A Memorial Celebration of Life Service for Coy Julian Alford, 85, will be Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at 10:00AM at Ridout's Gardendale Chapel, 2029 Decatur Highway, Gardendale, with Rev. Johnny Robertson officiating. Mr. Alford will be laid to rest in Oakwood Memorial Gardens, 2100 Moncrief Road, Gardendale. Visitation will be Monday, September 11, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 7:00PM at Walkers Chapel Baptist Church, 1525 Briscoe Street, Fultondale, AL. Julian passed away on Friday, September 8, 2023 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born September 17, 1937 in Morgan County, to Coy and Jamie Holmes Alford. Julian was a graduate of Falkville High School. He was co-owner of Russell and Alford, prior to his retirement. He was a long time member of Walkers Chapel Baptist Church where he was a Deacon, Sunday school teacher, and incredibly valued member. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, softball, and spending time with his family. Julian was preceded in death by his parents, Coy and Jamie Alford; brothers, Cecil Alford (Voncille), Otis Alford, Bobby Alford (Clovis), and Jerry Alford; brother-in-law, Mac Golson. He is survived by his wife of 63 years Frances Jean Alford; his brother Roy Alford (Ann), his sisters Linda Turney (Don), Dot Golson, Ann Bobelak (Jim); his sister-in-law Sharon Alford; his daughter Rene Alford Patterson (Mark), and son Randy Alford (Susan); his grandchildren Caitlin Patterson (Dempsey), Nicole Patterson Hooper (Matt), Seth Alford (Lauren), and Alex Alford; his great grandson Henry Hooper and a great granddaughter arriving in October. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to Metro Changers in care of Birmingham Baptist Association or Michael J Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research

Margaret L. Holmes, age 95, of Gardendale, Alabama passed away on Tuesday, November 28, 2023. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Ruby Eidson; husband, Dolphus Holmes; brothers, Billy and Bobby Eidson and by sisters, Betty Harbison, Merelene Abbott and Ann Eidson. Survivors include her daughters, Sheila Tate (David), Nancy Breitenstein (Terry) and Kim Chapman (Mike); sister, Virginia Ledbetter; sister-in-law, Theresa Holmes, Shirley Eidson Coad; grandchildren, Matthew Breitenstein (Brittany), Meredith Breitenstein, Corbitt Tate (Heather), Steven Tate (Caroline), Daniel Chapman (Jamie) and Clayton Chapman; great grandchildren, Noah Breitenstein, Olivia Breitenstein, Luke Breitenstein, Finley Tate, Hudson Tate, Cobb Tate and Ada Tate. She is survived by many nieces and nephews who loved her very much. Mrs. Holmes was a long time member of Beechwood Baptist Church and most recently a faithful member of East Gardendale Baptist Church. The family would like to express their gratitude to caregivers, who became special family, Melissa Stephens, Gail Griffin and Linda Dendy and to the staff of ProHealth Hospice, especially Beverly Wilson and Falicia McLaughlin for their outstanding care provided. They also want to express a special thanks to Dr. Ben Jones and Dr. Monica Riggins for their care, leadership and guidance through this difficult journey. A visitation for Margaret will be held Sunday, December 3, 2023 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Ridout's Gardendale Chapel, 2029 Decatur Highway, Gardendale, AL 35071. Dennis Floyd Sharp, age 76 of Gardendale, Alabama passed away on Monday, November 13th, 2023. He was born to the late Floyd and Louise Sharp of Warrior, Alabama on January 8th, 1947. Dennis proudly served his country in the United States Army during Vietnam. He retired from Pemco after many years of service as a sheet metal fabricator and served as the President of the UAW for 6 years. Dennis loved the outdoors and sharing hunting, fishing, and gardening time with his sons and grandchildren. When he would take a trip to the beach he enjoyed eating as much seafood as he could. He is proceeded in death by his father Floyd L. Sharp; his mother Louise Gardner; and his wife of 45 years, Linda Sharp. Dennis is survived by his loving wife of 5 years, Rose Sharp; his sons, Steven Sharp and Brian Sharp; his stepdaughters, Kathy Snider and Sonya Perkins (Brian); his brothers, Terry Sharp (Cathy), Jerry Sharp, and Melvin Sharp (Lisa); his grandchildren, Hunter Sharp (Tabetha), Dillon Sharp (Carman), Kyden Sharp, Katelyn Sharp, Amber Perkins, Laura Carr (Donnie), Katie Davis (Justin); his great grandchildren; Blake, Waylon, Baby Boy on the way, Emma, Aniyah, Micah, and Jensen; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended relatives. The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 16th, 2023 from 10:00 to 11:00 am at Ridout's Gardendale Chapel. Carlie Ann Malone was born on Friday, September 15, 2023 and blessed us with her presence until she passed on Tuesday, October 3, 2023. Carlie brought joy and endless smiles to all of her family that loved her dearly. With a head full of dark hair, sweet button nose, and the perfect mix of Momma and Daddy she is the most beautiful baby girl. She is preceded in death by her great grandparents, Carl and Betty Malone, Bobby R. Homer D. McCullar, age 91, of Gardendale, Alabama passed away on Friday, September 29, 2023 at 6:00 AM at UAB Highlands Hospital. Homer graduated from Corner High School and then he proudly served our country in the United States Navy. After his service he married the love of his life, Rosalie Cantavespre McCullar in 1960. He had a long career and worked primarily as a loan officer. In retirement he owned a Hot Dog business in Ensley, Alabama. He cherished his wife and family more than anything and loved spending time with them. He enjoyed watching and attending sporting events especially the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Atlanta Braves. Homer "Mack" lived the last year at Covenant Place in Gardendale, Alabama, a place he enjoyed so much. He loved the staff and considered them part of his family. Homer was preceded in death by his parents, Richard McCullar and Lillie McAnnally, his loving wife, Rosalie C. McCullar, siblings, Mac McCullar, Al McCullar, Dean Parker, Sylvia DuPont, and Frances McCullar; two grandchildren, Zach Thomas and Katie Busby. Homer is survived by his daughters, Elizabeth Busby and Susan Morgan; one sister, Faye King; grandchildren, Andrew Busby, Jennifer Thomas, and Brett Thomas; one great-granddaughter, Haddy Thomas and numerous nieces and nephews. A visitation for Homer will be held Monday, October 2, 2023 from 10:30 AM to 11:45 AM at Ridout's Gardendale Chapel, 2029 Decatur Highway, Gardendale, AL 35071 in the Fireside Room.
