Daniel T. Erhard, MD, age 98, of Newtown Square, passed away on August 23, 2023. Born in Scranton, PA, he was the son of the late John F. and Ruth A. (née Hower) Erhard. Dr. Erhard enlisted in the US Navy and became a Corspman during World War II, serving his country honorably. After graduating from Jefferson Medical College, he became the first family practitioner in the town of Levittown in the early 1950’s. He then went on to complete his residency for Anesthesia at Temple University Hospital and finished his career in healthcare at Lankenau Hospital in the Anesthesiology Department. In his pastime, Daniel also loved cooking and playing bridge. Daniel shared a 30 plus year marriage with his first wife, Joan F. (née Ferguson), until her untimely passing in 1985. Together they raised nine children. He was the beloved husband of Carleen E. (née Keers) Erhard for the past 30 years; the loving father and step-father of Stephen Erhard (Diane), Frank Erhard (Donna), Beth Holden, (Carl), David Erhard, Michael Erhard (Lynn), Joanne Erhard, Tricia Quarles, Robert Artman (Beth Matlowski), Karen (Artman) Murphy (Robert), and Kerri (Artman) Gerhart. He was the proud grandfather of Katherine Swann (Ato), Kristin Hansen (Dave), Kyle Erhard (Mindi), Matt Erhard (Angie Engleright), Amy Erhard, Emily Holden, Mason Holden (Madeleine Wood), Daniel Erhard, Alayna Erhard, Sophia Erhard, Eric Erhard, Rehannon Raley, Mick Quarles, Leigh Quarles, Kaelin Quarles, Cole Artman, Robert Artman, Gavin Kushinski, Marissa Matlowski, Carleen (Murphy) Alierdi, Rylan Murphy, Colby Gerhart and Olivia Gerhart. He was the caring great-grandfather of Olivia Swann, Eliza Swann, Steven-Jacob Swann, Ford Hansen, Brody Hansen, Layliana Erhard, Lennon Erhard, Calvin Erhard, Lola Erhard, Kalliope Nilles, Jake Alierdi and Lilly Alierdi. Dr. Erhard is also survived by his daughter-in-law, Sue Erhard. He is predeceased by his daughter, Karen, son, Tom, his brothers, John and Robert Erhard. Services and interment will be held privately. Margaret M. Judge, "Greta" (nee Brady), age 86, passed away suddenly on November 20, 2023. Greta was born and raised in County Cavan, Ireland. She arrived in Manhattan, New York in 1957 at the young age of 20. After a short time in New York, she settled in Philadelphia to be closer to family and where Greta met and married, John Patrick Judge. She and John were married for over 52 years until his death in 2018. She is survived by her two daughters, Nancy Judge and Eileen Crossan (Patrick). She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren: Ciara Crossan and Keelan Crossan. Greta was predeceased by her brothers: John Joe Brady and Brendan Brady and her sister Helen Moran. She is survived by her sisters: Vera O'Reilly and Bridie Stubbs and her brother, Thomas Brady. Deborah Nelson

Deborah Janet Glaser Kemler Nelson, 77, a longtime resident of Swarthmore, PA who recently moved to White Horse Village in Newtown Square, passed away on November 13, 2023. Born in Boston, MA in 1945, she was the daughter of the late Maurice S. and Frances R. (née Lappin) Glaser. She was a 1963 graduate of Newton South High School, a 1967 Summa Cum Laude graduate of Pembroke College, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree, and a 1972 graduate of Brown University where she earned her Doctorate of Philosophy in Psychology. She was additionally granted an honorary Doctorate by the University of Richmond in 2006. Deborah was Emeritus Professor of Developmental Psychology at Swarthmore College and Centennial Chair Emerita. She was a prominent, well published researcher in child development and cognition, a mentor to many, and served on countless professional committees and editorial boards. She was awarded numerous fellowships, and was a member of the American Association of University of Professors, the Jean Piaget Society, Sigma Xi, the Society for Research in Child Development, the American Association of University Women, and the American Psychological Society. She was a puzzle enthusiast, with an astounding knack for crosswords. She was always well informed, clear with her voice, and a skilled writer. She enjoyed novels, the arts, and fine dining. She was a spectator sports fan, and in her younger years she played tennis and sailed. She smiled the most when sitting in conversation with family. Deborah was the beloved wife of Larry A. Nelson; loving mother of Stacey Ferry (Mark), Matthew Nelson (Kendy Radasky) and Jordan Nelson; devoted grandmother of Jack Ferry, Ben Ferry and Eliot Nelson; dear sister of Susan Glaser and the late David Glaser. Joseph Spicer was born on May 20, 1975 and died suddenly at his home on October 31, 2023. He is survived by his mother, Margaret Spicer and his 7 brothers and sisters, and all of his nieces and nephews. Joe loved fishing, hunting, and really loved gambling. But mostly, he loved hanging out with friends and family, playing games and directing some home performances. He left an impact on everyone he met and will be surely missed! Kathleen Whitehead entered into eternal life on October 29, 2023 at the age of 62. Kathleen, fondly nicknamed "Beanie" was the devoted mother of Matthew Sadowy. She was the beloved daughter of William and Agnes Whitehead; the loving sister of Agnes Whitehead, William (Catherine) Whitehead, and Theresa Loar; the beloved aunt of nephews William and Gary Michael Loar; and the niece of Anna Whitehead. Kathleen was born and raised in Philadelphia and attended Most Blessed Sacrament Grade School and West Catholic Girls High School. She worked various jobs including cafeteria worker for the school district in Kensington. She was a kind and gentle soul who use to love going to the casino and watching all types of movies. Michael Mckee

Michael Thomas McKeeJune 14, 1946 - October 20, 2023"A Man You Don't Meet Everyday"Michael Thomas McKee, 77, of Ardmore and formerly of Newtown Square, PA, died Friday, October 20, accompanied by family after an unexpected hospitalization. Born June 14, 1946, in the Oak Lane neighborhood of Philadelphia, he was a son of the late William and Margaret (Malloy) McKee, and brother to the late Bill McKee of Williamstown, NJ. Michael was a graduate of the 1964 class of Monsignor Bonner Catholic High School, and a proud veteran of the US Navy (1966-1969). Upon his honorable discharge, he began a career as an electrician, graduating with a degree from Temple University. He later transitioned to sales and regional sales management for industrial battery suppliers. An accomplished golfer, he was a longtime member of the Paxon Hollow Country Club in Marple Township. Over the course of 40 years, he celebrated four holes-in-one, and won every major tournament hosted by the club, including the Club Championship (1986), the President's Cup (1990s), and the Bob Kelleher Memorial. After a challenging recovery from a near debilitating injury in 2020, he trained his way back into competitive play, most recently winning the club's 2023 Labor Day tournament as the club's oldest member. He was also active in charity tournaments and events. Ever since his time in the navy, Michael nurtured a life-long affinity for the sea--a sailor to the end. In February 2023, he traveled to Charleston, South Carolina, to revisit his "alma mater," the USS Yorktown, contributing to the Together We Served veterans' oral history project. "To calm my soul, I would stop and reflect: a ship the size of the Yorktown, just a speck in the vast Atlantic," he shared earlier this year. "The sea had a strong draw on me. "Friends, family and acquaintances knew him as the life of the party, and a larger-than-life personality who could win over those he met with memorable stories and a singular mix of charm and playful bravado. He is survived by his son, Michael Patrick; his sister-in-law, Susanne, and his nephews Patrick and Timothy; Ginny, his former wife (married 1972); Eileen, his former companion of 27 years; and countless friends. Walter Kowalek

Walter J. Kowalek, 80, resident of Newtown Square, PA for 38 years, and Ocean City, NJ, for 27 years, passed away peacefully on October 16, 2023. Skip, as he was known by most, was born in Chester, PA, and was the son, and only child, of the late Walter and Dolores (née Egbert) Kowalek, whom were his guiding light their entire lives. Skip was the beloved and devoted husband of Josephine (née Mastronardo) Kowalek for the last 48 years. Neighbors growing up, Josie and Skip knew each other most of their lives and were already like family before they were even married. Skip was Josie’s one and only love. Skip was a true family man, who put the well being of his wife and children before his own. He was the loving father of Lisa Samluk (Joe) and Alexis Kulick (Chris) and proud Pop Pop to Owen (10), Christopher (9), Victoria (7), Brett (6), Emma (5), and Simona (3) - Each of whom had their own special term of endearment. Nothing made Skip happier than spending time with his family and making memories. Skip grew up in Aston, but his fondest memories were spending his summers as a child in Cape May, NJ with his Aunt, which is where his love of being down the shore began. At the age of 18, Skip graduated from Eddystone High School, and was drafted to the US Army 101st Airborne Division, where he served 3 years in Germany as a Paratrooper, completing 35 airborne jumps. It was there that his love for German cars originated. Upon arriving home, Skip returned to his employment at Scott Paper (Kimberly-Clark), where he was loyally employed for 49 years, and formed life-long friendships that continued long after retirement. He cherished his time spent with old colleagues during coffee club and lunches. He especially adored his time spent at his home in Ocean City, NJ. During the day, he could be seen sitting in his favorite spot on the porch looking out at the ocean, cuddling with his grandkids, riding his bike on the boardwalk, and watching his grandchildren play by the ocean. In the evenings he enjoyed having conversations with his daughters and son-in-laws. For several decades, Skip enjoyed spending time with his friends and father hunting and fishing at their cabin in the Poconos. He always took great pride in his homes, working hard to maintain them. He was also an astute Real Estate investor throughout his lifetime owning and renting land and properties in the Poconos, PA; North Wildwood, NJ; Cherry Hill, NJ; Brookhaven, PA; Alexandria, VA; and Ocean City. Skip was loved by all for his warm demeanor and consideration of others. You would often find him doing favors for friends, taking the time to talk to a neighbor, and bringing joy to others. Even in his final moments, Skip’s kindness and gratitude were felt by those who were with him. Skip’s memory will live on forever in the hearts of everyone who knew him.
