Barbara was born on June 7, 1955, in Columbus, Ohio to her parents James Lloyd Somerlott and Wilda Ann (Sexton) Somerlott. She attended Johnstown Monroe High School where she met William Shane whom she would marry on August 19, 1972. Bill and Barb would go on to raise a large and loving family and share 51 years of marriage together. Barbara leaves to cherish her memory her adoring husband William Shane; son Bradley (Alice) Shane; daughters Bernadette Green and Bonna (Kevin) Behnke; grandchildren Kelsey, Matthew, Scott, Jayme, Stephaney, Layla, Julia, Anthony, and Jason; great grandchildren Kierston, Suniva, and Gatlin; brother Steven (Raylene) Somerlott; and sister Brenda (Daniel) Smith. Barbara joins in rest her parents James and Wilda Somerlott; sister Bonna Somerlott; and grandmother Margie Somerlott. She will be dearly missed. In every sense of the word Barbara was a caretaker. After high school she earned an associate degree and her certification as registered nurse. She worked at Knox Community Hospital for 15 years until she retired. Barbara raised a big family, all of whom she loved dearly but especially her grand and great grandchildren. She always made sure everyone was taken care of and felt equally loved. She was a devout and practicing Christian. She and Bill were members of and regularly attended Centerburg Christian Church where Barbara served as a deaconess and financial secretary. She also volunteered with the Sisters in Service group. Her love of God and love of people governed the roles and efforts she took on and endeavored in her life. She loved to paint, garden, and read but most of all loved spending time with her family. Though tragically brief, Barbara spent her life in the service of others and the Lord which leaves behind an emptiness filled with love and warmth due to the kindness and memories she made sure to leave in her wake. Truly she lived a life well lived. The family would like to extend a special thanks to EMT's and medical personnel at St. Ann's for their kindness, efforts, and care of Barbara in her final hours and to church, family, and friends for their support during this trying time.
