 Genevieve Huck was born February 16, 1932 in Chicago, IL (Bridgeport) to the late Charlotte (Jacobs) Rejsek and Joseph Rejsek. Genevieve was the youngest of three children and is preceded in death by her brother, Joseph (Eileen) Rejsek and sister, LaVerne (Norm) Provan.  Genevieve passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on February 29, 2024.   Genevieve married her loving husband who is preceded in death, Joseph W. Huck, son of Mary and John Huck also preceded in death. Genevieve and Joseph married on February 7, 1953 at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Chicago, IL (Bridgeport).   Genevieve and Joseph were the loving parents of seven children: Richard (Victoria Konopasek) Huck, Judith (Kim) Klopfenstein, David (Barbara Strelow) Huck, the late James (Lynne Martin) Huck, Robert Huck, the late Janet Huck and Steven (Heather Lankford) Huck.   Genevieve was the beloved grandmother of twelve grandchildren and six great-grandchildren:  Joseph, Obediah (great grandson, Kaden) and Michael (girlfriend, Alex Thompson) Klopfenstein, Sam (Ashely) Huck, Frank Huck, Sarah (Greg) King (and their children, Ophelia, Liem and Damien), Julie (John) Kirsch (and their children, Jonny and Riley) and Katie Huck (fiancé, Marcelo Picallo), and William, Clare, and Alexander (AJ) Huck and Jared Konopasek. Condolences from James’s first wife Debi (Zimmerman-Huck) Kolata.     Genevieve and Joseph resided in Chicago for 3 years, then in East Hazel Crest, IL  for 5 years before moving to Mount Prospect, IL. In 1965. After successfully, faithfully and joyfully as a committed traditional housewife to her husband and as a loving mother raising 7 children to adulthood throughout 5 decades (1950’s, 1960’s, 1970’s, 1980’s, 1990’s) - even continuing this mission after the passing of her husband Joseph in 1977, Genevieve worked at Door County Confectionary in Randhurst Mall for 3 years in the 2000’s before moving to Sun City Del Webb in Huntley, IL. She enjoyed participating in the many activities at Del Webb especially performing on stage with the “Strutters Dance Group”.     Visitation will be held on Friday March 8 at the Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home, 185 E. NW Hwy, Palatine, IL from 3-8 PM. Service will be held on Saturday, March 9 at 10:30 AM at the funeral home before proceeding to the All Saints Mausoleum in Des Plaines for the final blessing and entombment.    We would like to thank the ER and ICU Doctors and Nursing staff at Parkview Randallia Hospital in Fort Wayne, IN for taking exceptional, compassionate care of our mother, Genevieve. With profound sadness, we share that our beloved husband, dad, grandfather, great grandfather Thiep Tran, aged 97, passed away on February 26, 2024. He lived a storied life, immigrating through China, Cambodia, and Vietnam before making Chicago home. He found great joy in sharing with others the stories of his family’s achievements, the lives they built in the US, a source of immeasurable pride for him and his wife. He was a generous and kind man who cared deeply for his family and the communities in which he was a leader both at home and abroad. May he rest in peace, knowing that he was cherished by all whose lives he touched. Please join us in honoring and celebrating Thiep’s long and prosperous life. Hernandez, Antolina (Barreto) passed away peacefully on February 28th, 2024 at the age of 102 ½ years. A devout woman of God, her life was dedicated to prayer and her family. She prayed the Rosary and the Chaplet of the Divine Mercy daily. Her children and family members would turn to her for prayers during difficult times and all would ask for her blessing. In her younger years, Antolina enjoyed hobbies such as sewing and embroidery. She spent the Spring and Summer gardening while enjoying nature. Her favorite pastime was spending time with her family. Her home was visited by many and welcomed to all, always with a hot cup of coffee and crackers. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Isidro, with whom she was married to for nearly 60 years, her late son Jose (Maria), late twin son Raul (Robin), late twin son Saul. She is survived by her children Hector (Susana), Gladys (Juan), Carlos (Gladys), Maria (James), Bernadette (Tulio), Nelida (Victor), 22 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. A visitation for Antolina will be held Monday, March 4, 2024 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Malec & Sons Funeral Home, 6000 North Milwaukee Ave, Chicago, IL 60646. Marion was a good cook, known for her delicious chop suey and making her holiday potato salad. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Harvey Babetch, age 91, beloved husband and love of his life for 65 years of Lynn Babetch, nee Lakin; loving father of Sheri (Michael) O’Hair, Lauri (Neal) Shamis, and Leslie Babetch; adored Pops of Matt (Alyssa) Shamis, Jordan (Hanna) Shamis, Abby (Eli) Cooper, Kevin (Brittany) O’Hair, and Steven (Jessica) O’Hair; proud great-grandfather of Olivia, Riley, Jake, Leo, Beau, Kara, and Bryson; devoted son of the late Albert and the late Jean Babetch; cherished brother of Sandi (late Ben) Braver and the late Irwin (Bobbi) Babetch; dear brother-in-law of Ron (Helene) Lakin; Harvey lived an incredible life. He played basketball for Von Steuben High School and held the Chicago city scoring record of 87 points for more than 40 years. Harvey went on to play for Bradley University in the NCAA National Championship game in 1954 and then played professionally for the St. Louis Hawks. He then travelled the world playing for the All-Star Team against the Harlem Globetrotters for several years.
