Bethany J. (Palmer) Eschedor, 52, of Bowling Green, Ohio, passed away in her home surrounded by her loving family on December 7, 2023 after a courageous battle with cancer. Bethany was born on September 30, 1971 in Bowling Green, Ohio to the late Jim Palmer & Betty Clarke Palmer. She graduated from Bowling Green High School and Bowling Green State University with a degree in Interior Design. She began her career at Homeworks Paint Store and, while there, created her own drapery company, Elegant Elements, before taking time away to start her family. She was a wonderfully creative person, with a great eye for detail that followed her throughout all facets of her life. On December 3, 1994, Bethany married her soulmate, Scott Eschedor, who was her faithful partner for 29 years. They lived a beautiful life together - building their own home, creating a family and tackling life's challenges with grace and unity. To Bethany, her biggest accomplishment was raising her three children: Isabella, August and Edison. A stay-at-home mom for most of their early life, there was nothing she was more proud of than her children. From being P. T. O. president, Girl Scout troop leader, and volunteering for endless school and sporting events, she was always ready to devote her time to her children's ambitions and interests. Once her children were older and she returned to work, she found passion in multiple jobs, including being the Building Substitute for Crim Elementary, working as a Pharmacy Technician at the Falcon Health Center and, most recently, doing Investor Relations for Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce. She also created and led a cancer support group for others affected in the community. Bethany knew the love of God and shared His love with others daily. She was a very active member of Hope Lutheran Church, where she led Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and served as a committee member. Her faith provided her much comfort and strength through to the end. Bethany will always be remembered for her lively spirit, warm personality and selflessness. She was a dedicated wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend, who had the unique ability to make anyone feel loved, cherished and accepted. Many will agree that she lit up any room she walked into, and she will forever live on in the memories of those who love her greatly. Bethany is survived by her husband, Scott; children: Isabella (Daz) Carter, August Eschedor and Edison Eschedor; parents-in-law: John and Ruth Eschedor; siblings: Kerry Palmer, Kelly (Tom) Griffing, Eric (Jackie) Palmer, Erin Szavuly and Brett (Lisa) Palmer; brother-in-law Gregg (Jennifer) Eschedor; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, church family and beloved friends. Visitation will be held on Thursday December 14, 2023 from 2:00 p. m. to 7:00 p. m. at Dunn Funeral Home, located in the Historical District of Bowling Green at 408 W. Rita Mary Hertzfeld, 80, passed peacefully on November 30, 2023. Born on December 23, 1942, Rita was the fifth and youngest child of Grace (Wicks) and Richard G. Hertzfeld, Sr. of Waterville, Ohio. Rita and her beloved H. John Lyke of Denver, Colorado enjoyed nearly forty years of endearing love and mutual admiration for each other. The couple took pleasure in politics, current events and history, traveling and cruising, supporting the Denver Broncos, and gathering with family and friends. John spoke of Rita as "the love of my life. " After graduating in 1960 from Anthony Wayne High School, Rita pursued further education by earning a diploma of registered nursing in June 1963 from the Mercy School of Nursing, Toledo, Ohio. As a young professional Rita worked at Mercy Hospital, Toledo. By 1966, Rita moved to Colorado as a Midwest transplant and experienced an enriching fifty-seven year life adventure where she quickly developed friendships with fellow nurses and healthcare providers. Rita and Wilma "Willy" Whitley from South Dakota became quick friends while working as psychiatric nurses at the Colorado Psychiatric Hospital on the University of Colorado campus, Denver. Rita retired from Denver General Hospital in 1996 after serving the medical profession for thirty-three years. Tremendously independent woman Rita was creative as well. She nurtured a warm and comfortable home filled with travel mementos, stacks of books, picture frames of poems and groupings of friends, and a wall in her dining room specified for her cherished "family tree" photographs. Rita's deep devotion and love of her family and friends will be greatly missed. She had that unique quality to be everyone's friend and a true gift of remembering each person's name and details with sensitive interest. Holidays were spent with her Colorado family Clarence (Tess) Zimmerma, Claire Hooper and Jessica (Steve) Sniadach, and special niece Jean (Marlan) Anderson and their family, Lydia, Chappell, Megan, Simeon, Ali, and Holly. Rita nurtured a sisterhood with the Denver Divas: Ann Bragassa, Sharon Majeres-Tate, Connie Sadler, Linda Soran, and Wilma "Willy" Whitley. United by the medical profession and a sense of adventure this circle of strong-minded women played bridge, enjoyed gambling at the casino, and retreated in the Colorado Mountains. Rita is survived by her sister Dorothy Ford of Tecumseh, MI with whom she had a very special bond. Rita is also survived by her much-loved partner John, and the Lyke family including Julia Lyke, Jennifer Lyke and her children Jackson and Thomas, Christopher Lyke and his children Owen and Maxwell.
