Paula Bentley Obituary Paula (Gaskill) Bentley, 96, known by many as Grandmother, entered into eternal rest on November 16th, 2023. Surrounded by the nursing staff who cared for her, she passed in the Cabool nursing home of natural causes. Paula was born on February 12, 1927, in Okfuskee County, Oklahoma. Paula devoted her life to serving the Lord and was always happy to share her faith with others. She met her husband, Pat, at the schoolhouse where she worked and instantly fell in love. After marrying, the two of them built a family rooted in a love for God and each other. She loved teaching others about Christ and did so during the numerous Vacation Bible Schools and Good News Clubs she taught. Later in life, she carried this passion to the assisted living facility, where she regularly engaged in bible study with her fellow residents. Paula loved painting and was prolific. Her home always had multiple works in-progress, with several finished pieces, each intended for a specific person. Her favorite subject was nature, including the old farm in Quack Valley. She derived a great deal of joy from painting for loved ones. She is preceded in death by her husband Ernest (Pat) Gilbert Bentley and her sons Lawrence Wayne and Terry Allen. She is survived by three children Tom, Loren, and Rayleen, as well as 17 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Her funeral service will take place at the Barada Global Methodist Church on Saturday, November 25, 2023, at 11:00 AM with Pastor Mike Hader officiating. Immediately after, there will be a graveside service at the Harris Cemetery. To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Paula Bentley, please visit our floral store. Evelyn Paulette "Polly" Medwid, 74, of Cabool, passed away surrounded by the love of her family. Born in 1949 in Osceola Arkansas, Polly was the beloved daughter of Ruby and Cecil McGlaughlin. Growing up, Polly's life was enriched by the bonds with her siblings--two brothers, Terry and Cecil Jr. , both of whom predeceased her, and her beloved sister, Ceal, who remains to keep the family stories alive. In the heart of Chicago, 55 years ago, Polly's life took a beautiful turn when she met Michael Medwid, the man who would become her devoted husband and the father of her children. Their enduring love was the foundation of a family that would grow to include three sons--Michael, the late Bryan, and David--as well as a daughter, Terry, who brought joy and purpose to Polly's life. In 1981, Polly embarked on a new chapter as the Medwid family put down roots in Cabool. It was here that she dedicated herself to the most important role of her life, raising her family. Her home was a sanctuary of warmth, laughter, and endless support, a testament to her unconditional love and tireless devotion to her children. Above all, Polly was a doting grandmother to her ten grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren, each of whom she loved "to the moon and back. " Her unique bond with them was built on stories, laughter, and the kind of love that transcends time and space. The Medwid family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the Cabool community for years of friendship and support. A private memorial for the family will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making a donation to a charity of your choosing. While Polly's presence will be dearly missed, the warmth of her love and the strength of her spirit will continue to inspire those who loved her, ensuring that her remarkable story lives on.
