Schroeder, Curt. Left us far too soon on August 30, 2023 at the age of 70. Loving husband of Susan Scaffidi, Cherished Dad of Alyssandra Scaffidi. Beloved son of Alice Schroeder (nee Anderson) and the late Donald Schroeder. Brother of Roy (Cathy), Daniel (Mary), and the late Charles (Kathy). Brother-in-law of Jane Schneider. Beloved Uncle of Nikki Kallio, Scott (Lee Ann), Vince (Amy), Jason (Nathalie) and the late Erin (Kurt). Also survived by many cousins, other relatives & friends &1000's of paintings. Curt grew up in Brookfield @ a time when it was surrounded by woods & remembers endless childhood days exploring; Bishops Woods was his playground. He was the youngest of 4 boys. Drawing started quite young, one of the first was when he was a little boy during church service when his mom asked him to draw the flowers on the alter. Painting started shortly after, in his teens. Early paintings were of Greenfield park pond. Curt had a keen creative sense & always did things the "Curt way," which was quite unconventional to most, for example, he mended holes in his jeans pockets with electrical tape in addition to his hand sewing, which he was very proud of and he refused to give up his flip phone. He also had a perceptive sense of curiosity that remained throughout his years. He graduated from UW-Milwaukee with an art degree in the mid 70's; art was always his passion. Curt met Susan @ a Laundromat in 1988, & after a year of running into each other, started dating in 1989 & married in 1995. Within a few years, they were immersed in restoring their civil war house. They were blessed with a beautiful daughter, Alyssandra, in 2000. A profound love & devotion was ignited immediately & Curt was super supportive of Alyssandra's interests & passions. Curt continued to be an avid & prolific painter of landscapes, beautiful flowers & sometimes unusual still lifes. One of his favorite painting spots was up north on the River & the train tracks in the industrial parts of Milwaukee. He made sure he never went a week without painting & had a goal of @ least 60 paintings per year, which has added up to thousands. He loved the earth, was never afraid to get dirty & had a passion for perennial & vegetable gardening (so apropos as he was born on the first day of Spring!) He would often sit in the garden just before sunset & enjoy the harvest (and sometimes the beautiful neighborhood fox). He loved watching movies, old & new, classics & westerns & loved the movie trivia challenges. Among his favorites: Casablanca & Notorius. He loved his neighborhood of Bay View, was a fan of the South Shore farmers market (always looking forward to the apple cider) & the summer concert series @ Chill on the Hill where we enjoyed the company of friends. He loved spending time in his wild yard & on the front porch @ the end of the day. We don't know many people who love growing old. Curt always said he never minded the aging process, he didn't mind growing old, he knew that he'd never wanted to go back and be young again, he respected the cycle of life and looked forward to meeting the challenges and taking on the perspectives that came with the passing of time. We envision that Curt will continue his creative endeavors throughout his new timeless journey. R. I. P. dear Curt[?]Celebration of life is pending.
