Randal Scott Peterman, 72, of Fayetteville, NC, passed away on Saturday, December 2, 2023, at his residence. Scott was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother with a friendly and kind nature. He was a devoted family man, a proud and patriotic Veteran, and a longtime member of Campground United Methodist Church. Scott was born on May 13, 1951, in Indiana, PA, the eldest child of the late Walter Dale Peterman and Martha Louise Plemons Peterman. The family soon relocated permanently to Sweetwater, TN, where Scott grew up and attended Tennessee Military Institute. He studied at Hiwassee College, then graduated from the University of Tennessee with a bachelor's degree in advertising and later Webster University with a master's degree in marketing. Scott joined the Army in 1976 as an Infantry soldier and attended basic training at Fort Knox. He was stationed in South Korea, where he met the love of his life, Lana, whom he married in 1979. He was later stationed at Fort Ord, California; Fort Benning, Georgia; Fort Jackson, South Carolina; Fort Sheridan, Illinois; Camp Casey, South Korea; and finally at Fort Bragg (now Fort Liberty), North Carolina, where he served as a public affairs liaison with the 82nd Airborne Division and the XVIII Airborne Corps until his retirement as a Major in 1995. After retiring from the military, Scott joined Lana in real estate, and they worked together as a husband-and-wife team at John Koenig Realtors. In 1999, they founded Peterman Realty, where he was currently employed. He had the gift of gab and enjoyed speaking to clients, friends, and people he encountered in his daily life, living up to the phrase "he never met a stranger. " He was an avid reader and he loved to tell stories and make jokes. Scott was fond of traveling with Lana; together they visited Spain, Italy, Greece, France, Costa Rica, Jamaica, the Bahamas, and Mexico. There were numerous future trips remaining on his bucket list. Scott loved spending time with his family- watching football games, playing board games, camping, hiking, and watching his grandchildren grow. Scott is survived by his wife of 44 years, Lana Peterman; daughter, Jessica Louise Peterman of Greensboro; sons, Austin Dale Peterman and wife Megan of Cary, and Joseph Daniel Peterman of Wilmington; siblings, Gary Peterman and wife Karen of Knoxville, Soozi Hise of Chattanooga, and Scobey Peterman and wife Shari of Sweetwater; grandsons, Miles Felix Peterman and Graham Walter Peterman of Cary; and numerous nieces and nephews.
