Allen Buckman

Allen Buckman

Age - 53

November 28, 2023

Allen Dale Buckman, 53, passed away on Nov 24, 2023, in Brigham City, Utah. He was born on June 6, 1970, to Valerie Potter and Wendell Pabst in Salt Lake City, Utah as the first of many siblings. He was adopted by Paul Buckman, Valerie's loving husband. Allen is an angel and always has been. He melted hearts. He had a contagious smile and laugh. He loved to spend time with family (and sometimes didn't want to leave). He loved to do puzzles of any size, which he did with great patience and pleasure. He loved to listen to music and play the piano - especially "The Indian Song". He was a peacemaker in that his spirit had an influence for good on those around him. He had empathy for how others were feeling. He loved to smile and say that he was happy. He loved birthday parties and wished every one he attended was his. He loved yogurt, ice cream, and graham crackers with milk. He was strong, and loved to arm wrestle. He loved to be the life of the party. He loved to give high fives (and high twos, and any other number). He loved to give a thumbs up and say "Ace", or sign "I love you" or "hang loose". Allen loved going to Camp Kostopulos where he rode horses, spent time with friends, and did many other activities. Allen graduated from Highland High School's Special Education program with the help of great teachers there. He was employed for years at the Work Activity Center, Deseret Industries, and other kind places. Allen has always been an angel in spirit, but his physical health issues have been massive and hard. Valerie and Paul Buckman have taken care of Allen through thick and thin. It has been an intense labor of love that has spanned the decades. He was surely a man of mighty faith in heaven before he was born. He is destined for greatness. We look forward to meeting him in the next life, forever free of his Down's Syndrome. He is a special and gifted son of God who has done a great work on the Earth in each of our lives. During that last years of his life, he suffered many grand mal seizures. On November 24, 2023, after spending a beautiful Thanksgiving the day before, he had his last seizure. He was given a beautiful priesthood blessing by David, and he peacefully crossed to the other side at 5:45 am, holding Paul's hand. Allen is Home! His heavenly home. Our hearts go out to Valerie and Paul who gave their all in joyful sacrifice and love! They give and love and live consecrated lives! Our hearts are with you today and always. He is preceded in death by his brothers Bryce Hathaway and Phillip Pabst, who have surely welcomed him with their eager and loving arms. Diana Thompson

Diana Thompson

Age - 80

November 22, 2023

Diana C. Thompson September 25, 1943 - November 20, 2023 SUNSET - Diana passed away on Monday November 20, 2023 at the home of her daughter Wendy Armstrong after a decades-long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Ogden, Utah to Lyman J. Cottam and Lela Garner Cottam, the oldest of 5 children. Diana grew up in Sahara Village which later became Hooper, Utah. She attended Roy Jr. High and graduated from the "old" Weber High School in 1961. Diana married Larry V. Thompson on July 12, 1962 in the Manti, Utah temple. After their honeymoon Larry was drafted and they moved to Killeen, Texas for 2 years while he served in the Army. After returning to Utah they lived briefly in Roy and eventually moved to Sunset where she lived for 57 years. She and Larry were able to celebrate 51 years of marriage before his passing. They had two children, Wendy Thompson Armstrong and Paul L. Thompson. Diana was a life-long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in many positions and callings. She had a very strong testimony of the gospel and her Savior. She was a quiet example of service and compassion, never wanting to draw attention to herself or expect praise for a good deed. Diana was an amazing mother! She taught us kids from very early ages basic life skills and made sure we had great experiences. She played Scrabble and hang-man with us before we could even really spell. She read to us and made sure we did well in school. We had daily and weekly chores and she taught us how to sew and iron. She made sure we knew the value of hard work and never just handed anything to us. She lived modestly and made sure we never went without. She planned vacations for our family every summer whether it was spending a weekend in Idaho visiting family, taking trips to visit the national parks, or camping at Bear Lake. She took us to church every Sunday and taught us gospel principles and the importance of living a Christ-like life. Diana had a great love of music and singing. She had a beautiful alto voice and sang in the ward choir. She appreciated all kinds of music - everything from Elvis, Sonny and Cher, the Oakridge Boys, Barbra Streisand, and The Choir at Tabernacle Square. She also loved movie/musicals. Grease and Mama Mia were her favorites! Country music was her favorite genre. Mom retired from the IRS after many years of seasonal work. Diana is survived by her daughter Wendy (Russ) Armstrong of Washington Terrace; son Paul (Candis) Thompson of Layton; 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; brothers David Cottam and Blaine (Connie) Cottam. She was preceded in death by her husband Larry, her parents, an infant sister Gaylynn, and younger brother Gary Cottam.
