Blanche Marie (Schlueter) Rhodes, the wife of Ronald Davis Rhodes and mother to Chris Alan Rhodes, Shari Jean (Rhodes) Noonan (Allan B. Noonan, Jr.), and Kelly Anne (Rhodes) Ellebracht (Jason Ossie Ellebracht), passed away on February 22, 2024, after suffering a massive stroke on February 8, 2024. Known for her wit and strong will, Blanche will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Blanche’s family asks that she be remembered for the joy she brought to others in life, not the sadness of her passing. She is survived by her beloved husband, Ronald Davis Rhodes, and her two daughters, Shari and Kelly, her grandchildren Steven Matthew Dudney (Yustine Saptarini Jamari), Brian Todd Dudney, Roan Kana Hager, Jinger Olivia Ellebracht, and Jaron Ossie Ellebracht, and her great-granddaughter Alice Myra Dudney, as well as many cherished sisters-in law, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by all of her six siblings: Allen Francis Schlueter, Dennis Lee Schlueter, Darrel Henry Schlueter, Kenrick “Butch” Edgar Schlueter, Karen Ann (Schlueter) Taylor, and Robert Earl Schlueter her mother, Theresa (Novian) Schlueter; and her son, Chris. Blanche was an unforgettable person who held many professional titles throughout her career (Transcriptionist, Mary Kay Director, Tupperware Director, Director of 2 Court Reporting Schools, Director of Transcription School), personal ones (PTA President, Blue Bird Leader, Baseball Team Mom, Drill Team Mom), and volunteer roles (President of Compassionate Friends, President of the Austin/Travis County Foster Parents). But her favorite and most memorable titles were Wife (February 8, 1963), Mother, Granny, and Great-Grandma. She was born on July 28, 1942, in San Antonio, Texas, and was raised in Fredericksburg, Texas, graduating from St. Mary’s Catholic High School in Fredericksburg and Nixon Clay Business College in Houston. A celebration of life will be held at St Mary’s Catholic Church in Fredericksburg, Texas on Thursday, February 29, 2024 at 11:30 am and the family will receive friends there beginning at 10:30 am all followed by lunch and reception in the church activity center at Noon. Andy passed in his sleep early Thursday February 22, 2024, from natural causes. He lived a full life and will be missed greatly by his family, friends, coworkers, and all that were fortunate to have met him.Andrew L. Meyer was born in Lake Charles Louisiana. He attended Lake Charles High School and graduated from Landry Memorial. At an early age, he was fascinated by aircraft and gained a keen interest in aviation. As a young man in Lake Charles, he managed to hop a ride in an open cockpit biplane trainer and the natural sequence of events found Andy entering the Airforce in July 1949. He was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant and began his pilot career. He flew aircraft such as the T-6 advanced trainer, B-25 twin engine bomber, the B-17 bomber, the RB-29 and the RB-50. His tour of duty was with the 55TH Strategic Reconnaissance Wing stationed out of Barksdale Airforce base near Shreveport Louisiana. It was at this station that Andy met is wife, of 73 years, Marjorie Montgomery. Andy and Marjorie were married in January of 1951. Tour of duty took Andy to different hemispheres of the globe. He was stationed in Louisiana, Kansas, Puerto Rico, Hawaii, Alaska, Japan, England, and Germany. After several years of service, Andy separated from the Airforce and began family life, initially in Lake Charles and then moved to Shreveport and finally to Austin Texas.Andy and Marjorie settled in Austin and raised a family of three boys and one girl. As a father and husband, he was a disciplined provider, loving companion and good buddy. He and the family enjoyed outdoor activities such as camping, boating, fishing, hunting and of course attending the local airshows. He was a “Longhorn” fan and followed the “Cowboys”. He coached his boys in little league baseball and attended their track meets and football games as well. Andy maintained a large collection of aviation history books and spent countless hours building aircraft models with his boys and explain the physics of flight.Andy’s professional career saw him work for 38 years at Graybar Electrical, a nationally known top tier electrical solutions and component supply company. During his career with Graybar, he worked in both sales and warehouse supply. Coworkers remember him as a terrific leader in the office as he spent countless hours helping the newer employees with product knowledge and patiently explaining the proper ways to handle business. He was a great mentor and a great friend.Andy was an Airforce and aviation historian. He sought out and found other Airforce pilots and related associations around the country. He became a goodfellow of the “Quiet Birdmen” and a member of the “Order of Daedalians”. He and Marjorie would travel to various cities and towns within Texas and around the U.S. to participate in Airforce pilot reunions. Andy was known as one of the communicators that kept the ties between the retired airmen.Andy is survived by his wife Marjorie, his sons Kirk, Karl, Steven, and daughter Kathy. He has several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His sister Florence lives in Lake Charles and has many children and grand kids, and all have been part of Andy’s wonderful life.Visitation 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at Beck Funeral Home, 15709 Ranch Road 620, Austin, TX 78719 with Funeral Service to begin at 2:00 pm. We regretfully announce the passing of Yolanda Castro-Rodriguez of Austin, Texas on February 18th, 2024.Yolanda was born in Austin, Texas on November 6th, 1962, and was raised by her parents Jaime and Leonor. She was the oldest sister to Jaime Jr., Timothy (spouse Heather), and Georgina (spouse Jose). As a teenager, she attended William B. Travis High School, where she discovered a passion for nursing and giving support to those who needed it most. Yolanda spent the next phase of her life as a registered nurse, focusing on hospice care and senior home care. Alongside her career, Yolanda became an amazing mother, raising her two sons Babak Ghiassi and Gary Wayne Anderson. She was blessed with two grandsons, Elijah Wayne Anderson and Brandon Sosa.Yolanda was an absolute firecracker of a person, always living life to the fullest. She enjoyed driving fast cars, always matching her outfit with accessories, and most of all, gifting her time and presence to family. From childhood, she gave herself to the Lord and was the anchor her friends and family needed most when life became difficult. As she grew older, Yolanda never stopped being a caregiver, and she found her home alongside her sons in Del Valle where she helped raise her grandsons. She was a loving daughter, sister, mother, and grandmother. We will miss her beyond what words can describe.Yolanda was preceded in death by her mother Leonor, and is survived by her sons Babak and Gary Wayne, her father Jaime, her siblings Jaime Jr., Timothy, and Georgina, her grandsons Elijah and Brandon, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who love her all very much.The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Thursday, February 29, 2024, at Harrell Funeral Home of Austin.A Celebration of life will be held at 2:00 pm in the Harrell Funeral Home Chapel. A reception for family and friends will follow.
