving wife of 52 years, Margarita; his daughters, Maybel, Totie, Faye Ann and Marissa; son-in-laws, Paul, Jason, and Matt; his grandchildren, Makayla, Tyler, Callista and Elijah. Robert leaves this world to join his parents Rafael and Felicidad. Robert will be dearly missed for his sense of humour; his talent for being a handyman; his fondness for cooking; his deep love for his family and his friends; and for lending a helping hand wherever needed. Robert was born in Bacnotan la union, Philippines and immigrated to Canada in 1975. He graduated from mechanical engineering in 1969 and had a true passion for life. Ernst Alois Frank passed away peacefully at the age of 94 on October 30, 2023, with Karin, his loving wife of 71 years, at his side and surrounded by his children and their spouses. Born in Villach, Austria in 1929, Ernie lived through the Depression and World War II and emerged with resilience, optimism and a strength of spirit that he carried with him throughout his long life. He married Karin, the love of his life, in July 1952. A year later they immigrated to Canada with virtually no money and little knowledge of English, but with a fierce determination to succeed. Ernie worked multiple jobs for several years until he landed a position at Canadian Tire where he had a successful career for 38 years, retiring from a management position at the company's head office in 1993. In the face of adversity Ernie always tried harder, kept going and never gave up. He was a champion boxer in Austria and continued fighting in Toronto for several more years after he and Karin came to Canada. He enjoyed pursuing athletics throughout his life, finishing the Toronto Marathon in 1983 at the age of 54, riding a bike into his 80s, and canoeing and walking along the lake in his 90s. He had a terrific sense of humour and was always up for any adventure. He loved his wife and family with all of his heart and was enormously proud of his children and grandchildren. Ernie is survived by his wife Karin, sons Brian (Claire) and Jeffrey (Julie), and daughter Anita Forgie (Ken) as well as his sister Toni and family in Austria. He was predeceased by his daughter Jenny. He leaves behind eight grandchildren: Brendan (Rosie), Robbie (Emma) Neil, Tristan, Liam, Declan, Amanda and Erin; and two great grandsons, Rhys and Jamie. He was a much loved presence in their lives and they will all miss him tremendously. A private celebration of life will be held at a future date. Gordon Harvard Turnbull April 2, 1938 - October 9, 2023 It is with heavy hearts that the family of Gordon Harvard Turnbull announces his sudden passing on October 9 th in Markham at the age of 85. Gordon was born in Toronto, Ontario in 1938. He graduated top of his class from Gas Technology at Ryerson Institute of Technology in 1960. He was Vice-President of the frat and an editor for the Instrument Society of America Club. Several years later he completed his Mechanical Engineering degree at The University of Toronto. During his career as a Professional Engineer at Ontario Hydro he worked at headquarters in Toronto, Pickering Nuclear Generating Station as section manager plant design and for Atomic Energy of Canada in Romania on the CANDU reactor for two years, specializing in Safety Systems. His great passions in life were spending time with his family, travelling, boating, coaching and volunteering. His favorite activities being hockey, curling, boating and fishing, sailing and golf. He was a passionate Toronto Maple Leaf's and Toronto Blue Jays fan. Gordon's memory will forever be cherished by his loving wife, Joann of 64 years, his daughters Linda (Bob) and Catherine (RJ), his sons Derek and Graham (Wendy), his grandchildren Steven and Andrew (Amanda), Julia and Yvie, Luke, Nicholas and Katelyn, his great grandchildren Jeremy, Kendra and Kyelle, and siblings Harvard and Teresa. Gordon is predeceased by his mother Bertha, his father John and his brother Brian.
