Mr. Daniel Harvey Dixon, 81 of Patterson, passed away Friday evening, January 25, 2019, at the Memorial Medical Center in Savannah. Born in Patterson, GA on July 23, 1937, he had lived in Pierce County all of his life. Mr. Dixon had worked in construction and farmed all of his life. He loved to fish and hunt and was always helping people when he could. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and brother and will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Mr. Dixon was a member of Offerman Baptist Church where he was in Mr. David Dixon's Sunday school class. He was a son of the late Lewis Griffin & Harriett Martin Dixon. He was also preceded in death by a son, Greg Dixon; and by a brother, Pastor Marshall Dixon. Survivors include his wife, Ernestine Barnard Dixon of Patterson; his daughter and son-in-law, Vickie & Leonard Bateman of Hazlehurst; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ricky & Virginia Dixon and Robert "Bob" & Brenda Dixon all of Patterson; an honorary son, Rev. David (Martha) Wilkins of Screven; a sister, Mary (Floyd) Gill of Patterson; two brothers, Jake (Voncill) Dixon of Blackshear and Tom (Patty) Dixon of Leesburg, FL; a sister-in-law, Evon Dixon of Patterson; 3 grandchildren, Shannon Griffin, Foster (Kristen) Dixon, and Katie (Ethan) Boatright; 5 great grandchildren, Carter Johnson, Mason Dixon, Ben Griffin, Olivia Dixon, and Adalyn Kate Boatright; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Funeral services for Mr. Dixon will be held Sunday afternoon, January 27, 2019, at 4 o'clock from the Offerman Baptist Church. Interment will be in the Mill Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church two hours prior to the service. The family kindly requests Mr. Dixon's "baseball buddies" and his Sunday school class to serve as honorary pallbearers.
