Dale Hurley Obituary

Dale Lee Hurley, 72, of Smithsburg, MD, passed away Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at Frederick Health Hospital. Born at home on October 14, 1950, in Lantz, MD, he was the son of the late Leaster Hurley, and Loraine (Buhrman) Hurley. Dale worked for 41 years at the C&O Canal doing stone restoration work, that he loved, up until retirement. Everyone that knew him knows how much he enjoyed hunting deer and mushrooms, butchering, gardening, Hobb's Auction, and his family. Dale is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Carol Hurley, son, Eric (Denise), granddaughter, Naomi (Austin), grandsons, Jacob (Mariah), and Luke, great-granddaughter, Hazel, brothers, Anthony (Shirley), Patrick, Tyrone (Lamesha), sisters, Candy (Ernie), Polly, Jeanie, loyal service dog, Yeti, many cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, and special friends, Gordon and Rhonda Conner, Brian and Cheyenne Phillips, and Dave and Bev Cutlip. In addition to his parents, Dale is preceded in death by son, Peter Hurley, Brother, Richard Kemp Hurley, and godson, Pete Warner. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2023, at 11:00 am, at J. L. Davis Funeral Home, 12525 Bradbury Ave, Smithsburg, MD, 21783, officiated by Pastor Andrew Brown. Family will be receiving friends at J. L. Davis Funeral Home, on Friday, May 19, 2023, from 6:00 - 8:00 pm. Internment will be held in the future at the convenience of the family.
