David Branham, age 93, of Albion, Michigan passed away on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 with his family by his side. A visitation for David will be held Monday, October 16, 2023 at 10:30 AM at J. Kevin Tidd Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 11:30 AM, 811 Finley Dr, Albion, Michigan 49224. David will be laid to rest at Fort Custer National Cemetery with his late wife, Bertha Branham following services at 2:00PM, October 16, 2023, 15501 Dickman Rd. , Augusta, MI 49012. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked Memorials be made to the Battle Creek VA Medical Center in Memory of David. Checks should be made payable to: Battle Creek VA Medical Center and mailed to Community and Volunteer Service (135), 5500 Armstrong Road, Battle Creek, MI 49037.

Michael Paul Chapman "Boomer", age 44 of Augusta, GA, formerly of Albion, MI passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, November 30, 2023. He was born March 24, 1979 in Albion MI the son of Keith and Michele (Rumsey) Chapman Boomer graduated from Albion High School, attended Central Michigan University and was most recently employed as a Logistic Agent for Landstar System in Augusta and Belize. Prior to his move to Augusta, GA, he worked at Frank Beck Chevrolet in Hillsdale, MI. Living life to the fullest was Boomers outlook on life. At a young age he developed a love for music, a passion for sports, and a genuine appreciation for culture and community. While attending CMU he learned the art of being an entrepreneur, writing lyrics for his band, and recording albums. His favorite days of the year were opening day of Tigers, Thanksgiving Day Lions game and the Masters Tournament. Connecting with his neighbors and community was a favorite pastime of Boomers. You would regularly find Boomer, with his infectious smile, playing the piano in a room full of friends. Or sitting on his porch chatting with neighbors while strumming his guitar and listening to his favorite vinyl albums. He thoroughly enjoyed attending cultural events to broaden his knowledge of art and music. Boomer will be remembered for his blond locks, his warm and welcoming personality, and zest for life. He leaves to cherish his memories, his parents, Keith and Michele Chapman of Albion, brother Bart (Nancy) Chapman, sister Suzanne (James) McKenzie, nephews: Haydon Chapman, Harrison Chapman, JD McKenzie, several aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and friends, and last, but not least, his beloved dog companion, Murphy. Elaine Marilyn Justice, 84, of Albion, Michigan, passed away Wednesday, November 8, 2023. She was born November 21, 1938 in Albion, Michigan the daughter of Wayne and Leota (Herriff) Sleeper. Elaine's life was centered around her profound love for family and cherished moments spent with her loved ones. She found immense joy in the laughter and company of her children, grandchildren, and kids. Elaine had a passion for collecting porcelain dolls, cherishing each one with care and adding to her beloved collection over the years. Her nurturing nature extended beyond her collection, as she always prioritized taking care of her family, ensuring their well-being and happiness. Elaine's home was a haven filled with love and sweetness, as she always kept a glass full of candy for everyone to enjoy. Fishing adventures with her husband brought her great pleasure, creating beautiful memories amidst nature's tranquility. As members of the Albion Eagles Lodge, Elaine and her loved ones shared a sense of community and togetherness. Big family reunions and the joy of cooking family dinners for holidays were moments that Elaine eagerly looked forward to, as they brought her immense happiness and strengthened the bonds she held dear. Elaine's dedication to family, her nurturing spirit, and her love for creating lasting memories will forever be cherished, serving as a reminder of the importance of cherishing family time and treasuring the simple joys in life. Edward Howell, age 89, of Albion, Michigan, went to be with the Lord on November 11, 2023. Edward was born on April 11, 1934, in Pikeville, Kentucky, the son of Ambrose and Irene (Dye) Howell, who have preceded him in death. Looking for work, he left Kentucky and moved to Michigan where he met and married Marlene Drinkwater. They enjoyed 56 years of marriage before Marlene's passing. Edward worked at Corning Glass Works and then Specialty Castings until his retirement. He had a strong faith in God and joined the Old Regular Baptist Church in May of 1973. He was ordained as a minister and served many years as a moderator of Little Marie Church in Litchfield, Michigan, until his health declined. In his spare time, Edward loved to hunt and fish. In addition to his parents and wife, Edward is preceded in death by his siblings: David Howell, Anthony Howell, Green Howell, Merlin Howell, Alice Adams, Linda Sue Salisbury, Mary Bell Shihadeh, Sally Smith, and Molly Howell. He is survived by his children, Allen (Ritha) Howell and Marilyn Osbourn; grandchildren: Jason (Sunshine) Howell, Lindsay Hetherington, Amy (Sergio) Hatcher, Kalinda Vogel, Nate (Sierra) Miller, Hannah Howell, Max (Han) Howell, and Jared Howell; 17 great-grandchildren; and siblings: Nan (Richard) Lentz, Clifford Howell, Lona Parson, and Susie Howell. Services honoring Edwards life will be held at 11:00 a. m. on Thursday, November 16, 2023, at Little Marie Church of the Old Regular Baptist Church located at 4560 W. Harvey Jackson Martin, age 82, of Albion, Michigan, went to be with the Lord on November 8, 2023, in the comfort of his home from a two-year illness. Harvey was born on July 15, 1941, in Piedmont, Alabama, the son of Julius and Jessie Martin, who have preceded him in death. He worked as an electrician for many years as a Master Electrician at General Motors as well as owned and operated Martin's Electric. Harvey was actively involved in his church where he was a deacon, taught Sunday school classes and sat on the Board of Directors. He married the love of his life, Judy Weddington, and they have been blessed with over 61 years together. Harvey enjoyed spending time with his family which included his Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. Along with his parents, Harvey is preceded in death by his son, Dean Martin, and siblings: Arthur Martin, Johnny Martin, and Hazel Johns. He is survived by his wife, Judy Martin; children: Jodi (Mark) Eldred, Shannon (Kristina Andrews) Martin, and Michelle (Tim Caudill) Martin; grandchildren: Dusty, Hayden (Madison B. ), Tristand, Codee, Zeth (Madison C. ), Lane, Hunter, Gavin, Kaja, Damien, Darian, and Chase; and great-grandchildren: Julian, Lauren, Adrian, Marley, and Piper. Fred A. Bartel, Jr. , age 87 of Albion passed away Sunday, November 5, 2023 in Jackson under the loving care of Hospice and his family. He was born November 13, 1935 in Albion, MI the son of Fred A. Bartel, Sr. and Elisabeth (Bartsch) Bartel and they preceded him in death. Fred was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marian VanSchoick on February of 2009 and daughter, Debra Miller. Fred was a family man who loved family get-togethers and watching his grandkids play sports. He also loved weekend breakfasts with the breakfast group. He was a farmer and also a pattern maker by trade working in several different machining shops in the area. Fred leaves to cherish his memory son Dennis (Pattie) Bartel, daughter, Kathy Browning, son-in-law, Bob Miller, sister Rosemary Chapman, brother-in-law, Kenny VanSchoick, 22 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren (with 1 on the way) and 2 great-great grandchildren (with 2 on the way).
