Cathy S. Sims, 62, of Sullivan, Indiana, passed from this life, with her family by her side, on Monday, November 20, 2023 at Terre Haute Regional Hospital. She was born on July 29, 1961 in Sullivan to Delbert Max and Margaret Ruth (Shields) Sims. Cathy worked at the Light House Restaurant, Country Kitchen, Pizza Den and was an LPN at Glenburn Nursing Home. She also owned and operated an at-home business 'Affordable Weddings and Cakes'. Cathy enjoyed collecting black and white cows, painting ceramics, crocheting and especially spending time with her grandchildren. Family left to cherish the memories of Cathy include: sons, James (DeAnna) Greenwood of Evansville and Roger (Kaylee) Greenwood of Linton; daughters, Kaki Coleman of Indianapolis and Laura Greenwood of Lyons; grandchildren, Jaden, Samara, Harlee, Stephen, Lyndsay, Zacharey, Abbigayl, Jeffreya, Max, Jaxon and one due in April; great-grandson, Paxton Coleman; sister, Lovena Heaton; brothers, Jerry Sims and Darwin (Carol) Sims. Cathy was preceded in death by her parents; best friend and father of her children, Jeff S. Greenwood; brother, Terry Sims and son-in-law, Chad Coleman. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at Anderson-Poindexter Chapel in Linton. Cathy will be laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery in Linton. Family and friends may call from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Monday, November 27 and from 9:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM on Tuesday at the funeral home. William "Bill" Lee Springer, 68, of Sullivan, Indiana passed away on Monday, November 13, 2023, at The Waters of Sullivan. He was born on October 24, 1955, in Sullivan, Indiana the son of Gene Edward Springer and Rosemarie Robinson Springer Brown. Bill graduated from Indiana State University with a bachelor's degree in political science. He retired from the Indiana Department of Transportation. Bill was a member of the VFW Post #2459, American Legion Post #139, Sullivan I. O. O. F. #147, and served many years as Republican County Chairman for Sullivan County. He served as electoral college delegate alternate for President George W. Bush and delegate for Donald J. Trump. He attended the Republican national convention in 2016 as well as the inauguration of Donald J. Trump the following January. Among other awards he was most proud of his acknowledgment by Mike Pence as a Sagamore of the Wabash, Indiana's highest recognition for distinguished Hoosiers, and most recently in August of this year was awarded Honorary Secretary of State by Indiana Secretary of State Diego Morales. Bill is preceded in death by his father and two brothers: Gene "Chickie" Springer and Dean Springer. Survivors include his loving wife of 45 years, Rita Stahl Springer, two sons; Will (Jessica) Springer of Sullivan and Gene Springer of Sullivan, Indiana, mother, Rosemarie Brown of Sullivan, Indiana and two sisters; Gretchen (Hal) Pitts of Sullivan, Indiana and Deborah (Roman) Springer Eble of Winnsboro, Texas. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM Saturday, November 18, 2023, at Brust Funeral Home in Sullivan, Indiana with Rev. David Cox officiating. Interment will follow in Center Ridge Cemetery in Sullivan, Indiana. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday, November 17, 2023, at Brust Funeral Home. Bill spent his adult life ensuring children never went without. He was dedicated to service in the form of the annual I. O. O. F. Easter Egg Hunt, Halloween Parade, and other various events. Christy Dawn Drane A beloved daughter, sister, mother, niece, cousin, and friend gained her angels wings far too soon, at 43, on November 6, 2023, at 12:43 AM at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana. Born in Moberly, MO on March 12, 1980, to Edward L. Drane and Patricia R. Wolfe. Christy attended Sullivan Elementary and High School. She lived with her longtime friend and love of 23 years Thane Boles in Sullivan. She was a beloved mother to Tyler Lee Drane (Mackenzie) of Sullivan, Kyra Rose Sparks (Colten) of Terre Haute and Gracie Marie Boles of Sullivan and a proud grandmother of a granddaughter, Lillith Rose Richardson, Christy is also survived by her mother Patricia Wolfe of Sullivan, mother-in-law Vicky Boles of Sullivan, two brothers Brad Riggle (Jill) of Sullivan and Shane Mason (Jessica) of Sullivan, two nieces Shayna Bays (Cody) of Hymera and Sierra Mason (Coby Branam) of Terre Haute and three special aunts that she loved very much and many cousins. Christy was a person that was stubborn yet had a free-spirited personality she loved being silly and always had everyone in the room laughing. She was known for her extensive vocabulary it was more than proficient at knowing more curse words than most people learned in a lifetime. "NO SHIT" being a personal favorite of hers. Everyone also knew where they stood with Christy, she either liked you or she didn't there was no black or white. She was fiercely loyal to family and friends especially three special friends Brandi Wheeler, Jana Schwibbe and Michelle Abrams. When you think of Christy, celebrate the good memories you have of her. Remember that life is fragile, short and should be lived to its fullest. "Stubbornness' and whiskey do kill!" was quote said by Christy on 10-28-2023. Christy will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Forrest Wayne Metcalf, 75, of Sullivan, Indiana passed away on Monday, October 23, 2023, at his residence with his family by his side. He was born on March 5, 1948, in Sullivan, Indiana the son of William Roy Metcalf and Margaret Davis Metcalf. Forrest graduated from Sullivan High School in 1967. He was a veteran of the US Navy and worked at CSX Railroad as an engineer. Forrest was a member of the Sullivan BPO Elks Lodge 911. He enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting and being outdoors. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Marion Dale Metcalf, infant brother, Billy Metcalf, sister, Eva Metcalf, brother-in-law, Al Jackson and three grandsons: Daniel, Josh and Dillion. Survivors include his loving wife, Jean Deakins Metcalf, six sons; Eric Metcalf, Billy Metcalf, Bob Metcalf, Justin Metcalf, Chris Jenkins and Craig Jenkins, one daughter, Christen Arnold (Andy), sister, Marlyn Jackson, one sister-in-law, Diane Metcalf, grandchildren; Brennon, Caleb, Gideon, David, Alex, Daphnie, Gage, Jordan, Kaitlynn, Tessa, Will, Blaine, Christopher, Jonathan, Gavin, Taylor and Bryce and thirteen great-grandchildren. Debbie Robbins, of Sullivan, Indiana, entered eternal rest at 9 p. m. on Saturday, October 14. After a tough battle with cancer, she passed away peacefully at her "beautiful" house. Debbie was a devoted wife, mom, grandmother, aunt, sister, and many other unofficial titles. She is survived by her brotherRonald (Ann) Shorter of Sullivan, Beverly (Lee deceased) Coulson of Sullivan, and Vicki (Ben) Springer of Sullivan. Debbie married Gary (Joe) Robbins December 5, 1975, together they had three beautiful children, Amber (John) Elwood of Columbus, IN, Natalie (Jared) Tatum of Brazil, IN, and Ryan (Tasha) Robbins of Sullivan, IN, all of whom survive. Debbie also has six grandchildren who were the love of her life, Josie Leigh, Hudson Andrew, Slader Jonathon, Bristol Lee, and the tater-tots Vance Joseph, and Bella Lavon. Debbie was a 1974 graduate of Sullivan High School. After high school, she found her calling in the healthcare industry rehabilitating patients back to health in the physical therapy department. She enjoyed spending time with her extensive family in Sullivan. She especially enjoyed attending all of the different sporting events and dance recitals of all of her many nieces, nephews and cousins. She also took huge pride bragging on her adult children and most certainly the grandbabies. Affectionately known as "mamaw", she could brighten a room instantaneously with a warm smile, kind word, infectious laugh or, just her warm presence. Debbie was a member of the United Methodist Church of New Lebanon. She was always among the first to volunteer whenever the congregation had a need. She was the person you could call any time of day and she always answered the call. She made everything and everyone better just by virtue of her glowing personality. She would light up any room simply with her positive personality. She maintained her keen sense of humor until the very end. Debbie was a strong Christian filled woman, and never doubted her faith. She is finally "home. " Debbie is preceded in death by her parents Victor and Esther Shorter, her brothers Jerry, Rex, Mike, nephew Victor, niece Susan, and nephew Brad. Debbie's celebration of life will be held at 11 a. m. Friday, October 20 at the United Methodist Church of New Lebanon. Family and friends may gather for a time of visitation at Holmes Funeral Home in Sullivan, IN from 4-7 p. m. Thursday, October 19.
