Cynthia Howell Battiste, 67, passed away on September 8, 2023, surrounded by her loving family after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. As we remember Cindy, we are reminded of her unwavering faith in Jesus, boundless love, kindness to all and enduring family legacy. Her late parents, David Wright and Diane Boyne Howell, instilled a strong foundation of "family first" to Cindy at an early age. These values became the bedrock of her own family, a testament to the love and commitment she shared with her husband of 44 years, David Battiste. Cindy was a 1974 graduate of Niskayuna High School. As a senior, she began dating David, her future husband, who was a student at Union College. Cindy then attended Union College earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology in 1978. After college, she began a career in higher education administration at Bay Path Community College in Longmeadow, MA. In 1979, Cindy became the Associate Director of Alumni Affairs at Union College where she made many life-long friends. Cindy and David were married at First Presbyterian Church of Schenectady in 1979 and began their life together in Burnt Hills, NY. In 1981, she began her most important job of all as a mother. The family moved to Rexford in 1987, where their three sons grew up in the Niskayuna School District. Cindy was the ultimate boy mom. She never missed a sporting event or school activity in which the boys participated. She shared her love and kindness with all the families she met. As a busy athletic family, Cindy made sure the boys would gather around the kitchen table after games and practices to share their experiences of the day. Cindy was part of a close-knit family. They created traditions for the holidays, enjoyed pool parties at grandma's house and summer vacations to the beaches in Delaware, New Jersey and Cape Cod. She was the heart and soul of their family, a loving daughter and wife, a nurturing mother and grandmother and the best friend to her siblings. When her youngest son began kindergarten, she began a 17-year career at Craig and Glencliff Elementary Schools as a teacher's aide. Cindy's compassion, kindness and love for children shone through to all the students and school staff. She left an indelible mark on the lives of all, which was a testament to her loving and selfless nature. Following the birth of her first grandchild, Cindy retired from the school and began her most rewarding years of caring for, and spending time with her cherished grandchildren. Every moment with the grandchildren was a gift. Cindy's talents and inherent gifts impacted all those that she encountered. She was a gifted vocalist. She loved singing in the Niskayuna High School and Union College choirs. For the past 45 years, she sang in the First Presbyterian Church choir. She would sing with her sisters at family weddings and baptisms. She enjoyed playing bells in the church Bell Choir. Her elegant calligraphy graced the most beautiful Christ-centered Christmas and birthday cards, wedding invitations, and countless notes of encouragement, condolence and appreciation. Her letters reflected both her artistic flair and her active engagement in the lives of those she loved. She was a beacon of hope, a pillar of strength, a beautiful person inside and out, an inspiration to all who knew her and a vital part of the lives of all who loved her. Survived by her loving husband, David M. Battiste, and her cherished sons, Matthew (Lindsey) Battiste of Charlton, NY, Michael (Joelle) Battiste of Delmar, NY, and Scott (Kayla) Battiste of Charlton, NY; adored grandchildren, Louis, Fiona, Archer, Adeline and Theodore; her beloved siblings, Pamela (Martin) Tentor of Auburn, MA, Timothy (Andrea) Howell of Orleans, MA, and Megan (Scott) Swenson of Saratoga, NY; as well as many loving nieces, nephews and cousins. Lerone Lee

Lerone Lee

Age - 28

November 25, 2023

LeRone Anthony Lee, a vibrant soul born on February 25, 1995, became an angel unexpectedly on November 17, 2023. His life was a melodious symphony of passion, creativity, and selflessness, leaving a mark on the world and those blessed to call him family or friends. LeRone was a beacon of light and energy from an early age, his charismatic presence earned him the affectionate title of "young senator" during his preschool days at Shenendehowa United Methodist Pre-K. By kindergarten, he was already taking life by the reins, asking his mom if he could attend comedy school. His supportive mother, Althea, would do anything for her son and wrote to the theatre school about her son's aspirations. The school wrote back, impressed by the young LeRone's willingness, but he was too young to enroll. As an artistic young man, LeRone took a leap of faith and received the opportunity to work on set of the film "Escape at Dannemora"; it was a memorable experience to work with Ben Stiller. As a 2013 graduate of Shenendehowa High School, he discovered his musical talent, a precious gift passed down from his grandfather, Clement Lee, who was a Professional Saxophonist in the United Kingdom. His musical journey began with the viola in the school orchestra, later transitioning to the drums and bass in the school band. LeRone was an active young man, always up for a new challenge. Throughout his childhood, he received countless badges in Boy Scouts, during his athletic career, he played club soccer and high school football; we can't forget his punk era, where he enjoyed skateboarding. He was baptized at Shenendehowa United Methodist Church and regularly attended service and Sunday school through high school. LeRone made a point to give back to the community, he volunteered for Making Strides and City Mission, both in Albany. Following high school, LeRone continued his educational journey at Hudson Valley and the University at Albany, but his entrepreneurial spirit couldn't be contained within the confines of the classroom. With the conviction that artists don't require a diploma to create, LeRone embarked on his professional journey. He channeled his passion for music into his business, Gxldie London, LLC, a music studio where artists could create with someone who believed in them. As an audio engineer, LeRone was much more than a producer; he was a friend, a confidant, a voice for the voiceless. His influence reverberated through the hip-hop scene in New York and across the country. His name was being shared from California to Atlanta, and the doors he dreamt of as a kid were finally opening. His sudden departure has left a void in the hearts of his artists, who feel as if they have lost their voice with his passing. Despite his professional accomplishments, LeRone was, first and foremost, a family man. He will forever be remembered by his parents, Anthony Lee and Althea Haynes-Lee; his sisters, Loni Lee and Kimesha A. Lee; and his grandparents, Loretta and Othlang Liking. He is also survived by his beloved pets, Luna and Greyson; God parents Clive and Marcia Wright; aunts Andrea Haynes, Jean Nixon, Selma Francis, and Jacqueline Bailey; uncles Dwayne Haynes, Orville Haynes, and Winston Haynes; and dear cousins and friends. He cherished every family occasion, often cooking for them and creating memories around the dinner table. He is predeceased by his grandparents, Clement Lee and Joseph and Susan Haynes. As a person, LeRone was a beacon of positivity with radiant energy touching everyone he encountered. He was the voice of reason you could rely on, the friend who not only told you it was going to be okay but ensured you believed that brighter days were ahead. LeRone Anthony Lee's life was a testament to the power of passion, creativity, and purpose, and LeRone's purpose was helping others reach their potential and find their voice. At the young age of 28, he was already a mentor and role model to more people than many who have outlived their generation. The bittersweet lyric, "Legends die young", strikes the hearts of all who knew him. He lived his life not as a mere existence but as a vibrant melody that continues to echo in the hearts of those he touched. His legacy will forever be a reminder of the incredible power of a life lived with purpose. Family and friends are welcome to Shenenehowa United Methodist Church on Thursday, November 30th, from 10 AM to 1 PM. A Funeral Service will begin at 1 PM officiated by Pastor Lee, service will be streamed live at shenumc. org. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Troy, NY. Memorial contributions can be made to the Community Foundation of the Greater Capital Region at https://cfgcr. fcsuite. com/erp/donate/create/fund?funit_id=1171 in memory of LeRone Lee.Show more
