"SAVANNAH -Mrs. Pearl Washington Jackson was born September 6, 1946, to the parents of the late Mr. Julius C. Washington, Sr. and Mrs. Rosa Lee McCleod Washington in Beaufort, South Carolina. She attended St. Benedict the Moor and was a graduate of St. Pius X High School, Class of 1965. She was a faithful member of Townsley Chapel AME Church. She worked as an Educator and numerous other jobs. The St. Pius X High School Alumni Assoc. sends its greetings and condolences to the family of Pearl Washington Jackson. A fellow student, a lifelong SPX Crusader, and a dear friend to all who knew her. A loving Mother to her children and grands. A strong propionate of education. A faithful servant to her church. We will miss you, Miss Pearl. PEARL is a symbol of perfection, wisdom and spirit. Proof that perseverance, patience, and grace, create such beauty in life\u0027s embrace. What A Lady . . . Ms. Pearl was one of our members at the Moses Jackson Golden Age Center, And she was the same each time you saw her be it Summer or Winter. She always had such a pleasant attitude, regardless of how she was feeling, she always expressed gratitude. Ms. Pearl always stressed the importance of education, she desired to learn, and when she was excited about something it is like you could see her mind turning. She worked diligently with Tina to learn her crochet stitches, for completing her projects was one of her wishes. Ms. Pearl would color beautiful pictures and complete her word games. She also studied hard and participated in the Senior Spelling Bee when the time came. Ms. Pearl always smiled and would tell me to call Diane, if there were craft supplies that she would need, Thank God for a dedicated daughter for she saw about her mom, Ms. Pearl, Indeed! Her greatest joy in life was her family who affectionally called her “Pearlie.” In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Herman Jackson, one son, Kenneth Washington: sisters, Alfreda Haygood, Prophetess Rosa Washington Shellman; brothers, Julius C. Washington, Jr., Charles Washington. Pearlie’s legacy will be etched forever in the hearts and minds of all those who had the privilege of knowing her. Her selflessness, kindness, and devoted love will serve as a guiding light for generations to come. Pearlie leaves to cherish her memories: her daughters, Karen Michelle Daniels, Dione Washington Hicks (Willie), Diane Denise Washington (Donald), all of Savannah, GA; Christina Laverne Williams (Keith) of Conyers, GA; son, Jelani C. Jackson (Tasha); one sister, Paula Brisbane; one brother, Paul Washington; all of Savannah, GA, 24 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, church family and friends."

Daniel Lee Bentley, 66, passed away Friday, February 23, 2024, at St. Joseph’s Hospital after a short illness. He was born October 24, 1957, in Honolulu, Hawaii to Carl Jack Bentley and Janice Spivey Bentley. Daniel served in the U.S. Army, and later went on to work for Davlong Business Solutions, as Director of Operations. He was a member of White Bluff Methodist Church, and active in Bible study groups. Daniel was competitive, and an avid sportsman, playing tennis, enjoying Autocross at Hutchinson Island, shooting skeet at 17 South, and enjoyed his River Street Poker Club. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Danielle Bentley, and his sister, Jackie Lynn Bentley. Daniel is survived by is wife of 24 years, Peggy S. Bentley, his children, Dawn King (Ryan), Daniel C. Bentley, Elizabeth Cudebec (Kyle), and Katherine Womble (Josh), his grandchildren, Braeden King (Aly), Avery Bentley, Graecen King, Kelsey King, Emily Cudebec, Kolton Cudebec, Robbie Loper, Wyatt Womble, and Theo Womble, and his one great-grandson, Kaesen King. Also surviving are his sisters, Shirley Ann Smith, and Tina Johnstone (Scott), his niece, Brooke Ellison, nephews, Scottie Johnstone, and Will Johnstone, many friends, and his Rottweiler, Lucy. A Visitation will be held Thursday, February 29, 2024, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Fox & Weeks, Hodgson Chapel. The Funeral Service will be Friday, March 1, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at White Bluff Methodist Church. A private burial will be held at a later date. Remembrances may be made to the donor’s favorite charity.

She taught in Chatham County Public Schools for 30 years before she retired in 2022. She was a devoted teacher who loved working with her students. She was also a loving mother and wife. She enjoyed reading, her many animals and spending time with her friends and family. She is survived by her husband Tim, and her two children, Lauren and William."

DeeAnna Dannette Cardell Shackelford, 49, of Metter, Georgia, passed away on February 23, 2024, at Memorial Hospital in Savannah, Ga surrounded by her loving family. Born on June 22, 1974, she was the daughter of Danny and Joanna McIntyre Cardell. DeeAnna was a remarkable woman who touched the lives of many. She graduated from Metter High School and went on to earn an associate’s degree from Southeastern Technical College. DeeAnna love her Cedar Street Baptist Church family as well as her New Life Baptist Church family. DeeAnna was very involved at New Life and that is where she fell in love with Eternal Vision singing group. In her free time, DeeAnna enjoyed many hobbies and interests that brought her immense joy. She had a deep love for music and dancing, and she loved using “Alexa” as her personal assistant. You would always see her outside riding around on her golf cart and she was always wanting a diet coke. More than anything she enjoyed going outside and sitting in the warm sun. She was known for her giving nature and her amazing heart. She always put others before herself. She loved being a mother and she was a “bonus mom” to so many. DeeAnna was preceded in death by her son, Eric Shackelford, and aunt, Patty Lanier. She is survived by her daughters, Presley Shackelford and Chelsea Shackelford; sons, Josh Shackelford, Ricky Shackelford, and Roy Shackelford; parents, Danny and Joanna Cardell; sister, Tamara (Jeff) Hutson; niece, Tori (BJ) Long; nephew, Ty Hutson (Abigail Cowart); a great-niece, Harper Long; and bonus children, Dalton Fields, Lily Fields, and Alex (Joni) Calva. Visitation will be held from 1 until 3 o’clock in the afternoon on Monday, February 26, 2024, at New Life Baptist Church in Metter, Ga. The funeral service will follow at 3 o’clock in the afternoon on Monday, February 26, 2024, at New Life Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Lake Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to New Life Baptist Church in Metter, Georgia. The family would like to say a special thanks to her special caregivers Carrie, Amber, and Brie.
