Haltom City, TX

Connie (Earline) Marie Renfro, age 82, of Haltom City, Texas, passed away peacefully at home on September 8, 2023, surrounded by her loving family after a long battle with Lewy Body Dementia. She kept her sense of humor until the end, telling the caregiver who was giving her water that it was "not her beverage of choice" and that she'd prefer a Diet Coke. . Connie was born on December 26, 1940, in Lorance Creek, Arkansas. She was the daughter of Reverend Herbert Lee Lewis and Opal (Davis) Lewis, and the eighth of ten children. Her family moved several times when she was growing up, but Connie graduated in 1958 from Central High School in Little Rock. She moved to Fort Worth within a few years, where she met and married the love of her life, Jack Renfro, and raised their three children. Connie enjoyed interpreting for the deaf in church services, at Richland High School, at Tarrant County Junior College, and in delivery rooms (where she translated "ouch" and "that hurt" to the doctors multiple times). She also worked at Richland High School as secretary for the vice principals for several years, making many lifelong friends during that time. Her happiest job, though, was taking care of her family. Connie lived a life filled with joy, laughter, compassion, and generosity. She often expressed her love for others through cooking and gift-giving. She made everyone feel special and important. As one friend remarked, anyone who met her ended up loving her. The whole family benefited from the wisdom and sound advice Connie always had to offer. For example, she encouraged us to be fully present with the ones we love. She also taught us when we thought something good about someone, to tell them. But above all, she wanted everyone to know "the future hope of what God did for all of us before we were born, and the promise never to forsake us even in the valley of death. " There are not enough words to put on paper to describe how wonderful a person Connie was. Her wit and wisdom live on with her family and friends. She will be greatly missed, but we are comforted by knowing that she is fully restored and pain-free in the arms of Jesus. Connie is preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Opal; her stepmother, Alma; her brothers Norman, Bill, Bob, Maurice, and Glenn; and her sister Mary. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Jack; her children Doug (Julie) Renfro, Andrea (Chris) Jones, and Jill (Greg) Willis; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and her siblings Paul, Roy, and Carolyn. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Lewy Body Dementia Association or the Michael J. Fox Foundation.
