Danny Bailey Aug. 31, 1934 - Sept. 6, 2023 We lost our dad this week, and my mom lost her husband of 67 years. How do you describe a man who was larger than life? He could do anything - he was an artist, a wood turner, a realtor, a fishing lure manufacturer, an entrepreneur, and a seed salesman (back in the day); he could remember every joke he'd ever heard and plan amazing traveling adventures. He was everything -a faithful husband, a generous and loving father and grandfather, a fun-loving and adventurous friend. He loved his family, fishing and traveling the world. He was our dad, and even though we can't believe he's gone, he'll always be with us: in the sculptures and artwork in our homes, in the laughs that bubble up when we remember a story, in our hearts forever. Bon Voyage, Danny Bailey

Rebecca Rallings

Rebecca Rallings

Age - 74

December 10, 2023

"Rebecca Rallings, 74, of Fort Collins, Colorado, died Saturday, November 25, 2023. She was born in South Carolina, the oldest of four children of Bud and Vivian Rallings. As a child she lived and attended school in South Carolina, Florida, and Mississippi before the family settled in Greensboro, North Carolina in 1966. There she graduated from Curry High School in 1968 and from UNC-Greensboro with a degree in Interior Design in 1972. The next year, she married Michael Pawlowski and they shared an adventurous life together. Over the years, she and Michael lived and worked in many places, but their favorites were Alaska and Colorado. They especially appreciated the natural wonders of those states and often hosted friends and family to share in that enjoyment. Rebecca took great pleasure in her career, but in 2000 she was diagnosed with scleroderma, a degenerative autoimmune disease, and soon had to stop working. Her family and friends continued to benefit from her flair for design, though, as she shared her advice freely with them over the years. Though frequently far away, she kept and cultivated closeness in her relationships. She enjoyed shopping both for herself and for others and was a generous and thoughtful gift-giver. . She also had an eye for fashion and was always so well put together that whenever she went out (with every beautiful hair in place!), most people were not aware of her illness. Rebecca had a great love of music and wide-ranging tastes. She and Michael attended many concerts over the years in venues around the country. A gifted pianist, Rebecca eventually lost the ability to play but she continued to express her love of music by singing for several years in the Silvertones Senior Choir and the Sunshine Singers. She was also an avid reader. After Michael died in 2012, Rebecca continued to live independently in spite of increasing physical limitations. She is survived by her three siblings and their families, by numerous in-laws and their families, by many friends who were as dear to her as family, and by Wee, her 15-year-old much-loved kitty. Many thanks to Seniors Helping Seniors in Fort Collins and to Pathways Hospice for their compassionate care of Rebecca over the last few months. Memorial contributions can be made to the National Scleroderma Foundation (scleroderma. org), the National Park Foundation (nationalparks. org), Pathways Hospice (pathways-care. org) or to the charity of your choice. William Hancock

William Hancock

Age - 77

December 10, 2023

"William Robert Hancock passed away 25 November 2023, at Medical Center of the Rockies, Loveland, Colorado. To those who knew and loved him, he was better known as Bill, Sweetie, Dad, and Pops. Bill was born on 13 September 1946 in Miami, Dade County, Florida, to William Forest Hancock and Mildred Lucile Colson Hancock. He met and fell in love with Karen Sue Miles while attending Hialeah High School in Hiahleah, Florida. He attended the University of Florida for his undergraduate degree, becoming a life-long Gator fan, and Auburn University for his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine. Bill and Karen married on 2 April 1970 in Auburn, Lee County, Alabama. He loved Karen more than anything and was a devoted, caring, sometimes playfully annoying on purpose, husband for their 53 married years together. They moved to Fort Collins, Colorado in 1972 intending to stay only one year so Bill could do an internship in surgery at Colorado State University. Turns out they loved Colorado, so they decided to stay. Bill opened the Lemay Animal Hospital in 1974 where he practiced as a small animal veterinarian serving countless animals and families until he retired in 2001. Bill did not "sit around and do nothing" well. He was an avid fly fisherman while younger and loved bird hunting. His yard and garden were his pride and joy. To many neighbors over the years, he was known as the "tomato whisperer". He loved cooking and was really good at it! Sure, he tended to cook enough food to feed twice as many people as were expected but that was his way; more is better! Pops was an amazing supportive dad. He never missed any of his kids' activities and set an amazing example to his kids and grandkids how to be a good person and a good parent. If you ever needed help, all you had to do was ask and often you didn't even have to do that. He was always quick to laugh, joke around and lovingly tease those close to him. He is survived, missed and lovingly remembered by his wife, Karen, his daughter, Tyler Lynn Hancock, his son, Wade Russell Hancock, his daughter-in-law, Casey Elizabeth Cash, two grandchildren, Owen Henry Hancock, and Ivey Wren Hancock, all of Fort Collins, Colorado, and his sister, Geraldine Hope Richardson, of Tallahassee, Florida. When he was 6 years old, they moved to Hershey, NE followed by a move to Big Springs, NE where he met the love of his life, Bette Jean Kyes. A story that reflects this love is when Bette had a ruptured appendix at the age of 14 and he spent every available moment at the hospital awaiting her recovery. After graduation from Big Springs Rural High School, Marion farmed in the Big Springs area with his dad and brothers until he was drafted into the Army at the age of 18 as a Mess Sergeant reporting to Camp Hood, TX. He also took care of German POWs. When he returned, he and Bette eloped on Sept 23, 1950 in Kearney, NE. In 1983 Marion and Bette, then empty nesters, moved to Fort Collins. He drove trucks for Hersch Trucking and Western Mobile along with driving a school bus for Poudre School District. He made many friends during this time. McDonald's on Elizabeth St. was a favorite meeting place for he and Bette during their retirement years along with Lamar's on Drake & Shields. He enjoyed golf, playing cards, riding his Harley Davidson Tour Glide Classic, going to Texas as snowbirds with Bette, and spending time with family. Bette suffered from Parkinson's Disease and Marion gave many hours of his life trying to care for her at home until she was placed in skilled nursing in 2015. He loved her and his family fiercely in his own way. In 2021, Marion moved to New Mercer Commons, an assisted living facility in Fort Collins. He loved it there and was well loved by residents and staff alike.
