TROY Constance A. (Film) Phillips, 77, of Brunswick Park Dr. passed away Wednesday October 4, 2023 at Albany Medical Center with her 3 sons by her side. Born in Troy she was the daughter of the late James B. and Helen Carney Rysedorph. She was a 1963 graduate of Heatly High School. Connie had retired from the Rensselaer County Sheriff's Office after over 20 years of service. Earlier in her career she was employed by the Brittonkill Central School District. She was a foster mother for many children and countless others who called her "mom". Her favorite thing in life was spending time with her family. Connie was the widow of Raymond L. Phillips who died in 2015. She is survived by her children, William J. Film (Stacy) of Brunswick, Corey J. Film (Kristen) of Pittstown, Scott C. Film (Debra) of Poestenkill. She is the step mother of Raymond Phillips (Kelly) of Johnsonville, Matthew Phillips (Christy) of Valley Falls, Heath Phillips of Pittstown, Glenn Phillips (Jane) of Cropseyville, Jennifer Madsen (Rick) of East Greenbush and Jayson Phillips (Leah) of Hudson. She is the sister of Pat Rysedorph of Malta and the late Judith Cusack. She is the proud grandmother of Allie, Adam, Kara, Emily, Haley, Catrina, Cassidy, Abigail and Sarah. She is predeceased by her granddaughter, Amanda and two of her foster children, Rachael and Donnie. Several nieces and nephews also survive as well as her lifelong friends Midge, Patti and Kathy and her beloved cats Smooch and Smudge. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 10 am at Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, 133 Broad St. (Rte. 32), Waterford. Interment will be in St John's Cemetery, Troy. Relatives and friends may visit at the funeral home on Monday from 3-7 pm.

ALBANY Gina Marie Cannistraro, 45, passed away peacefully Friday, December 1, 2023 with her loving parents by her side. Gina showed amazing grace, strength and positivity at the end of her life. She was a light for us all. Gina was born in Brooklyn on June 23, 1978 to Al and Margaret "Peggy" Boyce Cannistraro. She graduated from Shenendehowa High School in 1996 and received her Bachelor's Degree in anthropology from UMASS Amherst in 2000. While in college she was a coxswain on the crew team and also enjoyed working on the United Press at the university. She currently was working as a Senior Executive Assistant for US Light Energy in Latham and prior to that had worked at Goldman Sachs Ayco. Gina was a competitive ballroom dancer and had even travelled to Europe to dance. She also enjoyed swing dancing. Always a generous person, she volunteered at an Art Gallery in Troy as well as with the Community Hospice in the area. Gina will be remembered as a kind hearted person with an effervescent spirit who brought joy and laughter to all the world and people around her. In addition to her parents, Gina is survived by her beloved sister, Jessica Lillard and her husband Joshua of Colorado and their son, Atticus. She is also survived by her loving aunts and cousins. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Gina's family Saturday, December 9, 2023 at the Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, 133 Broad St. , Waterford from 10 - 11:30 a. m. WATERFORD Sandra A. Murphy, 86, formerly of Broad St. passed away Thursday November 30, 2023 at Pathways Nursing Center. Born in Cohoes she was the daughter of the late J. Bertram Mahoney Sr. and Mabel Conboy Mahoney. She was a graduate of Catholic Central High School. Sandee had been employed by the NY Telephone Co. , later Verizon for 35 years and retired in 1994. She was a former member of the Waterford Rescue Squad Auxiliary, Waterford Lions Club, Friends of the Waterford Public Library and Telephone Pioneers of America. An avid reader she also enjoyed crocheting. She was the widow of James Murphy who died in 2007 and mother of Evelyn Daley (Tom) of East Greenbush, Elizabeth Murphy (William) of Brunswick, Sandra Murphy of Troy and James Murphy III (Jennifer) of Liverpool. She is the sister of the late J. Bertram Mahoney Jr. (late Marie). She is the proud grandmother of Nichole Davis, Amanda Murphy, Thomas Daley Jr. , Marissa Daley, James F. Murphy IV, William J. Much Jr. and Molly Murphy and great grandmother of 5 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be Tuesday Dec. 5, 2023 at 11 am from the Philip J. Michael John Murphy AKA "The Fighter / Murphdog", aged 49, passed away peacefully Monday, November 27th, 2023 at 4:20 p. m. , in his home surrounded by his loving family. Michael was born on March 22nd 1974, with a fighting spirit from day one and defied all odds. Michael was a kind-hearted soul who touched the lives of many. He will be deeply missed by his beloved mother, Antoinette 'Toni' Farrar and her wife Karen Gridley of Phoenix AZ, his loving father Michael W. Murphy of Moira NY, his beloved siblings Jennifer Peau (Jonathan) of Groton CT, Elizabeth McDonald (Brian) of Moira NY, John Murphy of Malone NY, Adelynn Murphy of Yonkers NY, and his cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles. Michael was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Connie and John Farrar, his paternal grandparents, Gertrude and Earl Murphy, and by his niece, Emma McDonald. Born in Syracuse NY, where he attended Our Lady of Pompei with his dearest friends, Mike moved to Connecticut as a teenager and graduated from Stonington High School. Most recently, he had been employed at Trader Joe's where he was lucky enough to have the best crew members who loved him as much as he loved them. Everywhere he went, he made family. From his OLP crew to his Mystic Color Lab crew, if he was your friend in kindergarten, he was your friend for life! There is a saying, "All people die, but not all people live. " Michael lived! Michael had a zest for life. If you knew him, his favorite thing to do was go to live concerts from G. Love to Dave Matthews Band. If you wanted to go with him he'd buy you a ticket, because making those memories with the people he loved is what he lived for. He loved spending time with his family. . . golfing with his father, seeing sites with his mother, and "chillin" with his siblings, cousins, and best friends, if you know what I mean. . . Mike always exuded good vibes and happiness and wanted the same for all who surrounded him. He had a contagious smile and laugh that could light up any room and a warm personality that made everyone feel welcome. His presence will forever be felt in the hearts of his loved ones. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, positivity, and strength that will be cherished by all. WATERFORD Laurene A. Janusz, 73, of Suncrest Dr. passed away Friday November 17, 2023 at St. Peter's Hospital. Born in Jersey City, NJ she was the daughter of the late James and Gertrude Kane Bozza. She was a graduate of St. Mary's High School in Elizabeth, NJ. She moved to this area in 1980. Laurie was employed at the office of Dr. Gregory Mora DDS in Latham for over 30 years and retired in 2019. Earlier she had worked at St. Mary's Hospital in Troy. She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church, Crescent and taught religion to the children in the parish. She very much enjoyed watching her grandchildren and cooking. As her children were growing up she was known as the neighborhood mom. Laurie was the widow of Robert I. Janusz Sr. who died in 2003. She is the mother of Robert I. Janusz Jr. (Tricia Gwinn), Kara Lynn Waldron (Jevon) and Pamela K. Janusz as well as her "like a son" Edward Daubney all of Waterford. She is the sister of Kathleen Verderosa (Late Marc) of Waterford, Dominick Bozza (late Patricia) of Bayonne, NJ and the late Trudy Sadowski (late: Bernie). She is the proud grandmother of 4 grandsons, Jaycen Janusz, Kaeden Waldron, Hudson Macy and Kaius Waldron. Several nieces and nephews also survive. TROY Lois M. Kewley, 94, of 2nd Ave. , passed away Friday November 17, 2023 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Troy she was the daughter of the late George T. and Bernice Wiltsie Danbury. Lois had been employed as a secretary at Leonard Hospital and later at St. Mary's Hospital Emergency Room retiring in 1985. She was a member and Past President of the Speigle-Elders. She enjoyed bowling and was famous for her "Left Hook". A member of Cornerstone Church in Lansingburgh, Lois served as a Trustee and Elder at the church and worked in the thrift shop and food pantry there. She took special pride in the educational and professional accomplishments of her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was known in the community as a talented seamstress and quilter who shared and gifted her quilts with family, friends and with anyone in need of comfort. She is the widow of George E. Kewley who died in 1984 and is the mother of Robert Kewley (Colleen) of Troy and the late James Kewley. She is the sister of the late Joyce Davey and George Kewley and grandmother of Erica Oates (James), Matthew Kewley, Bryan and Brent Kewley. Several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews as well as her grandpuppy Alfie, also survive. A Memorial service will be held at 3 pm on Sunday Dec. 10, 2023 at Philip J. SLINGERLANDS - Frank A. Tate Jr. , ESQ, CPA, JP, 91, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 23, 2023. Frank was born in Mechanicville, NY. He was a graduate of LaSalle Institute, Fordham University and Albany Law School. Frank was an attorney, certified public accountant, Judge in the Town of Colonie, real estate developer, and entrepreneur. He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years Joyce Tate, five children - Michael Tate (Mary Beth), Robyn Magee (Stephen), Lisa Field (Terry), Casey Huber (Joe), and Allyson Peek (Rick), and two stepchildren - Jennifer Whalen and Marshall Whalen (Morgan). He was affectionately known as "Grandpa Fox" to his 16 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He had a special bond with his nephews Christopher and David Tate. He considered Timothy Frederick to be like a son. He is predeceased by his parents, Frank and Phyllis Tate, his siblings Patricia Tirkot, Erika Holzer and David Tate, and by the mother of his children, Marian T. Tate. Frank had an undeniable zest for life. He was curious and his keen intellect drove him to many varied pursuits. Whatever he did, he was all in. He travelled the world with his wife and family. He was a philanthropist, instrument rated private pilot, and tennis enthusiast who played tennis into his 80's. He always had a puzzle underway and had a world class collection of TUCO puzzles. He loved playing cards, especially pinochle. He was an avid chess player, pianist, gardener, cook, and horse breeder. He loved adventure and enjoyed numerous outdoor sports including hunting, whitewater rafting, hiking, horseback riding, snow shoeing, and skiing. He was a sailing captain and enjoyed yearly trips to the Virgin Islands with friends and family. He taught meditation classes since the 1970's. He analyzed handwriting for the joy of it. He held lavish summer parties, memorable for their themes. He was the Bailli of the Albany Chapter of the Chaine des Rotisseurs and a member of The Societe Mondiale du Vin. He was influential in local politics and served as a volunteer fireman. In the 1960s he founded his firm Tate & Tate Attorneys at Law in Colonie where he practiced law and was a CPA. He loved spending time with his family. He was a true friend and mentor to so many and was never too busy to help someone in need. He was the best father and he will continue to be cherished, loved, remembered, and celebrated. The family would like to extend special thanks to Heather Lawson, Frank's caregiver. She brought joy, laughter and security to Frank and his family in his final years. Funeral services will be Friday at 10 am from the Philip J. CLIFTON PARK Bette J. Frament, 86, passed away peacefully Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at Albany Medical Center. Born and educated in Springfield, VT she was the daughter of the late John and Arietta Newell Krupsky. She worked as a claims rep. for Allstate Insurance in Latham for 21 years until retiring in 1996. Prior to that she had been employed at Waterford Halfmoon School and also worked for the Telephone Co. Bette's faith and sense of community were very important to her. She was a Eucharistic Minister, a member of the 3rd Order of the Franciscans Secular and part of a Bible study group. Both she and her husband, Art, volunteered for "Engaged Encounter" for the Albany Diocese, taught religious education for St. Mary's Church, volunteered for 10 years at the Farano House, fostered unwed mothers as well as fostering their precious Lucinda who died as an infant. They also travelled the country together and volunteered with habitat for humanity. Bette is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Arthur F. Frament, Jr. ; by her beloved children, Lori Ann Koonz of Cohoes and Arthur F. Frament III (Gwen) of Clifton Park; by her siblings, John Krupsky Jr. of Massachusetts, James Krupsky of Schroon Lake and Joseph Krupsky of Round Lake. She is also survived by her adored grandchildren, Katie, Ryan, Austin, Ashley, Amanda and Alyssa; by her great grandchildren, Isabella, Bianca, Giovanna, Fiona, Riley, Logan, Frederick, Vivienne, Annabelle and Addison as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 27th at 6 p. m. in the Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, 133 Broad St. , Waterford.
