Audra Dee Riopelle affectionately known as “Audie” by her family and friends, passed away peacefully on February 18, 2024, at the age of 57, surrounded by her family and loved ones. She was born on November 25, 1966, in Corpus Christi, Tx to George and Diana Kerns.Audra’s journey through life was filled with world travels and visiting many countries that helped to build her love of architecture. She started at Texas A&M University but changed to the University of Texas at Arlington to pursue her love and get a degree in Architectural Design. This also included a summer of study in Italy to learn about all the architecture in Florence and Rome. After college she went to stay with her sister, Katherine, in Washington, DC for the summer and that is where she met her husband and love of her life, Christopher Riopelle. They got married a few years later on the 4th of July 1992. Most of her special occasions in life occurred on or close to a holiday and she always joked that the whole United States was celebrating their anniversary with them and shooting off fireworks. Audra and Christopher went on to have three children, Victoria, Nathan, and Austin. She was an avid supporter of her children’s activities. She was at all of Victoria’s soccer games and went to the Robotic competitions and sporting competitions that Austin and Nathan participated in.She also had a love for teaching and writing. She worked very closely with the Girl Scouts when her daughter was part of a Troupe and when her children got older, she chose to work as a teacher’s aide and then a substitute teacher. She did her best to help all children to be the best that they could be.She had a great love of journaling and would love the hunt for a truly great pen. She was forever documenting her life and the lives of her children and the events that occurred on family vacations to the beach. She also had a wonderful green thumb as she was able to grow multiple beautiful Orchids and Irises along with many other plants.Audra was a loving caring soul that is survived by her husband, Christopher Riopelle, her children, Victoria Riopelle, Austin Riopelle and Nathan (Alicia) DeVrio, her parents, George and Diana Kerns, her sisters Katherine Kerns and Linda (Howard) Buck, and her niece Hope (John) Chesek, and her nephews Peter and Andrew Smith. We would like to invite family and friends to come to Czopek Funeral Directors on Saturday, February 24,2024.  Family and friends from 2-9pm with a funeral service to be held at 4:30pm.Czopek Funeral Directors2157 Oak StreetWyandotte, MI 48192
