Evie Lou (Staton) Archer, age 85, of Doraville, Georgia On October 8th 2023 passed away from buccal cancer. Mrs Archer was born in Georgia, a daughter of the late Franklin & Viola Staton. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her son, Wayne; 3 sisters Cora Lee Summer, Katherine Fortner, and Louise Whitley; 2 brothers Marshall Staton and JD Staton; grandson Ricky Steele; great granddaughter Destiny Cooper. Mrs Archer had a quiet sense of humor along with her compassion to care for others. With her loving husband of almost 68 years, they raised four children that blossomed into an amazing family of seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Gardening and dogs were enjoyed with her husband as was sitting with her husband cheering on the Atlanta Braves or watching Nascar racing. Her "pretties" in their yard were wind catchers, flowers, and sun catchers:all things which showcased God's splendor and majesty. She had a heart for loving people in general and adopted folks into her life, making them her family as she met them. Holding and playing with babies and children brought such delight to her heart. You could see her happiness with her big smile and in her eyes. They could count on taking home some food or a gift after a visit with her, but she always got the greater blessing out of that. Mrs. Archer was avid about reading the newspaper and working word puzzles was another hobby. Facebook was a big outreach where she was able to shine the Lord's light with her many uplifting comments she was always happy to share. Her love of preparing and sharing meals for family and friends was always important to her, more so after she retired from working in the school lunchroom for many years where many kids were the beneficiaries of her wonderful cooking abilities. Maybe it was because it was a passion and a way to exhibit love for her. Serving and helping others was her 'love language' and she was in full bloom when she could provide acts of service and shine some kindness into someone's life. Her door was usually open to find fresh homemade biscuits on the table and something on the stove. She loved to cook and everyone loved her cooking. She was a member of Concord Missionary Baptist Church and before the years took a physical toll on her she loved going to church to praise and worship God. She loved listening to gospel music as well as old hymns and now she is a part of a heavenly choir where she can sing and praise God singing those very songs. Her survivors include; her beloved husband of 67 years, Virgil Luther Archer of Doraville GA; Her sister, Pauline Page of Statham, GA; Her son Ben (Tracey) of Jefferson GA; Her two daughters Wanda Martin of Winder GA, and Becky Leach (Greg) of Headland, Al; Grandchildren- Jennifer, Genie, Jonathan, Ashley, Luke, Maggie; Great grandchildren- Samiaya, Dujane, Clayt, Payden, Jasmine Faith, Ella Lynn, Ariel, Ava Marie; Great-great grandchild- Salaya; along with many other loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. In accordance with her wishes she is being buried at North Atlanta Memorial Park & Mausoleum in Dunwoody, GA, after services at 11:00 AM on Thursday October 12th at 11:00 AM Crowell Brothers' Funeral Home.
