Daniel Wentling Obituary

Daniel Gerald Wentling, age 61, passed away at home in Port Orford, OR on May 4th 2023, after a six-month battle with Cancer. Daniel was born in Concord, CA on September 13, 1961 to Barbara and Jerry Wentling. Daniel married Lauriel in 1985 and in 1992 their daughter Molly was born. Daniel's career spanned decades working as a Building Contractor. Daniel's 30 years living in Sierra County gave him the love he so enjoyed of the outdoors-mining, snowmobiling, fishing, skiing. The outdoorsman in him led Daniel (and family) to living on his Gold Claim on top of the Yuba Pass for six years which was one of his happiest times and memories. He was quite adventurous and loved traveling throughout the world. Daniel had a passion for helping others and supporting his community, which led him to become a certified EMT and the Fire Chief of Sierraville Volunteer Fire Department. Daniel is survived by his wife, Lauriel, daughter Molly (Andrew Cummings), grandchildren Olivia and William Cummings, mother, four sisters, many nephews and nieces and wonderful friend groups in both Sierra County, CA and Port Orford, OR. His father Jerry passed away in 2016. Daniel's Big Laugh, his Big Smile and his Joy for living life to its fullest will never be forgotten by those he touched. Memorial Service will be held on June 25, 2023 at 2 pm. at the Sierraville Community Church, 424 S. Lincoln St. (Hwy 89) Sierraville, CA.
