Darlene Mae Rossiter, 75 of Hamburg, AR, died Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at her home surrounded by family. She was a retired CNA for Area Agency on Aging of Crossett, AR, and a member of Phillip Grove Baptist Church where she served as president of the Mission Ministry, and vice-president of the Ushers Ministry. 'Doy Mae', as she was affectionately called, enjoyed fishing and working puzzle books. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Sylvia Ellis (1997), a son, Willie Richard Ellis (2015), her parents, Bill and Daylene Edward Marshall, three brothers, Leonard, Carnell, and Jessie B. Marshall, and two sisters, Ruthie Dean Marshall and Ruby Radford. She is survived by one daughter, Marie and husband Johnny Hampton of Hamburg, AR, step-son, Marcus D. Webster of New Mexico; three brothers, Jerry Lee, Frank, and Gary Marshall all of Magnolia, AR, eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and other relatives and friends. The family expresses a special thanks to her sitter, Cynthia Childs and Hospice of Monticello. Funeral services are Sunday, October 8, 2023 at 2:30 P. M. at Phillip Grove Baptist Church with Bro. Johnny Foster, 67, of White Hall, formerly of Hamburg, died Sunday, December 3, 2023, at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock. Mr. Foster was a native of Bastrop, Louisiana, a resident of White Hall for the past 20 years, a former resident of Bastrop for 10 years, and Hamburg for 37 years. He was a 1975 graduate of Hamburg High School, a member of the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, and was baptized in Peacocks Pond. He was a salesman at Core & Main, having retired in 2022 after 20 years of service. When he lived in Hamburg, Mr. Foster worked for the Hamburg Water Department for many years and was a retired Captain for the Hamburg Fire Department. He also was an Emergency Medical Technician with the ambulance service and was involved with the Hamburg Search and Rescue Unit. Mr. Foster was a 32nd degree Mason, a Worshipful Master, and a member of the Pine Bluff Masonic Lodge #69. He enjoyed working in his garden, canning vegetables, and fishing. He was an avid hunter and loved spending time with his family and friends going camping. He is preceded in death by a daughter, Seleta Kay Foster in 2022; his mother and step-father, Sue White and Mack Robinson; his father and step-mother, Howard and Barbara Stell Foster; his brother, James "Jimmy" Foster; and a step-brother, Hank Stell. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Kathy Rhoden Foster of White Hall; a daughter, Becky Foster; a brother, Joe Foster; a step-brother, Jimmy Stell and wife, Pam, all of Hamburg; a step-sister, Patricia Miller and husband, James, of Crossett; a grandson, Justin Foster and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services are 2 p. m. , Thursday, December 7, 2023, at the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church with Bro. Buddy Kinney officiating. Burial will be in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Richard Andrew "Peanut" Edwards, was born on April 29, 1949, in Crossett, Arkansas. He passed away at the Countryside Assisted Living in Hamburg, Arkansas on November 18, 2023. He graduated from Crossett High School in 1967, and married Ruth Ellen Fife in 1968. He was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church for fifty years. Richard was an avid fan of racing. He loved the NHRA and NASCAR and spent a lot of time at the dirt tracks, where he loved the World of Outlaw Dirt Track Racers. He also loved to bass fish and helped establish and officiate the annual Georgia Pacific fishing tournament. He served as secretary of the Crossett Bass Club for many years. One of his many other interests was bowling, where he bowled in the men's league as well as the couples league. He also spent time as a member of the Southern Stars Dance Club where he enjoyed square dancing with his wife and other members. He was an active player on the Georgia Pacific volleyball team and the Georgia Pacific Golf League and participated in intra-company tournaments. He was a member of the Prairie Country Club and played golf at every available opportunity. He also loved playing on the Ouachita River, especially after Todd began to learn to water ski. He was a member of the North Crossett Volunteer Fire Department for thirty-three years, where he was given the honor of Fireman of the Year in 2006. He retired from Georgia Pacific after thirty-three years and later retired from the North Crossett Gas and Water after twelve years. Richard was a beloved member of his community and called friend by many that loved him as he was always ready to step up to the challenge if anyone was in need. He is preceded in death by his parents, Billy Jack "Papa Jack" and Hazel Youngblood Edwards; his mother-in-law, Mary Ruth Gean Fife; father-in-law, James P. "Buddy" Fife; brother-in-law, James Michael Fife; one nephew, Michael Allen Fife; and one niece, Selena Calloway. He is survived by his wife of fifty-five years, Ruth Ellen Fife Edwards; one son, Richard "Todd" Edwards; and one daughter-in-law that he loved as his own, Beverly "Bebe" Hales Edwards; along with two granddaughters, Taylar Edwards Davis, and Maranda Johnson (Wesley); one grandson, Jeremy Defee (Tonia); nine great-grandchildren, Robbie-Jane Davis, Avery Joy Johnson, Ryker Johnson, Maverick Johnson, Olivia Grace Defee, Macie Rae Parker, Nathan Defee, Caleb Defee, and "adopted" great-granddaughter, Kelsey Nicole Brown; two brothers, Billy Wayne Edwards (Annette), and Ernie Edwards (Dianne); one sister, Kim Edwards; and one nephew, Ian Ashcraft. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a. m. , Tuesday, November 21st, at Medders Funeral Home, 1564 Hwy 52 W, in Crossett, with Bro. Keith Boseman, officiating, followed by interment at Crossroads Cemetery under the direction of Medders Funeral Home. Carl Tremaine "Man" Wright, age 42 of Hamburg, AR. , died Wednesday October 4, 2023, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff, AR. He was of the Baptist Faith and employed by the City of Hamburg. Carl attended Arkansas Career Development Center in Hot Springs, AR. , where he studied landscaping. He put his heart into landscaping and blessed others with his talent for doing it. Mr. Wright enjoyed hanging out with his friends laughing, joking, and putting on their own version of a comedy show. He loved helping people and would do whatever he could to assist anyone in any way that he could. Mr. Wright was preceded in death by his sister Shardae Wright (2012), paternal grandparents James and Irene Wright, and maternal grandfather Roosevelt Joiner. Mary Ann Kelley White, 90, of Hamburg, entered the pearly gates of Heaven on Friday, September 8, 2023. Mary Ann was born in Promise Land on February 1, 1933. She was a resident of Hamburg all her life and a 1951 graduate of Hamburg High School. She began her career working at the Ashley County Abstract office in 1952. In 1957, she began working at the Ashley County Courthouse for Roby Hollis and in 1972, was elected Ashley County Clerk, where she served two terms. Mary Ann worked at Hamburg City Hall, first in the water department and then as City Clerk from 1980-1987. After her retirement from County/City government, she enjoyed working at Jones Flower Shop in Hamburg for 3 1/2 years. In retirement, she was busy traveling, playing cards with her friends, and working in her yard. Mary Ann was one of the first members of the Gardner Baptist Church, when First Baptist Church founded it in the early 1960s and had just recently moved her membership back to Hamburg First Baptist Church when she could no longer drive. If you were lucky, you would get a batch of her famous peanut brittle during the Christmas season and she would make over a 100 batches to give to her friends and family. The children of the subdivision always knew they were welcome to go to Mary Ann's and get a popsicle. She always kept an immaculate yard and house, was plain-spoken and a friend to everyone she met. Going before her were her parents, Arthur and Sallie Brooks Kelley, a brother, Willie Claude Kelley and his wife, her best friend, Martha Sue, and her former husband and friend, Buddy White. She is survived by one son and her pride and joy, Chuck White and wife, Janet; a brother, Bobby Joe Kelley and wife, Pat, all of Hamburg; four grandchildren, Colby White, Emily Berryman, Nik Wood, and Rayne Welch; five great-grandchildren, Cashden White, Rhett Berryman, Blaise White, Raelee Berryman, and Aiden Wood "two of the best nieces in the world", Jana Evans and Melinda Long; a nephew, Chris Kelley and a host of other family and countless friends. The family would like to publicly thank her caregiver for the past couple of weeks, Stacey McCloud, and Hospice Home Care for their compassion, love, and excellent care.
