Daniel J Gallagher passed away peacefully on Friday September 1st, 2023 at The Hospice of Sacred Heart in Dunmore, Pa. Dan was born to Patrick and Mary Gallagher on November 14th, 1939 in the Bronx, NY and was one of four children. Dan married Barbara Hoffman in 1964 and has two children (Daniel Gallagher and Eileen Fritz) Dan was a CPA, and had a long/successful career in accounting at several major hospitals in NY and NJ until retirement. Dan's hobbies included, the Hideout, walking, jokes, reading, crossword puzzles, music, talking, wine and CNBC. His legacy includes watching both his children and four grandchildren all graduate from college. He is survived by his son Daniel, daughter in law Rosemary, daughter Eileen Fritz and his son in law Dave. Siblings: Edward Gallagher, sister in law Eileen Gallagher, and brother in law Bernard Tippel. Grandchildren: Daniel, Sean, Timmy and Brian. Nieces and nephews (Maureen, Brian, Trish, Terry, John and Courtney). He is preceded in death by his wife Barbara, sisters Patricia Tippel and Kay McDermott and parents Patrick and Mary. In honor of his death, a celebration will be held on October 14th 2023 at Morello Funeral Home from 10 am-12:00 pm in Easton, Pa 18045. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a beloved wife, mother, and "Cici", who left us far too soon. Colleen Van Natta, 65, of Forks Township, formerly of Bethlehem, passed away Tuesday, November 28th, 2023, at her home. Born August 19th, 1958, in Easton, PA, she was the daughter of the late E. J. and Regina (Boyle) O'Brien. Colleen graduated from Notre Dame High School and Lycoming College. She and her husband, Jeffrey Van Natta celebrated their 11th wedding anniversary on October 13th, 2023. She was a member of Northampton Country Club, NEA, and NJEA. Colleen's passion for the arts was evident from an early age. As a retired music teacher of 37 years from the Greenwich Township School District, she not only imparted knowledge but also inspired countless students with her love for music. Her dedication to nurturing young talents left an indelible mark on the hearts of those she taught. Colleen's love for musical theatre and singing brought joy to everyone around her. Her melodious voice echoed the beauty of her soul, creating cherished memories that will forever resonate with those fortunate enough to have shared in her love for music. Beyond her teaching and musical passions, Colleen's family was at the center of her world. A devoted mother and grandmother, she cherished the moments spent with her loved ones, especially her grandsons, Grayson and Beckham. As we mourn the loss of this extraordinary woman, let us remember Colleen for the joy she brought into our lives, the music she shared, and the love that will forever remain in our hearts. Colleen is survived by her husband Jeffrey, her son Erich, her daughter in law, Tatiana, her beloved grandsons, Grayson and Beckham, her two stepchildren, Christopher and Lauren, and her brother Jim and his family. Matthew Dees, 64, a resident of West Easton, passed away Monday, November 20, 2023, at his home. He is best remembered for his service to the community of West Easton Borough where he served as Council President 2020-2022, and State Constable 2022-2023. In 2022 he accepted the position of Council Pro Temp and served on various committees through the years. He built the website for the borough in 2016 seeing the need to provide an Internet presence, he wanted to provide residents access to basic public borough information more easily. Among the websites/blogs he built for private individuals over the years, he also created Glendon Borough's website. In 2021 Matthew won the first election for a West Easton Borough 2-year Council seat that began in 2016. He was re-elected to a 4-year seat that began in 2018 and again, for another 4-year term beginning in 2022. Outside his positions held in West Easton government, he also served on the Executive Board of his Union, TWU Local 282. His occupation included being a Colonial I. U. 20 driver for special need students, a website builder and entrepreneur. Matthew authored the relationship book, The Aphrodite Apocalypse, and wrote articles/blogs on topics of interest including collecting nostalgia items, food, the art of coffee and politics. Born February 25, 1959 at Muhlenberg Hospital, Plainfield, NJ; he was raised in Watchung, N. J. attending Watchung Hills Regional High School, then later relocated to Nevada attending Boulder City High School. An Honorable Veteran of the US Navy (1977-1982) of the Pacific Submarine Fleet, he served as a MT-3311 Missile Technician. His favorite Navy experience was when comedian Don Rickles, brought him on stage to participate in his Las Vegas act. Rickles sent complimentary champagne, picked up the tab, invited Matthew back stage, and gave him an autographed photo to bring back to his mates, which made the Boulder City News. A transplant from Nevada, Matthew moved to Pennsylvania in 1992. He purchased his West Easton home in 2012 and was an avid gardener, canning, pickling and creating tasty salsas. His appreciation for the outdoors included fishing, hunting and camping. Matthew received the Northampton County Outstanding Veteran Award in 2022. He was preceded in death by his parents, R. Q. (Arr Cue) Dees of Arkabutla, MS, and Teresa (DeLuca) Dees of Las Vegas, NV. Surviving is a his son, Shaun R. Dees, and his wife Sydney, of Arkabutla, MS; two daughters, Teresa Fox and her husband William, of Bangor, PA, and Marie Lynn Rich and her husband Josh, of Sarah, MS; three brothers Wayne T. Dees and his wife Suzanne Hart of Marquette, MI, L. Raymond Dees and his wife Diane, of Sparks, NV, and Daniel A. Thomas, of N. Carolina; two sisters, The Rev. Melanie Dees Campbell, of Marshall, MO, and Bonnie Anne Dees, of Las Vegas, NV; four grandchildren, William and Rilynn Fox, Taylor Bell and Tyler Beth Rich; and a former wife, Janet Dees, of Arkabutla, MS. Wesley E. "Wes" Beers, Sr. , 72, of West Easton, passed away Saturday, November 18, 2023, at his home. Born November 10, 1951, in Easton, PA, he was a son of the late Carl E. and Rose (Johnson) Beers. He and his wife, Elizabeth S. (Tomsky) Beers, celebrated their 19th wedding anniversary on November 4, 2023. Wes was a 1969 graduate of Easton Area High School where he played football and pole vaulted. He served in the Army during the Vietnam War. He was last employed by Home Depot from 1999-2023 working in Whitehall and Palmer Township. Prior to that, he worked at the former Bethlehem Steel for 30 years. Wes was a life member of Safety First Volunteer Fire Company and other various social clubs. He was a proud firefighter and honored for 45 years of dedicated service and commitment to the West Easton Fire Co. No. 1, serving from 1974-2019 and as captain from 1982-1996. Years ago, Wes enjoyed hunting, playing cards, and going to casinos. In addition to his wife, Elizabeth, he is survived by a daughter, Holly Tirrell, of Easton; a son, Wesley E. Beers, Jr. , of West Easton; two brothers, Donald Beers, of Easton, and William Beers and his wife Anna, of Bethlehem Township; five grandchildren, Sasha, Jayde, Emma, Ayden and Owen; a great-granddaughter, Sophia; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Carl C. Beers, Sr. , and a nephew, Joseph M. Beers. Services will be held at 2pm Friday in the Strunk Funeral Home, Inc. , 2101 Northampton St. , Wilson Borugh.
